She just said, she was destined to do more so was saved by the Creator.
That doesn't mean that that's what actually happened.

Oh yay,
People complain about Lelinas "return from the dead" again. Seriously she wasn't killed in a cutscene and we have plenty of examples of people you "kill" during gameplay and that are miracioulously alive in the following cutscene.
Come on even the ridiculously over the top badass Warden can fail to deal a fatal blow from time to time. S/he isn't a infallible god of slaughter, even if it seems like it most of the time.
Also stop bringing Lelianas decapitation up every time. It's just not possible that everyone who complains about it actually got the beheading animation in this particular fight. Finishing moves are rare enough and the decapitationis just one of many that can be triggered. I'm willing to bet that not even 50% of all the people that whine about Lelianas behaeding actually saw it in any of their playthroughs. Hell I killed her two times and didn't even get any finishing move at all. Just stop this nonsense already.

For players who killed her with their Warden, she came back from the dead. I can understand those players taking issue with one of their choices being overridden in a franchise that heavily promoted our choices being imported and carried over.
Of course, the Magi Boon, the Dalish Boon, Cullen, Oghren, Justice, and Anders are just a few examples that show the developers have no issue handwaving certain outcomes to accommodate their storyline.

That was a game mechanic, but Leliana was killed and became a corpse, there was a codex entry that read she died, and even the game itself flags that Leliana is dead.

She did return after a gameplay defeat, which does not always equal death in the DA games. And nobodies choice was overridden, it just turned out differently than people expected in the sense that Leliana survives anyway. If Leliana stated that she stayed with the Warden until the end in DA2, no matter what actually happended to her in DAO, then the choice would have been overridden. But as it is the choice is acknowdleged, it just didn't end as people hoped.

A gameplay mechanic that apparently everyone who wanted to kill Leliana expierienced, which is very unlikely/impossible. People are just whining about things that they never saw in their own game, which is my main problem with the constant complaints about the whole beheading thing.
Also the animation that magically turns defeated enemies into piles of bones makes them vanish completely in a few seconds doesn't prove anything. That is just another mechanic used to manage resources. And codexes aren't always 100% true in the DA Franchise but often just represent legends, speculations or the thoughts of the one who wrote it.

Leliana returned after being killed, which is the issue for those players who previously killed her with their Warden. Let's not call it a "gameplay defeat" when the codex on the character and the game files (that are often perused by modders who are fixing bugs) read that she's dead. I understand that you dislike some people citing the game mechanic of her being decapitated, but she was dead in Origins for players who chose to kill her, and her "resurrection" for those players is a recton of that previously established continuity. It's the recton of that outcome that some people still have an issue with.

So we're ignoring Leliana becoming a corpse once killed, the codex entry, and even the game files? Come on now. The beheading thing is a game mechanic, but their actual point is about the recton of Leliana coming back from the dead. It's not like the developers don't admit they handwaved some outcomes and deaths in the past (since "handwave" is precisely the word used when they explained why they didn't bring Nathaniel back for Dragon Age II, since they felt they handwaved quite a bit already), so I'm not seeing the issue.
Considering the developers even said the explanation behind her resurrection would eventually be given, I don't see how this is even being contested. Not that it matters to me, personally, as I didn't kill Leliana in my canon run (my Surana Warden hardened her personality, and she went off to investigate the darkspawn for the Crown), but I'm not going to pretend that Bioware didn't handwave the outcome for players who ended up killing her if they sided with Kolgrim (like they have quite a few other outcomes).

Maybe if you killed her it magically changed her eye colour so that while it was blue in origins:

And will possibly be blue again:
There is now the possibility that they will be brown:
http://www.dragonage.../humans/leliana
could it be a resurrected Leliana?

The brown eyes thing has been confirmed to be a bug.

Before you implore me to not change Leliana's eye color know that the seemingly brown eyes are a bug in some screens are a bug.
