I never understood the one with the scarecrow and the pumpkins.

Maybe I should be glad that I don't visit the brothels in Thedas unless directed to do so for a quest.

You don't have to agree 100% with your LI to romance them. You don't even have to get along.
Well it was da 2... everyone was stupid or insane.
*Claps*
Can we agree that DA2 shouldn't even be considered canon at this point? lol

I dislike that, as that's how we got crap like DA2's rivalmances, which could at times go into the abusive zone. Why romance someone you don't like?

For the first time since the New Year, I agree with you TKS.

Rivalmances made me uncomfortable as well.

None of the stories that Varric tells are canon ![]()
(Oh crap, my girlfriend is going to kill me for saying that
)

I know when I rivaled someone I felt like was supposed to start beating them. It was really bad.
Back to the topic I don't see my mage inquisitor having a good time romancing Viv and Casandra. Something tells me they won't like the idea of me taking the Chantry down and giving mages more freedom.
Guess its going to be Scribbles or celibacy!
Rivalmances made me uncomfortable as well.
Fenris and Anders were very bad.

So I've seen. I haven't done any of the rivalmances, but I've watched the videos.
Personally, I'm glad that Iron Bull and the rogues are around. I'm not sure if I can romance any of them (except Sera of course, but I'm not pushing for a romance with her,) but it'll be nice to have the peanut gallery to chuckle at the rest of them with. I've never really been able to pick a side between the whole mage and templar thing, and after reading Asunder, it's just flat out impossible for me.

If I can find the original link (in the original/first Varric thread) where Mary Kirby discusses the "writing process" for The Pearl's "Surprise Me" options, I will post them here. XD

I stayed away from Anders like he was radioactive, but I got within 10 feet of the Fenris rivalmance before I just had to scream "ABORT! ABORT!" On the other hand, I thought the Isabella rivalmance worked just fine. Merrill was a bit more iffy.

I'm thinking the scribe girl will be a romance, because I really don't see it for Vivienne.
Cassandra doesn't appeal to me either but I just see it as the game making it easy for me to choose my canon playthrough. I think this'll be the first BW game where my personal canon protag is a female.
And Cullen has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with that.
Blackwall counts as a neutral party! He's just got another quasi-oppressive organization to complain about.
Good point! At least I'm curious about the Wardens, especially once the events of Legacy got added to the timeline. I guess that's why they are getting the mage/templar stuff out of the way early. I think the DA team knows the majority of fans are more than done with that whole plot.
If it is resolved early, then hopefully that won't be a huge story arc in our romances, except for the inevitable bickering between party members.
Yeahhh the Anders rivalmance.. It was.. not a happy one. I watched the videos because I couldn't bring myself to do it, and I just.. Why? Why, Hawke, would you want to screw the guy who just said he doesn't know if he should kill you or not?
*shudder*
If they made a distinction between simply disagreeing with a companion and treating them badly, they could do a "rival" romance.

Not mention that the rivalmance seems to really rip Anders up even more.

Here's how the "Surprise Me" options came to be.
Just discovered that it was in the 2.0 thread, not the first one.

Rivalmances made me uncomfortable as well.
I never rivalmanced anyone because it just seemed so hurtful and wrong.
I loved the rivalmances. (Well, three of them. I wasn't as fond of Merrill's, because I hate arguing with her. Friendmancing her with a blood mage was a lot more fun.) Rivalmancing Fenris as a mage was my favourite romance experience in BioWare history.
They're one of the things I think I'm going to miss in Inquisition, and I wish they'd been in DAO as well. I'd have loved to rivalmance Morrigan, for example.
Isabela had the most decent rivalmance. It was an relationship that wasn't too antagonistic, Isabela got annoyed with Hawke at worst, and hey, watch this video, and tell if she doesn't change for the best:
I personally came to dislike friendmances. It feels like Hawke just give in to the companions problematic behaviours.

If anything Asunder just made it even more obvious for me ![]()

I agree hopefully we will move on to other more interesting conflicts (orlais civil war, solving the breach thing,..and more)
I mean it definitely was interesting in the beginning but we already had a full game detailing it
it would be like if there was another blight (we already had that one too)
Whoever floats your boat. Thats the way to go
