You guys wrong thread, this thread is to celebrate Dagna's utter endearingness. I'm just so happy I will be able to hear her optomistic and adorkable voice more often!
Thank you good sir!

I'm torn... Dagna/Finn is my OTP... but that would be adorable as well! Though I guess there is a pretty big age difference between her and Solas. Maybe he's a mentor figure? Maybe she has a puppy crush on him? To the fanfic!

Wouldn't she be about thirty? How old is solas?

Solas is in his 40's
Dagna is about 29.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm still in my early 20's, but an age difference of over 10 years still feels like a lot.

Yeah. I feel she's probably matured, BUT I DOUBT she's lost her passion. Jennifer Helper confirmed she was "still adorable" in Inquisition last she knew.

I'll love her be it LI or not.
Personally I love Sigrun the most but Dagna's pretty damned cute.

Dagna was okay but what was her appeal to give her a big following? Is it the same thing that gave Sigrun a big fanbase?

Well, I can't speak for everyone.
BUT, I personally love her adorable passion and energetic personality. Plus, who wouldn't want to see a magic expert dwarf?

Sigrun's awesome but I still prefer Dagna, her character concept's just a little more interesting to me.
Though funny story about Sigrun, I thought someone was making a lot of Dragon Age/Hobbit crossover because people kept talking about her in the Hobbit tag on tumblr (though they kept misspelling her name for some reason) I was very disappointed to find out that that "Sigrid" was the name of one of Bard's daughters.

Been asked and answered in this thread multiple times and it's not so big a thread
Anyway as I said last time it was asked
As for why a minor character gets so much love, she's just so enthusiastic about SCIENCE and study and magic how does it work and shes willing to become casteless to follow her dream and she's so adorable.
Seriously, who doesn't love a character who is passionate and willing to work hard?

Depends, what would you say gave Sigrun a big fanbase?
Personally I like Dagna because she's
1. Adorable
and
2. A really interesting character. Dragon Age dwarves and their relationship (or lack thereof) with magic is a subject I find very interesting and her character is pretty much centered entirely around that concept.

We know Dagna will be assisting with gathering craft materials, I wonder if the "Artificer" will make any contributions to warfare tactics.

Cheers, ah, I figured this was where you were pulling the info from, just wanted to make sure. I figured it meant she'd be designing things to do with your materials and men, but wouldn't necessarily be helping you gather them, but I can understand how one might interpret her as the catch-all scientist of the group from that description. ![]()
Also, I totally understand your advice about reading the OP, you truly put a lot of work into it, and there really is some great stuff there. Having all that information consolidated into one place is really convenient for the rest of us, thank you, truly.
That said I did a quick google search of this specific image's name. The only other result besides your op was another Bioware forum post from September, made by a rather familiar user ![]()

I find it rather amusing that you used my own image to answer my question
I guess that sometimes funny things like that just happen on the internet, especially in smaller fan communities like ours.

I realize the fact that Dagna has essentially be confirmed to not be a romance option renders this thought pretty useless, but a strange thing happened while going through Orzammar this time around.
I has always said something to the effect of "I wont find Dagna physically attractive, because shes a Dwarf. I'll only like her personality".
This time though, i actually payed attention to what the dwarf women look like in Origins.
If you look past a few pretty terrible models, and the characters that are intended to kind of be unattractive, there are a lot of cute dwarven ladies. Dagna of course being one of them.
Its a very different type of "beauty". Its... well...smaller and rounder. "Cute" is the only word that i think describes it.
I guess what im trying to say is that i dont quite get the concept that Dwarves are ugly. And i really dont understand why Bioware avoids making them romance options.
(Also, im ridiculously tired, and im not sure if i just said anything coherent, or if it was all gibberish. Fun!)

Yeah dwarf women are adorable
It was one of the first things I noticed in DA:O, and one of the reasons I initially rolled dwarf, I was still kinda set on the LOTR mentality of "female dwarves should look exactly like the menfolk" now... after playing with some of these lovely ladies, I've become a bit more flexible

From her Tumblr. Lady Insanity had a chance to interview David for about an hour at GaymerX this weekend.
- There is an NPC you can flirt with and romance BUT it is not full-fledged, not like a companions.

Bioware avoids making them options because the height difference is hard to deal with, especially in frosbite 3

Considering you can romance any of the other races as a dwarf, that can't apply anymore.

I bet if you we tried hard enough in professing our admiration towards Dagna, they 'might' do something later on down the road. Remember how in Mass Effect 2 that Shepard had the option of pursuing a romance with Samara that would eventually not work out? Well, in Mass Effect 3's "The Citadel", they finally let the pursuit go somewhere.
And since Dagna is already (so far) going to appear in DA:I, a DLC that focuses on her character where you could potentially pursue a more intimate relationship wouldn't be unrealistic. Heck, it wouldn't even fall into that "No new companion DLC". Could be a "Mark of the Assassin" where her role is greatly expanded and you need each other's help to accomplish heir goal and you can choose to pursuit a relationship or keep things strictly professional.
