Are there players who would actually refuse to romance Cassandra with a male Inquisitor if she were bisexual, just because that wouldn't be "fair" somehow?  That seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I'm willing to bet the subject of her sexuality is barely scratched, other than whatever directly relates to the romance with the Inquisitor.  So, in my biased opinion, it shouldn't be a big deal either way.

We know that Cassandra loves hearts, which BOTH men and women have....

Unless one is a heartless undead thing, in which case HA! you don't get to romance Cassandra.  :P

Yep, she's a confirmed biophiliac.  :D

(That's lover of life, btw)

I am sure that our companions' sexual orientation in this game is dependent on their backstories and personalities, something akin to that of DAO. This will not be like DA2 where the romances are Hawkesexual.

Morrigan is straight because she was raised by Flemeth, a woman who viewed sex as a tool, a means to an end and had "company' in her house to satiate her desires.

Alistair is straight because he was brought up in a Chantry, among the Templars where traditional sexual roles were prevalent.

Leliana and Zevran are bisexuals because one is a bard and the other an assassin. People in this line of work would do well to be open minded in their sexual options.

Sten is non-romanceable because in Qunari culture there is no such thing as flirting or love. There is breeding program to produce offspring and the resulting progeny is raised by the society, so to speak. Hence, one could say that he is asexual.

Which brings us to Cassandra Pentaghast.

If we used similar train of logic, one could say that she is straight because she was never shown to have any romantic feelings for women. We only know of her dalliance with Regalyan, a human mage.

That being said, Cassandra is someone who values someone on their merit which means if the Inquisitor proved himself to be a honorable male, be it an elf or dwarf or Qunari or human, Cassandra would not have a problem romancing them.

At the same time, Cassandra is a butch female. She certainly looks the part and seems to behave as one. Now it might be because of her training as a hardcore warrior and Seeker but it is a known fact that in the generic sense, butch females tend to be either lesbians or bisexuals.

All in all, we need more data, more information from the developers to effectively say if Cassandra Pentaghast is a straight female or a bisexual female.

That's not how sexuality works. You aren't straight because of your upbringing. From a writer's standpoint, they might use the character's upbringing as a way to explore a particular sexuality. They might want to explore a straight Templar character and that's totally fine. But that's different than saying he's straight because he's a Templar.

I'd like to romance Cassandra as a woman. I just think her being straight is the most likely scenario.

She's quite lovely.

It's just that her features are more angular than the typical generic videogame female (and yet there are many women who have strong angular features like she does, and they make a killing in the fashion industry as successful models).

Also, her skin is not silky smooth and flawless like women are typically depicted. Everyone knows that only men are allowed to have lines and wrinkles in videogames.

Bioware is moving away from that. Cassandra has scars. Gasp, a woman with scars and skin that isn't airbrush smooth? Sacrilege! She's hideous! She's manly! There are no *good* options for straight men in this game!!111!

Make her Bi, BioWare. Female fans seem to appreciate her more. In general.

I tend to think she's straight because I think that there were originally 6 LIs planned and the NPCs will be the bisexual options and, since Sera is gay, Cass would be straight. But I am fully prepared to be totally wrong.

I dunno. I knew a guy from my Miranda fan days who is dead after Cass.

I'll likely be romancing her with a male inquisitor, whether she's bi or straight. However i do believe in fairness, which means there should be hetro-sexual companions just as there are same sex ones, so that means either Cassandra is straight or Vivienne is a LI too and is straight.

Here's the way I put it in a thread that got closed a while back;

I'm a straight, male gamer. I'm intending to romance Cassandra with a male inquisitor.

However, if Cassandra is also available to female players playing female inquisitors, that doesn't harm me in any way. It doesn't hurt my experience playing the game. I don't gain anything by Cassandra being exclusive to male inquisitors.

So I don't see a reason why she shouldn't be available to everyone.

But then, I used that argument in favor of all LI's being bisexual.

Cassandra is the oldest of all the companions in DAI except maybe Varric. They probably mused over her sexuality when defining her character long before the DAI romance question were raised. Whatever gender(s) she favor, it won't be because they decided the NPCs should be bisexual options for whatever reasons.

Is that true, because I think Blackwall is the oldest

I think they meant oldest in the production of the game, as in first person chosen to be a companion.

I think what was meant was that Cassandra was created by the writers earlier than any of the other companions except Varric. As a fictional character, she's been around the longest.

I think it's pretty hard to judge how old Iron Bull is, too, unless they've actually said.

What Sasha and Former_Fiend said. I meant in term of creation date, not fictional age.

Usually the poster girl has been available for both genders in BioWare games (Leliana = Origins, Isabela = DA2, Liara = Mass Effect), so its almost a semi-safe assumption that Cassandra COULD be bi. Then again, remembering Bastila (KOTOR), Dawn Star (Jade Empire), Morrigan (Origins) and Miranda (ME2), that may not be so.

Me, I personally hope Cass is bi since I really can't see any of my male Quizzies going for her (the straight ones will probably go for an LI that meets their race (dwarf/qunari/elf) or better paired with Vivienne/Scribbles (just a preference here). The gay ones will be riding the Bull or paired with Dorian/Solas, should Solas be an option).

A Fem Quizzie who prefers women but not all about Sera? Cassandra would be perfect.

Since when was Leliana DAO's poster girl? That was Morrigan. And ME1's(and arguably ME3's) poster girl was Ashley, who is straight.

The DA2 she seemed sexy and appealing - while at the same time aggressive, competent and focused. What I have seen so far in DAI - which admittedly is not much - she seems to be lacking feminity. Some may think that makes her likely to be bi

Wouldn't that qualify them as sexist?

Personally I never liked her in DA2, in terms of appearance. I felt the stylized artstyle of DA2 made Cassandra look too much like a cartoon character and not enough like a human being.

Yes, I think they originally planned to create six LI's with the advisors being bisexual options. Maybe the six LI's are from the survey. Cassandra and Blackwall being straight, the advisors being bisexual and dorian and sera being the same sex options. and then, they decided to move on with 2 additional bisexual race gated love interests (maybe Iron Bull available to qunaris and humans, and Vvienne available to humans, elves and dwarfs).

Yeah.  I wasn't really too fond of the artstyle in DA2 either.

I actually really liked the art style in DA2. It was the only game in which I was ever able to create a character that didn't look hideous. lol
