Do you think we'll see any of them besides Varric? If so, what will they do? Do you want to see them again?

 

I think we'd already know if any of them besides Varric had a major role... since we already know which DAO companions do. Although there's always room for surprises I guess. 

 

I'm hoping for Anders to show up. I feel that if he didn't die, he is still very important to the story considering he's the cause of so much destruction. I wonder what'd he do exactly... Maybe Merrill would appear if the eluvians are relevant to the story like I think they are? I really don't want her to get into more trouble though lol.

 

I don't want a cameofest though. XD Best not to spend too much resources with old characters if they're not very important, I guess. What do you think?

I don't really expect them to, but if any do, I believe it would be Isabela and/or Anders.  Isabela because she is a world traveler, Anders because of his role as the catalyst in the Mage/Templar war.

I think a guest appearance by Hawke's sibling, if alive, would be nice (especially if a Warden). The others seem unlikely, other than possibly Isabela or Anders, like Gannayev of Dreams says. I'd say Aveline is 90% out due to the fact she'd basically built a life for herself in Kirkwall. Fenris I don't know, but he would have little reason to show up, as would Merrill.

I want the Isabela and that stiff worker from the Blooming Rose, that way I can properly balance out the depressing vibes.

Hawke's sibling?? There are so many outcomes to them they'd have to make at least four different scenes for them... Doesn't seem worth it imo.

 

I agree that it seems Fenris has little reason to show up.

 

And it would indeed make sense for Isabela to appear. But I don't see her being very relevant at all so I wouldn't really miss her cameo even if I like her at all and sex with her and Zev has been an option in every game so far lol.

I think the only thing ill miss from the DA2 companions is Merrills social awkwardness that i found cute

Aveline should be alive in all playthrough of DA2 and she was given the option to return to Ferelden in Act 3 and seems to be keeping an eye on it. After the events of 9:37, I can see her taking refugee in the King's Guards of Ferelden.

Not really a companion but Feynreil (sp?) had a story arc that spanned the ACTs of DA2 and I wonder if he will show up in the game or if they meant for him to?

I loved Da2 but I'd largely prefer not to see them if hawke's not going to be there. I'd like to retain the notion of my hawke and his Isabela off in trouble together. Siblings could be interesting but appearance would be problematic.

I can see Merrill working for Morrigan actually, in one of the scenarios.

Aveline can be in Kirkwall (but she is not questioned in DA2 epilogue so...) or in Ferelden

Isabela - anywhere, with anyone.

It would be interesting, but I think it would be hard to do well - the sibling's appearance being the most obvious issue, but the variations in a rival vs. friend version of some of the characters would make some of the other personalities hard to determine as well.

 

That said, if we're going to see them, an amusing Isabela cameo or a passing Anders appearance (I imagine there will be a reference to him regardless of his live/dead status since there's mage/templar stuff happening) would probably be the two that would make the most sense.  Personally I hope the cameos are thin on the ground - I'd rather see more of new characters.

I can see Merrill being in a Dalish camp (that we'll slaughter, again) Isabella already had a comic and her story is largely done I think.

I think Anders should make a brief appearance, atleast.

Overall, I wouldn't mind them being mentioned in passing by companions, barkeeps or maybe via espionage reports from Lelianna.

I could see Aveline make an appearance in Orlais, chasing up the plot thread started in Mark of the Assassin regarding her family.

 

Fenris might make an appearance if for no other reason that every western RPG must have at least one NPC, minor or otherwise, voiced by Gideon Emery.

I'd be most interested in seeing Isabela or Anders. I can see Anders appearing (or at least being mentioned, if dead) because of his cause being so relevant to the plot, but Isabela is wishful thinking.

Merrill's VA is confirmed to not be returning in DAI.

 

Though I guess that doesn't preclude Merrill returning...

 

At any rate, I'd prefer not to have returning companions.  The risk of fan rage over how they look/act different would simply be too high.

 

I was even worried about Varric's return until I learned he's got the same writer.

I'd rather not see Merrill at all than have her recast. I looooove Eve Myles as her, Kinda sad she won't be around, but I'll deal. Better than having a terrible cameo...

It could just be LI of Hawke passing through on the search for him or her subsequently explaining the circumstances of his or her disappearance and possible whereabouts.

If they handle it the way they did in DAII - no, thanks. Besides, most of them don't really have a reason to appear.

As for the others, so long as they're implemented in a way that makes sense and isn't just "Hey, look! It's that companion you used to run around with. Isn't that cool!" then I have no problem with cameos.

Alright.  Who says Hawke isn't involved, too?  Besides, not all Hawkes got serious with Bela.

 

In all seriousness, I don't see it happening.  It's just gonna feel a little strange without my ritual rendezvous with Zev and Isabela.

I think Isabela has a fairly good chance of reappearing because she was in DA:O and DA2. It'd be a shame if she missed the third installment.

 

Merril is a possibility too because of the work she did on the eluvian. Depends on how important they are to the story.

 

Anders and sibling have a chance to be dead, but there are a few options for them not to be. Especially if it's Carver.

I'd like to see Merrill , she wasn't my favorite character , but I feel like her story ended in a strange place.

Ten years working on something that never worked...I made her smash the mirror.

I didn't really like what she was doing , but she was willing to sacrifice her own life for it.

So if we have some working Eluvian in DAI , and the Inquisition needs a specialist...I would want her.

I like Merrill way more than Briala for example.

And Morrigan already had a lot of things going on for her.
