Just like it says, of the characters we know of already and what we know about them who are you rival and who are you going to be friends with? And how do you think you will again their rivalry or friendship?

Cullen: He hates mages and so I'm going to spare every mage I can and side with them at every chance. He is going to hate me.

Cassandra is pretty much a female Cullen: So the same thing.

Vivienne: I hate the circle and so will my inquisitor. I will be singing down with the Circle pretty much anytime I am near her so she will hare me.

Dorian: I have a feeling we will get along grate. He will be my gay best friend.

Cole: I am love him, he just needs hug and someone to be there for him.

Iron Bull: I will not be kind about the Qun so I have a feeling we will not get along all that well.

Varric: I'm sure we will be best friends too. We are going to start our own Hate Cassandra Club.

Solars: I am sure we will get along great and if he is LI. Well I found my honey.

Blackwall: I'm sure we will get along, I will play my Inquisitor as someone who doesn't know the Gray Wardens.

Lelianna: I wanted to rival her in Origins but couldn't, as much as I hated her I need the self righteous mage hating ******. At least now I can tell her what I really think of her.

Sera: I think we will get along mostly but I'm sure there will be points where we clash how she treats Cole. Also I will have a problem deciding who to chose to romance her or Solars.

I always thought of Cole as a lost and scared child who needs love and understanding.

It's kinda early to tell for some companions but I can give my best predictions.

Cullen: Pretty sure he's going to be pro-Templar, and my first Inquisitor will be pro-mage. So, they probably won't like each other much at all. I'll still try my best to not p*ss him off too much, though. I need my military adviser :lol:

Cassandra: Same as with Cullen, I think.

Dorian: I'm fairly sure my f!Quizzy will get along well with Dorian, but she'll probably think his wish to 'redeem Tevinter' a hopeless one.

Solas: Probably going to become good friends with my Inquisitor. I do look forward to their awesome conversations.

The Iron Bull: I can see them clashing at first due to Bull's Qunari beliefs, though I think hope they'll get along eventually.

Varric: They'll hopefully be besties. I mean, it's Varric!

Blackwall: Unsure, tbh. I don't know where he stands on the M/T issue, which is a big deal for my Inquisitor. As with most of the others, I hope they get along well :P

Cole: My Inquisitor will give him all of the hugs. All of them.

VivienneInquiz prolly gonna tell her to hit the Imperial Highway, tbh.

Sera: At first, my Inquisitor will probably be super cool with her. After she hears how she acts to Cole I assume they'll be less friendly to each other. I still won't knife her or tell her to leave, however. Not based on her interactions with one companion, even if said companion is a favorite of mine.

Leliana: Leli and my Inquisitor will probably not hate each other, though I don't know. She seems to have changed a bit (or a lot) so I'll wait and see.

I think you're wrong about Cassandra. She doesn't hate mages. At the very least, she has civil discourse with Vivienne (as seen in game footage from last year) and Solas (based on Patrick Weekes' comment about the two of them being part of "Team Mutually Respectful Moral and Theological Debate").

With that said, Cassandra will be my friend and love interest. I greatly respect her "justice first" mentality and just find her physically attractive.

Cole will be a friend, if only because I understand his personal quest for purpose in this crazy world. He'll be like my younger brother. With the right guidance, I think the kid can make a difference.

Solas will be a friend because I find his views to be interesting and unique. He's like a Jedi Master hippie. I think he and my elf mage Inquisitor will be bros.

Sera will be my lesbian best friend. I respect her views on authority and think she'll be loads of fun.

Vivienne is physically attractive, but I find her personality to be somewhat unappealing. Of course, she will most likely be more complex than her initial impression. She'll probably be a rival, unless she's a love interest.

Blackwall will most likely be a rival because I find his motives (being a Warden just because) to be questionable. It seems to me that he is a glory hound.

Dorian will most likely be a rival because he seems like a pompous jerk with a fleeting case of mage/wealth guilt. Like Vivienne, he might be more complex though.

Iron Bull and Varric could be friends or rivals. I haven't decided yet. They both seem interesting, but I don't trust either one of them. Bull is still a follower of the Qun and Varric is just a little too sketchy.

