Briala has started to do something epic and personal. If it succeeds, it'll be due to the Inquisitor's aid.

It's not over, but she's gotten farther than anyone. All my own characters have fumbled in darkness compared to her. As many ruins and secrets I supposedly discovered, I didn't get anywhere close to that. Nor did poor Merrill.

I think that might be the point. Kirkwall is not a sane or reasonable city; madness and treachery are written into its very stones. It's a fitting place to make everything start exploding, and having everything be so sharply divided better foreshadows the total lack of compromise at the end, or at least it seems that way to me.

I assume the irony in this response was not intentional.

Merrill actually almost got there, she just was missing one final piece. Hell, she may have gotten there anyway, but the game ended too soon to see it.

I've seen it.

Can't I just go to tevinter, become a Magister and make frowny faces at the Qunari?

Assuming you're a fiend, mayhaps.

A fiend? No. A person that wants to end the OCW, yes.

Which you should be able to do by siding with Briala.

If DAI allows us to interfere with Briala's success, that's fine. I think it'd be a damn shame though to shut out all hint of Eluvian just because we shut down Briala. It's not an element in the world I wish left in everyone's hands. Because if that happens, then they have to cater to the even least common choice. And it never gets done justice in any main plot point again.

Without outside aid, she'd have to have it continue, but with the Inquisition's help, it can end favorably for her.

Ha, nope. She wants to prolong the fighting as long as possible. She wants to "hamstring" whoever is winning.

Or we could just smash all the mirrors, blow up the network, and be done with it.

See above post.

You could, if you were unable to appreciate such an advantage for a friend of the Inquisition.

We could. But I find it just as lame as destroying the Chantry.

Put these big choices in any player's hands and it's potential just ends up sucking for everyone.

Rachni queen, everybody. Rachni. Queen.

And if you want to go down the evil and dishonorable path, that's totally an option.

Why would that be considered evil? Granted, I think all 3  are pretty terrible people, but I'd say Briala isn't helping things by prolonging the war.

Betraying an ally to steal their stuff seems fairly bad to me. And I see no evidence for Briala being a terrible person.

No, nowhere in the book it seems she wanted to prolong the war becuase she has no outside help.
And what is the outcome she can obtain with the help of the Inquisition?

Sucks for me.

Prolonging the war so that more innocent people will die isn't exactly nice. It's not and goal to do so, but it's one of the effects of her tactics.

The most likely in my mind right now is having the Inquisitor pressure Celene into a peace advantageous for the city elves, and potentially an independent Dales.

Good traits and bad traits, but..

I see all of their main concerns and goals as good. Celene's dream is academic in a way. She wants an enlightened future for Orlais. Gaspard wants a safe one, and sees Celene as not as prepared, Briala wants justice for elves.
