I loved the way specialisations were unlocked in DAO and was sad to see them go in DA2, Personally I'm hoping for a return to the original style, especially seen as how the new specialisations are particularly interesting. If this was in the game how would you want to unlock them? I think someone mentioned on one of the threads that Dorian knows necromancy so maybe we unlock that specialisation through dialogue with him. Discuss.
Roleplaying potential of specialisations.

I'm thinking that perhaps the companions and advisers might help unlock some of the specializations. If I recall correctly, the developers said they wanted the player's acquisition of the specialization to be more than simply "pressing a button", so there might be some work involved in mastering the skills.

Yeah, I had a hard time figuring out how in Thedas my Hawke had access to Templar training.
I'll be glad if they're unlockable like they were in Origins, with some coming from companions and others from completing special objectives.
They might be using the Inquisition forces as a way of obtaining specialisations, too. Perhaps you can send people to do research or something.

I've always hoped for a side quest that was linked to the specialisation that would allow you to gain said specialisation if you picked the correct dialogue.

I'm a firm believer that the 9 companions are all representative of the 9 specializations and that they will be the ones to teach you said specialization if you wish, in which case I hope so. As much as I loved the "unique" specs, they weren't all "that" unique to begin with when it came down to roles in combat so I'd rather they had fighting styles that can be learned, it'd make sense for me lorewise. + that and that Iron Bull was revealed to be a Reaver in the leaked dwarf footage, that and Solas seems to be a rift mage (whatever that entails) while Dorian is pretty much confirmed to be a necromancer of some form.

Om-nom-nom.

a few guesses:
Champion - learning by talking/sparring with Cassandra/Blackwall/other noble knight
Templar - learning by talking/sparring with Cullen/Evangeline/other templar
Reaver - preparing dragon/wyvern blood quest? or learning from the iron bull
Artificer - learning from Dagna
Assassin - learning from Cole/Zevran/another assassin/ crows allies?
Tempest - learning from Sera/Leliana/ famous thief/rogue ?
Knight enchanter - learning from vivienne
necromancer - learning from Dorian
Rift mage - learning from solas

Yeap. Just to throw a wrench - it takes mere seconds to learn how to be a reaver/templar/etc...
So the roleplaying/immersion is real.
Sarcasm aside, I don't really care how I learn things as long as I learn them. I can't wait to be a rift mage. Or necromancer? Eh, Rift sounds cooler. But I like the idea of necro...ehh...but if I'm going to have Dorian in my party I think I'll be rift mage.
I'm kind of liking that you can only be one specialization though.
Ooh. Also, I hope they include class specific actions during cut scenes and what not. It'd be even cooler if they were specialization-specific but that'd just consume too many resources for something not important.