Okay, not sure this will work out like I'm predicting, but here goes:

Cassandra: My Inquisitor will be in love with this woman. Not sure if they'll struggle through any philosophical disagreements, but he'll make it work.

Blackwall: My Inquisitor will most likely get along quite well with this honorable Grey Warden.

Iron Bull: My Inquisitor will appreciate his humor and make every attempt to respect his beliefs.

Varric: He will be best bros with my Inquisitor. They'll be drinking brews at the taverns together all the time.

Cole: I think my Inquisitor will find him interesting. As long as he helps fight for good, they'll get along alright.

Sera: I'm fairly certain a Friend of Red Jenny will be friends with my Inquisitor. She seems to have a fun-loving personality, too.

Solas: Seems a whimsical expert type. Perhaps like the Doctor (Doctor Who). My Warden was a spirit warrior. My Inquisitor will likely share her fascination.

Dorian: Depends if the whole magister thing gets out of hand. Nothing like Danarius, or he's out. Dorian seemed to stand apart as decidedly better, though.

Vivienne: Not sure how I feel about her beliefs, but her personality doesn't strike me as someone I want to try to get along with.

Cullen: He's been a fairly decent guy, most of the time, if a little strict in his philosophies. I think it will work out, though it may be a bit rough at times.

Leliana: My Warden romanced her. My Inquisitor's personality will probably be similar. Should get along. I always loved her views on the Maker.

Scribbles: No idea. We know next to nothing about her.

Just like it says, of the characters we know of already and what we know about them who are you rival and who are you going to be friends with? And how do you think you will again their rivalry or friendship?

I anticipate standing on the opposite side of some issues held by the companions simply because of my character's views, race, and beliefs. It's a current WiP.

Cullen - depends on whether he still considers non-Andrastians "heathens", as well as his views on mages and magic. I expect disagreements about matters he might be pro-templar or pro-Andrastian on.

Cassandra - uncertain. From an in-character perspective, her association with the Chantry is likely to cause some initial distrust. If she is similar to Alistair in trusting the judgement of the protagonist, and has no problem with a non-Andrastian mage, then I don't anticipate any real problems.

Sera - potential to go either way, depending on where her moral lines are drawn. Her apparent concern for the disenfranchised would lead me to think there's room for common ground between the two of us, but she may not agree with what my character is willing to do to help empower his people during this crisis.

Vivienne - depends on her reaction to my Inquisitor siding with the mages to dispatch a centuries-old enemy in the templars. It wouldn't surprise me if she became a rival of sorts, since she's Orlesian. If she's staunchly pro-Circle, that will be another issue. My character doesn't agree with the Chantry controlled Circles, or their view on magic.

Dorian - he's an atypical Tevinter mage, but his views on slavery and elves haven't been clarified. It could go either way.

Cole - he's a spirit. All spirits are dangerous. Extreme caution.

Iron Bull - the Qun is likely to be a source of severe disagreement if it comes up in conversation.

Varric - uncertain. My character is willing to go to some extreme measures to safeguard a future for his people. It's possible he (and a few others) may disagree.

Solas - his views are likely to conflict with  my character's views on spirits and the Beyond, but there might be some consensus on certain issues.

Blackwall - the Wardens are respected by the People, and they understand the need for sacrifice, so I don't anticipate any real problems.

Leliana - depends on whether she's willing to respect my character's autonomy and beliefs, or if she tries to use my Inquisitor as a tool to promote some Andrastian agenda. If her characterization in "Faith" was dropped in favor of how she was depicted in Origins and Asunder, I don't anticipate any real problems. Her role in the demise of the elves of Halamshiral will be a severe problem, if it comes to light.

Scribbes - uncertain. Too little information.

Dagna - I'm leaning towards positive. Perhaps she might have some interest in non-Circle sanctioned magic, since she studied at the Circle for roughly a decade.

Cullen may not like my pro-mage stance, but I'm still going to try to get along with him, if possible. I have a feeling Vivienne and I may not always get along because we have very different personalities, but we'll see. Other than that, I don't really see me having much conflict with anyone. I'm not big on the Qun but I don't think Iron Bull is going to really give a crap, since he doesn't really follow it's ideals very closely at all. At least I hope he won't.

