I had a thought. While a lot of people have complained about Leliana coming back from the dead perhaps there is a plot reason for.it. The scene where she talks about her death can be found here could it be that she is a ghost if you kill her? I think it was mentioned elsewhere that if you kill Anders justice may still be around and spirits seem common enough. Maybe if you kill Leliana in Origins she is a ghost and if not she is human?
Or a spirit possesses Leliana and saves her. Or Wynne gives her spirit to the bard: she does leave the party if you destroy the Urn of Sacred Ashes,doesn't she?

Oh yeah, Leliana. Well, I believe she used the ashes to heal herself or the maker revived her himself.
I dunno if a spirit can negate a beheading. Even Justice couldn't sustain Krystoff after that (I think that's how his name is spelled).

Feign Death. Decapitations don't count. Leliana's excuse (the Maker did it!) is little more than theatricality employed by a bard as a form of psychological warfare... or to bolster he legend.
A ghost? I mean... really? I just figured she either used the ashes or limped her ass out of there just like any other person that ever gets wounded on a battlefield. And yes of course everyone and their mother decapitated her...
She just said, she was destined to do more so was saved by the Creator. She's not a ghost/spirit. 
Too much thinking there maybe?
Also, there is a mod to have Carver and Bethany alive?

That theory is screwed up by one of the books
Oghren said the place was full of Lyrium. There were spirits of those long dead there. There was an eternal Guardian there. There were mystical ashes of healing there. it was a temple to the Maker. Leliana believed the Maker showed her a vision. The veil was extremely thin. Wynne possibly saved her.
Who knows.
She has the ability to remove her head and dance around without, she is an avatar of the marker's will.

Wait, after umpteen million play through of DA:O I just found out you can kill Leliana! Well then time to fire up that old classic.
its weird that they come back like that. I've never killed them so didnt know about it. would think they'd just be dead. they do play important roles so. strange tho.
Yeah, she could die, so does Oghren actually. Can kill everyone but Morrigan, Alistar till replace him with Loghain, Dog, and I think Shale. I have to go back and look, a warden killed everyone I could once. Oghren states, "you left me to die, but you didn't check to see if I was dead." When a warden killed him and then shows up in Awakening, Which is why Leliana would be the same fate. Warden didn't check those they killed apparently. Actually I was short of one member when I attacked Archdemon for my group with that warden if I recall.
hmm i guess its not weird if they can crawl away and live. i guess thats cool. they are very strong. so they "die" for that game, but still get the content with them later in next game. altho u dnt get to see what would bel like without them. but that might be kinda blah anyways.
and oh god, thats an evil warden. sad. haha.

Perhaps the Black City being black has to do with the Maker being on Thedas instead of there?
Seems reasonable. 
Yeah, I at least do that one time, then feel so bad, I save everyone in the next follow up play, and pretty much before credits start rolling.
I did this with one of the Hawkes too, and honestly don't remember who was left on that. I think I saved Anders as a healer because I killed too many there on that play.
I plan to do the same with one of the inquisitors as well. Yeah, I don't repeat companion max kills, except Anders.
@Red Panda Yeah, the Maker got tired of being stuck in one city and moved to Thedas as Leliana. Which has romanced most of my wardens.
I wish Bioware would just say we hand waved it and be done with, to even try to explain it is ridiculous. They brought Warden's that made the ultimate sacrifice back for Awakenings, and just said if you don't mind us hand waving it go ahead. They should have just did the same thing with Leliana.
If "the Warden didn't make sure they were dead" is an explanation, then they can bring back damn near anyone.
