Why do people think Cassandra is bi

Crush on her own brother? As if saying "I love you" to family is something outside. Or in any way related to what I had said about DA2...*smh*
We'll find out her sexual preferences eventually. No need getting worked up about it in the meantime.

It relate. DotS is canon and the Cassandra in it behave on line with her character profile. Cassandra says thing about her brother that are 10 times more suggestive than her "that's seems so...romantic" in DA2.

It's actually strangely refreshing that you're correlating perceived hints of incestuous romance with heterosexuality. That's quite a bold stance.
As for the question from the OP, what I want to know is, why do so many people believe she's going to be straight-gated? (that's my new word for heterosexuality, you can all use it too)

I'm not correlating anything. I like it when all the facts are on the table...
Personally, I think she is asexual...

That wouldn't keep her from being bisexual or straight.

Wouldn't that be biromantic, not bisexual?

People can express love for their brothers and sisters without it being evidence of sexual orientation. Because, in most cases, they can love their siblings without being sexually attracted to them.
I'm just saying, though, most of the time when people pull out incest, pedophilia, etc., in a discussion of sexuality, they're equating deviance with homosexuality. You taking the opposite stance is interesting, is all.

Except that I did not reference that line and instead pointed to an overall impression. It relate. DotS is canon and the Cassandra in it behave on line with her character profile. Cassandra says thing about her brother that are 10 times more suggestive than her "that's seems so...romantic" in DA2.

It would be both, though one term is more specific.

If you're talking about Varric teasing her about her having a crush and her getting flustered, my female Hawke got that too.I'm inclined to believe she's straight. The writers chose to differentiate her dialogue based on gender in a way that implies she has a crush on mHawke. In RL, this means nothing. In a story, it means quite a bit.

If you're talking about Varric trading her about her having a crush and her getting flustered, my female Hawke got that too.
Varric says something different to Cass about a female Hawke. He uses the word "hero worship" instead of crush.

heh. And this is why I avoided pointing to specifics at first.Varric says something different to Cass about a female Hawke. He uses the word "hero worship" instead of crush.
The impression i came away with was of a crush. I also am not certain Varric's word choice is as important as her own behaviour. *shrugs*

I don't know why people think that she is. Until I have more information, I'm not worried about it.

Pretty much. Also, a lot of folks aren't willing to take a kiss on the cheek she gave a male mage ~20 years ago as concrete proof that she's straight. If she is hetero, there's going to be some disappointment, but not a lot of surprise.
That would be because it is NOT proof that she's straight, concrete or otherwise. ![]()

This is where I am. But I figured I couldn't be the only one that got that impression during DA2 and was answering the original question as best i could. Not meaning to present it as hard evidence of a fact, but more a, I think this is where folk are coming from.I don't know why people think that she is. Until I have more information, I'm not worried about it.

No, it was just a comparison. No one says she was in love with him. ![]()

I don't know if she's going to be bi or not, but I seriously doubt they'd make her romance only available to humans. They'd need to make a lot more romances if they start race gating that severely. I mean, with Varric it makes sense if he was dwarf female only because he stated it in DA2, but for a 'new' character, it doesn't make sense.

I think she'll be bisexual for humans and elves. Or humans and qunari.

The People that think she is be, do so because of at least of these two Reasons:
a ) They want her to be bi.
and/or
b ) There has not been a foolproof Confirmation of her Attraction to any Gender.
Why is there Discussion again?

As others have pointed out, Varric's statement means nothing about Cassandra's actual sexuality. He's not psychic, you know.