I can't help but hope that the Divine was at the peace summit at the beginning of Inquisition and that she dies screaming. Though I don't think I'm that lucky. After all the crap she pulled she needs to be killed. Same with the Empress and Gaspard.

Hmm... I guess I'll go ahead with this.  Gonna be going off of the personality I have planned for my first Inquisitor (female Dalish dual-wield rogue).

Cassandra:  There'll probably be several clashes when it comes to the Chantry, Andrastian beliefs, etc.  And really, I don't see a friendship forming atm.

Cullen:  Again, there may be a few clashes, especially when it comes to mages.  On the whole, though, he seems... alright, I guess.

Sera: I like her personality and I think she'll get along well with my Inquisitor.  She's also a possible LI.   ;)

Vivienne:  Probably not going to get along, because of her pro-Circle views.  Her 'fashionista' personality doesn't really help much.

Dorian:  Probably going to be a bit of distrust and wariness at first because of him being a magister, but I can see a friendship growing there.

Cole:  I haven't read Asunder yet, but I think my Inquisitor might be able to be a kind of big sister figure to him, from what I've heard.

Iron Bull:  I can see them becoming friends, sure.

Varric:  I can definitely see them becoming friends.

Solas:  Considering how he's a self-taught elven apostate, I think they'll get along great.  He's a possible LI too.   ;)

Blackwall:  Auto-respect due to him being a Warden, though other than that, I don't know.

Leliana:  Probably going to have a few clashes, tbh.  Similar to Cullen and Cassandra, really.

Scribbles:  (need more info)

Cullen - He doesn't hate mages and probably sympathizes with them to an extent after the events at Kirkwall. We'll disagree on religious issues, but I'm sure we'll get along well otherwise.

Cassandra - Same with Cullen. I'll romance her if there are no better options. However, she might get upset at me saving innocents instead of defending forts (e.g. the Crestwood situation).

Sera - I feel like we might end up being rivals. I consider myself a very compassionate person, and would, for example, save Crestwood instead of defending the fort, but I'm willing to make sacrifices for the greater good if necessary. She doesn't seem to feel the same way.

Vivienne - I doubt we'll get along. She seems like a haughty ****** and has a survival-of-the-fittest thing going on.

Dorian - He believes magic should be used to its full potential, not restricted and wrapped up in shame. We'll get along fine.

Cole - Might not even recruit him. I'm wary of letting a child-minded pseudo-demon anywhere near anyone.

Iron Bull - He's like a giant cross between Varric and Zevran. I love him already. I'm not super hostile toward the Qun, so we'll be best buds.

Varric - He's Varric. We're bros 'til the end.

Solas - Uncertain.

Blackwall - Seems cool.

Leliana - Depends on how zealous she is. She was lax in Origins, but I don't know about now. She'd better be prepared for heresy and blasphemy.

Scribbes - Uncertain.

Dagna - We'll get along just fine.

Leliana--Welcome back hun!  For my Quizzy, she'll probably be a little wary of Leliana to start with.  I'd like to think my character has heard tales of the ladies in Orlais, and how many of them are bards.

Cullen--I've never been a huge fan of his, but I'd like to see how he's been holding up.  I know that his Order is in shambles right now, and I'm wondering how all of that is going to play out later.

Scribbles--<clears throat>  MIGHT BE NICE IF WE HAD AT LEAST A NAME FIRST!

Dagna--She was awesome in Origins and I look forward to seeing her again.

Varric--I'm one of those poor saps that hold onto the tiny hope that Varric is a LI.  Regardless of that status, he was my best bud to Hawke and he'll be my best bud to my Lady Cadash

Cole--My character is going to be wary at first, like she will be around all magic.  As long as the kid knows which way to point his knife, she's okay by him.  She would ask Solas to keep an eye on him though.

Cassandra--It took me a couple of completions of DA2 to warm up to her, but we'll probably mostly get along.  I tend to be more chaotic good as opposed to upholding order, but I'll see how it plays out.  For now, I'd say friend.

