I like Dagna, but I wasn't aware she was a goddess.

Well considering some of the actions she might have taken (according to the epilogues) she could very well be deserving of paragon status. Which is pretty much the equivalent of being a living goddess. :P

Only time i have ever heard it mentioned was today and several weeks ago.

People were talking about it on the twitter and romance threads a few days ago. Ericander77 posted a romance chart that included Dagna under the 'please, please, please" section. That's kind of what got this thread started. :P

By the way, glad I could rekindle your love for Wallace and Grommit, they hold a special place in my heart as well. :P

I think it would be neat if one could miss out on things in later games if one does not complete a quest or does not do so correctly, such as not taking Dagna to the circle. It would be neat if her skills are inferior if she didn't go to the circle, or she isn't an asset at all.

I dunno if inferior would be the right word. She's still of the smith caste, and clearly very intelligent. I'm certain she would have developed a few good tricks is she's stayed behind. I think the difference would be what types of technologies she's better at innovating with, one wouldn't necessarily be inferior to the other.

I love Dagna for her enthusiasm for knowledge and learning, and it would be a crime to "put her in her place in the smith caste". I'm glad she's going to have  a role in DAI and I'm looking forward to meeting her again. However, I would find it inappropriate to make her a romance option. Also, being an LI limits possible developmehts for the character involved, so I wouldn't want her to be one for that reason as well.

How does being an LI limit possible developments? Not that I wouldn't be alright with her not being LI (though I would like that), her character has lots of ground to cover without a romance :P

I would have gone with "Paragon", but thats the way it goes.

Well, im certainly not going to disagree. She's definitely my "type" when it comes to romance options in games like this. Im not holding my breath on this one, but ive been surprised before. I never expected them to make Tali available either.

This also really isnt the place, but man, Wallace and Grommit. I would watch VHS tapes of those over and over again as a kid, drinking tea, and eating cheese and crackers.

That show made a big impact on my formative snack food eating years.

That's adorable! And thanks to your link I was able to find this pic from the same tumblr.

every character needs more flower crown fanart, especially characters like Dagna.

She's my "type" as well though my "type" can pretty much be described as whoever I find most interesting in a given game. That said, I think her character definitely has the potential for widespread appeal. Sweet, nerdy tech girls are almost always audience favorites and also tend to be loved almost equally by both genders.

Sure, but as of right now. Well, my fingers are being super crossed right about now.

She is definitely one of those unique characters that physically i probably will not be very attracted to her. But personality wise, she's delightful.

She will be fun to have around, romance or not though.

Color me interested in Team Dagna. I always sent her to the Circle because I figure they could really use the help after Uldred. How will she affect this world.

Plus, female dwarves. We didn't see any in DA2, and we could use some, especially those that take dwarf stereotypes and turn them on their heads.

I wonder if we can talk to her about her time at the circle. Maybe she was friends with some mages or Templars we might meet

Yeah, DAII made me wonder if Dragon Age Dwarves had the same weird sex ratio going on as LOTR.

I think that DA2 is much more a result of what a little over a year to develop an RPG buys you.

Dagna For Paragon 9:40!

I'd personally go with Paragon Dagna the Industrious or Paragon Dagna the Enchanted (to reference her skills with magic) myself but clever works too :P. Hmm I actually think that would be a neat quest idea, the surface dwarves are trying to campaign for better rights in Orzammar, so they try to get one of their own elected Paragon, and your job is to promote Dagna (or choose between promoting her and another dwarf, so pretty much Dagna).

Well, I meant "Clever" as in Clever Men (or Women). Another way of calling her a mage.

Potential explanation for LOTR and Dragon Age.

"Clever Men"? I've never heard that as a way of referring to mages, where does it originate from?

Potential explanation for LOTR and Dragon Age.

The Entwives practice "Political Lesbianism"...?

Gimli is a female dwarf...?

The scene between Shelob and Sam somehow tells us something about Tolkien's views on heterosexuality...?

I'm a confused.

Well... I guess the "political lesbianism" does explain the entwives (kinda sorta, maybe), but how does that do anything to explain the dwarves in either Dragon Age or LOTR?

And Dagna...

(Speaking of LOTR... if some talented artist wanted to draw a crossover piece with Ori and Dagna I would be totally cool with that :P)

There's a small collection of Finn/Dagna shippers out there :P (They're both bookish nerds with a passion for magical theory, it'd work). I think it'd be adorable if she talked about him a bit. Also I can imagine a conversation between her and Anders.

Anders: "You joined the circle... voluntarily? Are you mad?"

Maybe it's an ES reference. The Elder Scrolls refers to magic as the Clever Craft.

Ooooh that makes sense, my knowledge of Elder Scrolls lore isn't that good, I mostly stick to stealthing and stealing in those games. If it were easier to steal the appropriate books, maybe I'd learn more :P

Still, if Bethesda were basing that off some other reference, then "the clever" wouldn't definitely suit Dagna on multiple levels.

It's an early modern (aka Renaissance) British term, I think.  'Cunning men' certainly was, at least.

So Mark just responded directly to my Dagna question.

This is of course a super vague response, but the fact that he did not reject the possibility of anything up to follower is promising.

Dagna the Cunning :P That would work, I bet her reputation as a crazy magical scientist precedes her actual disposition.

It's the way he phrased it that's important. It kinda made me feel like she'd be more important than a one off NPC, especially since he's not even sure about a few other popular NPCs. I might just be reading too much into it though :P
