You know?  There is an ignore function now, just saying.

That would be too easy.

Good point.

Templar, good luck on this forum if you think the best way to deal with posters disagreeing with your preferred fictional faction in a video game is to insult them.  You're gonna need it.

I'll back off and just watch the rest of the debate.   :)

If you take insult from a comment regarding a fictional organization which wasn't even personally directed at you, then you should probably ponder about the fact wether the internet is a place for you.

Just sayin.

I suppose it wasn't, no. Perhaps you're right and more caution needs to be advocated around the mage but there has to be a balance between treating them like prisoners and letting them walk all over you. The current state of mages producing magical items within their Circles makes them little more than sweatshops.

Orlais' Circle is in Emperor Drakon's former palace. That is hardly a "sweatshop".

And if technology independent of mages was developed, what value would there be in mages at all? Would you then be in favour of the systematic purging of mages, simply due to the fact that they might pose a danger? Who knows, perhaps the new technology might open up new applications of magic.

If technology independent of magic was developed, there would significantly less chances of mages economically dominating society's infrastructure and normal people would be more capable of defending themselves (you got a fireball? I got a rifle.) and I would thus be more pro-mage.

If someone is insulting you, hit the report button and stop responding to any of that persons posts and move on to another thread.

Because you can't be raped or executed in a city? And you can't find psychologically damaged people willing to commit suicide in a city? There can also be no poor rulers who make their subject's life a living hell? That ocurrs only in Circles?

There's no evidence Aneirin was being abused.

"that one blood mage who was apparently being stalked by multiple templars" That's a bad thing now?

Oh, don't get me wrong, most of Thedas' cities and governments suck too, but that's not the subject of this thread.

Also, Wynne admits it for Aneirin. And the blood mage I referred to only rebelled because of the stalking.

The way to go about it is to report and ignore.   Getting into a fight is not going to result in anything but you getting banned.

So far you haven't actually contributed anything to the discussion but insults. If you have something to say about Mages and Templars, say it. Please, make a point rather than attack the people trying to have a conversation.

To be fair, Xil's comments were not about Templars but their suporters and it could be interpreted as insultuous given his dismissal of us.

Still, in this situation, it's preferable to be the bigger man and ignore it rather than respond in kind.

The structure doesn't matter. It's still a prison they're confined to where they're expected to produce a stream of magical goods. As for economic domination, do you really believe that the profits go back to the Circle? More than likely they're claimed by the local Chantry.

Mr.Gaider has already confirmed all profits go to the Circle.

They aren't expected to produce anything, they do it to be able to provide for themselces like everybody else does.

As for economical domination. If mages were permitted to be their own watchers and insinuate themselves in any business? Then undoubtedly so, it would come to pass.

I suppose I'm at a disadvantage, having only lurked around for a few weeks. I wasn't aware of Gaider's statement and there's probably lots more I don't know about.

I'll crawl off to sleep before I make any more of a fool of myself. Enjoy the banter, Templar and Mage fans alike!

Sleep well.  Also, don't be ashamed that you're still learning the lore.  I was there once too.  ;)

JB, you know I have big plans for mages in business. All it takes is one Thedosian capitalist to get this ball rolling. It can't be stopped.  :P

You mean her. Xil is a woman. Just putting it out there.

I wholeheartedly agree that we can all disagree and keep our composure. There's no reason anyone here needs to take a disagreement over a video game personally, after all. We all have our own views, perspectives, and opinions.

Don't worry about it. No one on this board knows everything, and even the developers make mistakes sometimes. No one is perfect. :)

Thankfully, the games are unlikely to ever go there or yes, it would be nigh impossible to stop.

I'm surprised the mages are not smart enough to see the Lucrosians are the most potentially dangerous fraternity. There might be some logistics we aren't aware of or maybe the writers just aren't interested in taking it down that path.

I think we're a ways away from the rise of the Lyrium Valley Mage-Industrialist.