Vivienne--So far, I can't say I like her all that much.  However, she's an interesting and complex character.  I can't say how well my Quizzy is going to get along with her.  Before I played Origins, I had heard about Morrigan and I thought I was going to just hate her.  While she does make some decisions that I absolutely think are stupid, she's my Warden's closest friend.  Vivienne reminds me a little (just a little Vivi fans) of Morrigan, so her personality could surprise me too.

Blackwall--Definitely a friend, and one of the type of characters I've been wanting in my party for a long long time.  I've been excited to journey with a Grey Warden again.  I got even more curious about him when I posted the song "God's Gonna Cut You Down," by Johnny Cash into his thread, and Sheryl Chee (after honoring me with a like) told me that song was on her playlist for the character!  I call him John Blackwall now.  Interestingly enough, I remember reading that Alistair was originally thought of as an "old grizzled dark-haired war vet," before they scrapped that concept.  It seems like that concept came back and I can't wait to find out more.

Sera--I'm the OP of the Sera fan thread (started back in March,) so it stands to reason I'm a huge fan of this character.  I've helped gush about her for pages, so I'll let that speak for itself. I think her and my Lady Cadash will get along famously, although I can't say the same for future Inquisitor's down the road.

Iron Bull--Finally, someone that I can learn more about the Qun from.  He seems brash, unapologetic, boisterous and larger-than-life in so many ways.  I'm grateful I have a window to the Qun, which I've been wanting for a long time.  It'll also be nice to see it coming from a qunari that's used to a lot of the culture of the rest of Thedas.  I may not want to "ride the bull," but I'll happy stand at his back covering him with my bow while he charges into battle.

Solas--Even with his reveal, he's a total mystery.  For now, I'll say friends.  Sorry if I don't have a lot more to add than that

Dorian--I am going to befriend you.  I'm going to befriend you so hard.  This is the third of the characters that I've been wanting to see.  I've been wanting to meet a good aligned Tevinter mage for a long time.  Here's my chance and he seems like a fantastic guy.  Plus, he's the first male companion in my history of playing BW games that has made me decide to try a m/m relationship my second or third completion of DA:I.  Well done DG, well done!  :wizard:

Wow...it looks like only Vivienne might be a sort of rival, and even then it could be subject to change.

Blackwall: Neutral about him but he better not have a soft heart!

Cassandra: She is the warrior of my heart.

Cullen: He better not spout his views if he wants to keep his head.

Cole: Neutral.

Dorian: My right hand and one that I will strive to change his views on the Imperium.

Iron Bull: We'll get along just fine and I will break his chains to the Qun.

Leliana: Always like her.

Sera: Eh, I don't think she will like my methods.

Solas: Neutral about him.

Scribbles: Neutral.

Varric: Best Friends Forever.

Vivienne: The only companion that I would call a rival, I hate the Circle so much so she and I will clash heads.

i always try to make everyone friends with my PC, everything runs smoothly when everyone gets along.  Though i do believe its not gonna be all about mages vs templar decisions (for big increases and decreases in friendship) like a lot of da2 was.

But if i had to rival some, they would probably be cullen, and vivene....  ive always disliked cullen, but something about vivene just doesnt feel right to me in terms of her personality.

I know that my Inquisitor is going to try and change how things are run in Theadas(sp?) so there are bound to be people who will not like me. Like Vivienne, Cullen, and Cassandra. These three seem to want to keep things as they are but my Inquisitor will want to change the world for the better, hopefully.

I can not confirm or deny that. It's plausible deniability.  Why I wrote this....uhm, I'll get back to you on that, felt like being silly. :P

I don't know how they will act with my first being pro mage. Well, the fem Qunari isn't thought out yet, but I will be pro mage on a couple, one pro Templar. She might try to balance. Seems right for Qunari? No idea, I need to think on that one.

