Okay, so I received Limbs' data (and a few matches that Pint asked her to record), so I counted out characters and threw this list together. I don't know if Pint recorded additional data on his own, so this may not be the final version, but it's what I have so far. First off, I recorded 73 lobbies since last Thursday (...or Friday, not 100%), Limbs got 41 games, and she recorded 6 of Pint's, bringing us to a nice even total of 120. We had each planned to play more than this, but it didn't quite work out, for a number of reasons. In addition to that, cato sent me an additional 20 lobbies worth of characters, bringing us up to 140 total lobbies observed.
Note: Just because we recorded a lobby's kits does not mean we actually played in it. I personally left every lobby that had preset both map and enemy (or Collectors), and I believe Limbs did something similar.
Microphone usage
Although Limbs and I never plugged our mics in while pugging, we did record the number of pugs who had theirs connected. Combined, we ran into 87 people who did, and of those, 50 of them were actively using them (or a 57.5% talking rate). Of the six games I have from Pint, he did not record microphone data, but to be fair, neither Limbs nor I told each other that we had been doing it until last night

Onwards to what everyone wants to see.
Kit usage
Taking
first place by a landslide, we have the trusty
Geth Juggernaut, with 53 sightings. While this was definitely expected, it's margin of victory was quite surprising.
Charging his way into
second place, the
N7 Slayer was spotted 19 times. Never would we have thought that a vanguard would beat out the likes of a TGI or an AIU.
In
third place, we have a tie between the
AIU, and the Shadow, 17 sightings each. Again, this was surprising in a few ways. One, of all the "non-crutch" infiltrators, the Shadow is one of the last we expected to see in the top three; and two, the TGI is nowhere to be seen. We also expected the AIU to be seen more than it was.
Occupying
fourth place, we have the
N7 Destroyer, 15 sightings. Sadly, most of the Destroyers that I personally ran into were equipped with either Strikers or Adases (Adi?), but my colleagues didn't share this trend.
Fifth place is a three-way tie between the
N7 Fury, N7 Paladin, and the Cabal, 14 sightings each. The Fury's top-five finish is no surprise, although the Cabal was a bit unexpected. The Paladin ranked as expected
For
sixth place, we have the average pug workhorse known as the
Geth Trooper, at 13 sightings. We expected it to rank higher, but here we are.
In
seventh place is the
Collector Adept, 12 sightings. This one was also a bit surprising, given the wonkiness of his powers off-host, and the average pug will struggle to balance power use in an effective manner, but there's still plenty of these sentient cockroaches running around.
Eighth place is a tie between the
TGI and N7 Demolisher, at 11 sightings each. We expected so much more from the Turian Ghost, but are pleasantly surprised to see him near the bottom of the ladder. The Demolisher did slightly better than expected, but not much.
Solidly taking up
ninth place (and 90% of your screen) is the
Krogan Warlord, 10 sightings. He's large and in charge, but according to the pugs we observed, it's definitely not Hammer Time.
Tenth place is packed to the gills, housing the
Geth Infiltrator, Justicar, Vanilla Soldier, Asari Vanguard, Turian Sentinel, and Krogan Vanguard, all at 9 sightings. We're glad that some Asari made the cut, but expected classes like the GI and Turian Sentinel to place higher than they did.
The rest8 sightings: Krosent, Talon Merc, Asari Adept, Vorcha Soldier, Turian Havoc, Vorcha Sentinel.
7 sightings: Vanilla Human Engineer, Vanilla Human Soldier, Drell Infiltrator, Salarian Infiltrator, Asari Huntress
6 sightings: Salarian Engineer, BF3 Soldier, Drell Adept
5 sightings: QFI, QFE, Smashdept, Salarian Infiltrator, Vanilla Sentinel, Vanilla Infiltrator, QMI, Krogan Soldier,
4 sightings: Vorcha Hunter, Smashguard, QME, Geth Engineer, Batarian Vanguard, Vanilla Adept, Batarian Sentinel, Vanilla Vanguard
3 sightings: Batarian Soldier, Volus Engineer, Batarian Adept
2 sightings: Turian Soldier, Asari Valkyrie, Turian Saboteur*, Drell Vanguard,
1 sighting: Krogan Shaman
Extinct: Volus Adept, Quarian Marksman, Volus Mercenary, Volus Protector
* Recorded twice in Pint's games, but as it was using the same weapon in each match, I erred on the side of caution and threw one away in case it was the same player both times.
A list of weapons and a few extra statistics will come in the next couple days, as it's fairly late here (and if I do any more typing, I'm going to give myself Carpal tunnel syndrome). Like I said in the opening paragraph, Pint may be sitting on more data, so there is a possibility that this is not the final version. It's just what I was able to get tonight.
Edit: Big thanks to
cato for passing me data that completely changed the playing field, bumping a large number of classes out of the top ten, and bringing the Krogan Shaman back from extinction. Any other PS3 players wishing to contribute data from
Gold matches can PM me for more information.
