Anyone figure there's any chance of him turning up?

I'm thinking the shady business him and (potentially) Hawke sibling were up to in the Deep Roads might actually be linked to whatever the Wardens are doing in Inquisition. Makes me wonder what becomes of his 'crew.' He was being actively paid off to discourage any curiosity, so...makes me wonder.

He was absolutely my favourite character in Awakening, so I'm hoping he shows up.

And not as a Warden enemy if that's the case. Sigrun too. Hell, all of them.  Oh my.  :(

I think, at this point, it's as possible as anything else. :)

Personally, I'd like to see him (even if it will give me all the feels...probably *especially* if it will be emotional) some how or another. I fear, however, that it won't be roses and moonlight. :|

I wouldn't be surprise if he showed up again. He was the only Howe I could stand. Granted I think we only meet 3 Howes in the series.

I like Nate Howe. Out of all the Amaranthine Wardens he's the only one I can see taking over as Warden-Commander. That said I want them all to return (except for Anders). A less racist Velana. A less eager-to-die Sigrun. And most of all a more responsible Oghren who's functioning as the Vigil's own training instructor/drill sergeant.

Would love to see all them again, especially with Blackwall in the party

I like him but he already got a cameo in DA2. I rather catch up with Velanna or Sigrun this time around.

I wouldn't complain if he shows up. I liked him in Awakening and then seeing him again in DA2 was cool.

His epilogue in Awakening (one of them, anyway) said he became pretty well-respected, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. My Warden stepped down in my canon anyway.

As others have said, it's definitely possible. I wouldn't pin my hopes on it though. As cool as it would be to see all of our old companions return, I just can't see Nathaniel getting another cameo.

Don't I wish.  I don't think he'll get another cameo, mainly because he might be getting close to his Calling by now.

I really hope all the possible Wardens that have been created throughout the series make an appearance. Nathaniel, Sigrun, Velanna, Oghren, Loghain, Bethany, Carver...

Really, I just hope all previous companions get a cameo.

What if it was the Gray Wardens who provided the Red Templars with the red lyrium? That would explain why the Inquisition attacked the Gray Warden fort and possibly why Blackwall joined the Inquisition, and also that concept art of him ripping off the Gray Warden pendent. If that was him in that art.

If there's any time for a bunch of the characters we know and enjoy (including Nathaniel) to show up and talk to our character they have no relation to, it's during this world-tearing crisis that only the faction we lead can stop. I'm pretty confident that we'll be seeing Nathaniel again in Inquisition. Considering what we've seen in the trailers, our reunion with past warden companions might not go so well though.

I'd really hate it if they make us kill previous companions. I'd think most would be reasonable and willing to talk.

he spent most of his time in ferelden and the free marches, he might show up, but since we are possibly fighting wardens, i dont think they will due to him being very popular

Why would he be? As of Inquisition he's only been a Warden for about 9 years.

Whatever the Wardens are doing Blackwall isn't in on it, so I'd hope others like Nathaniel would go his way as well.

Hopefully not. In my Awakenings he gets a date with a noose, anyway.

Depends on if he's been reassigned out of Ferelden/Freemarches area.    I think our encounter with the Wardens takes place much further east, so unless the squad attached to Vigil's Keep have been reassigned or all Grey Wardens recalled, hopefully they can avoid the fall out.    I really wouldn't like being forced to kill them but then again the Inquisitor doesn't know them, plus their minds may not longer be their own.    Whatever the case, at least Nathaniel will still always have his statue back in Ferelden for people to remember him by.

Why would he be? As of Inquisition he's only been a Warden for about 9 years.

The time of the Calling varies; even DG said that a Warden could go on his/her Calling as soon as 5 years after the become a Grey Warden.  During a Blight (or if they have had a lot of contact with Darkspawn,) the Taint progresses faster than usual.

TUK: On that note, you've said that it takes about thirty years more or less between the Joining and the Calling, ish, [DG grimaces audibly and visibly]...sorry! What can accelerate or decelerate that process if anything, or is it something you created that you now regret?

DG: It's something I put in Alistair's dialogue that I now regret! Afterwards I was like, "Wow, thirty years is a long time for that time frame." I didn't really intend when I was writing it, and only afterwards when I went back I said "Oh...I guess it does sort of implies thirty years after you take the Calling, doesn't it..." Sorry, after you take the Joining. That wasn't really my intention. But it's out there now so I'm like, okay, thirty years. But the idea is also that it varies. Thirty years is the maximum that you could probably expect. It's going to vary for an individual according to their willpower and the level of their interaction with the darkspawn. During a Blight you can expect that the Grey Wardens are going to have shorter lifespans. Outside of a Blight the Grey Wardens would tend to live longer. We have instances in the game of people going on their Calling after five or ten years. Alistair's thirty year quote shouldn't be taken as gospel, that's the way I like it.

My Warden drank Avernus' concoction. I'm sure that buys him a few years. Not to mention whatever Avernus discovered after DA:O. It was important enough to send to the First Warden.

Nathaniel didn't though.  Plus, the PC Warden is already going to have the biggest advantages when it comes to willpower, ect.

Avernus made a potion for the Wardens, but you find it on their bodies in DA2.  It just gives you a free level.

Game play-story segregation. Whatever Avernus discovered it's implied to be a big deal. I mean the dude is 300 years old. He wouldn't try to get missive to Weisshaupt unless it was urgent.

And whatever it was the letter was encrypted.

Not relevant to the topic though.  Nathaniel didn't drink the same potion, and he's spent a lot of time around Darkspawn.  There is nothing, in the games or in the EU to suggest that he ever met Avernus, much less drank the potion that the PC Warden did.

There was the events of Awakening and then in DA2 you see him again, in the Deep Roads, surrounded by darkspawn.  The dialogue he has hints at more Awakened Darkspawn around, and that he's doing something for them.  The more time a Warden hangs out around darkspawn, the faster the Taint progresses.

I'm not saying he's on his Calling.  However, we can't dismiss the possibility that he's no longer alive.