I support a reformed mage circle and non-extremist templars, but oppose the Chantry and the Qun, so I expect:

Friends:
Blackwall
Sera
Varric
Dagna

Rival:
Cole
Iron Bull
Solas

Unsure:
Cassandra/Cullen/Leliana (Support reformed mage circle & moderate templars, but oppose Chantry)
Dorian (I don't know where he stands on the mage circle)
Vivienne (I don't like elitism)

Cassandra: We wont agree on much. She's andrastian, I am dalish. She's pro templar, I'm pro mage. I will however appreciate her sense of justice. Our relationship will be professional.

Cullen: Once again, same as Cassandra. Purely professional relationship.

Cole:He's a spirit and my Dalish is a mage. I wont trust him until he can prove he's "contained". And even then I'll still be on the lookout since every mage knows a benevolent spirit can turn into a demon with a snap of the finger. A mage that doesn't know that will either be possessed or killed.

Sera: We'll have lots of fun! She looks like she likes to have a good time and my elf does too!

Blackwall: I'll like his strength, maturity and battleprowess. It's in my head canon that my dalish elf mage has heard stories of the grey wardens from his keeper so he'll appreciate actually seeing one in person.

Ironbull: He'll definitely be curious about the Qun and wonder as to why so many city elves join them. He wont convert of course but I think he and Ironbull will get along. It seems like Ironbull likes to have a good time as well. As long as he doesn't try to spread the Qun.

Solas: He'll wonder why Solas has lived so long while associating himself with spirits and demons alike. He'll definitely want to share magical notes with Solas to educate himself but he still stay far away from any spirit or demon. (looking at you Cole)

Vivienne: At first they'll bump heads because as a dalish mage he doesn't believe mages should kept in some prison. However, he will appreciate Vivenne's sense of order, her drive to reach the top and her political prowess when she started from the bottom. He sees those as traits of strength. They'll be friends with the occasional cat fight.

Varric: Well, what's not to like about him? Friendly, charismatic and always has a story to tell over a mug of ale.

Dorian: He'll definitely be my Elfs LI. BUT as you've seen from my past analysis, my elf absolutely hates fade spirits (he sees fade spirits as conduits of ruin). It appears Dorian with his necromancy seems to fraternize with them on a daily basis. He'll definitely disagree with his mode of magic and will probably be somewhat skeptical of Dorians background. However, he'll be seduced by his intelligence, rebel like disposition, and his goals to change tevinter for the good. It'll sure be a complicated relationship but they say the complicated ones are the most fun!

Leliana: He'll definitely be keeping an eye out for her. He's not andrastian in the slightest (of course being Dalish) and while he sees her as an asset he'll most definitely be wary of her spreading her agenda. He'll most certainly need her for her expertise in intelligence so he'll still keep her close, but not too close.

Scribbles: One thing my elf likes is commerce. In his eyes a monopoly is power when it comes to humans and he intends to warm up to scribbles to get that advantage. They'll definitely be close friends as she takes him under her wing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All in all, he wont "hate" anyone. He sees the use of every one of his members those he keeps close will always find time to talk and the others will be professional.
Cole, well, I don't think my inquisitor will get rid of him early. He'll probably just be curious and wary of him until he snaps. Then he and Vivienne will banish him.
Hmmm... first off, I really didn't like the Friend/Rival system in DA2.  i get what they were going for, but to me it often felt as awkward and contrived as the gifting system in DAO did.  Sounds like this time around they're going for something that's supposed to feel more organic.  Let's hope so, as I'd really prefer not to have to meta-game to get my companions to react to my character in a way that actually makes sense to me.  Anyhoo....
Varric:  Don't see why we wouldn't get along.  I plan to play a character with good intentions who will try to keep the innocent-people-who-die number to a minimum, and he and Hawke were always friends, so he and my Inquisitor will no doubt be as well.
Cass:  Love her.  Hopefully we'll get along.  If being part of Team 'mutually respectful theological debate' or whatever it was with the adventurous apostate and maybe-demon child is any indication, we should be fine.  We'll probably disagree a lot, but our ultimate goal of saving the world and the people in it is the same.
Vivienne:  Not sure.  She sounds fascinating, but she also sounds like a snobbish biach and will probably rub me the wrong way.  Then again, Morrigan and ME2's Miranda did at first, but ended up being two of my favorite Bioware characters, so we'll see...
Sera:  Don't know how I feel about her.  I tend to fine the 'spunky, snarky, cute girl' type annoying more often than not.  I feel like I'll have too much fun pissing her off not to, and she probably won't like some of the darker grey decisions I might make in the game.  I'll reserve judgement until I get to know her better
Blackwall: Since he's compassionate but realistic, I imagine I'll get along really well with him.
The Iron Bull:  Not sure.  I was really excited about him at first but my interest has waned a bit.  He sounds fun, and his party banter should be pretty awesome, but the Qun stuff tends to hit all the wrong notes for me on an ideological level, and coupled with his more mercenary attitude I don't know how well we'll get along.
Solas:  Seriously, if a cannot romance this guy I will best friend him so hard.   I mean, an introverted nerdy weirdo with an open mind and an expert on the Fade (one of my favorite parts of DA lore)?  Yes, please.
Cole:  Another favorite.  I loved him in Asunder, and find the nature of what he is incredibly fascinating.
Dorian:  I think I'll like him a lot.  His personality sounds really fun, and I can't wait to get a perspective on Tevinter that isn't TerrifiedSpeculation/RandomVillain/Fenris.  And he sounds like a pretty decent guy to boot, so I shouldn't have any issues being friends.  Might even roll out a male character (by actual choice, for the first time ever) to see his romance arc.
Leliana:  Depending on the Origins playthrough I went from being her best friend to disliking her for being a preachy hypocrite to not trusting her at all.  No idea how my character will feel about her in DAI.  I'll have to wait and see what they did with her, but I always found it more fun to dislike her for some reason so...  :devil:
Cullen:  Hmm... If he were any other Templar I'd be inclined to hate him, but... he's Cullen.  I really like his character, and how he's developed so far in the previous games.   I could see having a friendship with him being similar to Cass' where we disagree, but respectfully.  i do want to romance him, though, (whether it's playthrough 1 or 2 depends on Solas being available) and will keep the convos a bit less combative when I do.  :)
"Scribbles":  No idea!  :lol:
I'm pretty much going to hate anyone who dislikes mages, My character is basically a more extreme version of Anders that also uses blood magic but hey! no demons :)
Iron Bull, Sera, and Varric. All the snark you can shake a stick at. :D
She'll either be an elf or a qunari. I'm undecided on romances until we get the full scope. But.
Come on.
Iron Bull and Sera alone would make for great tavern brawl goodtime fun.
Cullen: I am Pro-templar and pro-circle(regardless of class or race), so I am pretty sure we will get along. Not to mention I am no doubt going to romance him.
Cassandra- Same as cullen, but not going to romance her!
Vivienne: Even though I am pro-circle, I am still iffy on whether or not we will get along.
Dorian: We might get along for the most part, but if he is a necromancer we will no doubt argue about it. To me necromancy is no better than blood magic which I am 100% against.
Cole: He is awesome and I have always loved him (in a family kind of way) since I read asunder and judging from the interview about him, we are going to be best friends.
Iron Bull: We might get along but we will no doubt argue about the qun.
Varric: LOVE! varric and can't wait to have him as a companion, we are without a doubt going to be friends. If he is a LI I will no doubt romance him.
Solas: From what I know about him so far, we are going to get along great! Also I think he would make a great LI for a dalish inquisitor(or a mage period).
Blackwall: Dont know if I am going to get along with him or not, we will have to see.
Lelianna: She's cool I guess, not that much of a fan. We will no doubt be friends though.
Sera: She sounds like a brat to me, but who knows maybe we will get along.
For my first play through (a sarcastic androgynous male mage):
Blackwell - unsure yet, neutral
Cassandra - friends but barely, like her but think she'll disapprove of my actions and my humour at times (ala Aveline)
Cole - unsure yet, probably rivals since he creeps me out
Dorian - friends, romance
Iron Bull - friends, hope I get to 'ride' him at some point too
Sera - friends
Solas - unsure of yet, neutral
Varric - friends
Vivienne - rivals, love to hate each other
Morrigan - ditto
Leliana - friends
Cullen - rival
Scribbles - probably friendly
