I don't recall her fighting mages anywhere else than inside Redcliffe Castle. But then again, I didn't really pay attention to what was going on on-screen as much as to what was being said.

The group of Templars, is actually a group of Templars and Mages fighting each others and both side turn on the Inquisitor's party.

But there isn't actually anything to suggest that. Just because both factions are lead by mages doesn't mean they are allied after all. Also, if the Inquisitor in that world state allied with the mages (which evidently she did, since she was fighting Templars on her way to Redcliffe Castle), then it makes even less sense to connect the two.

In the dwarven demo, the Inquisitor is seen fighting both Templars and mages (normal Southern Templars and mages) in the Hinterlands. Therefore, it is quite possible the first trip to the Hinterlands is when we make the selection regarding which faction to support while the scene where we see Redcliff castle being swallowed by the Fade ocurrs at a much later stage and happens if you support the mages.

As for the reasons, who knows? Maybe the mage leadership thought it could use the Inquisition while keeping contact with Tevinter allies. Our support and resources thus empowered Tevinter as well which enabled them to reach and take over Redcliff.

Or perhaps, if you side with the Templars desperation forced the mages to seek help of the Venatori.

Good point. However, I believe one of the producers specifically said this was the result of siding with the mages.

But don't quote me on it, I'm not sure.

I personally think that in the pro-mage choice the venatori will come up and fight/defeat mages, and that in the pro-templar choice the Red templars would have the former's role.
The theory of both the RT and the Venatori working together and with the Big Bad seems very likely to me.

There it is. As you can see, Templars and mages are fighting on the Hinterlands and the Inquisitor steps in and calmy serves as a third party so peace negotiations can commence.

It was Indeed said that the PC chose to support mages.

Wow.  That's interesting.

Edit: Love the post with the picture, but I'd cut out the pic if you're gonna quote it, so it doesn't take up too much room.

Yup. That's why a think RT will come up if you supported templars.

Yeah.  That's probably a good guess.

I'd also like to take a moment and say again that I'm glad neither seem to be stuck wearing robes and skirts again :P

Also I noticed that the mage had a outfit similar to the Dalish Arcane Warrior in Heroes of Dragon Age

Agree. However, I think the RT's are indirectly serving the Big Bad's purposes, while the Venatori are the bad guy's main forces.

I believe that both times the mage NPC in question was named "Spellbinder" and their main attack was casting runes on the ground. Then, they could teleport in a flurry of pages.

A Venatori mage in the old demo had one too, It most likely is a certain mage NPC class

I'm s0rt of hoping Cullen is next, will be interesting to see iwhat happen witrh him and how he has changed. Mayne he become a knight-commander and didn't ggo off like the rest of the templars.

Perhaps he became Knight Commander of the Gallows.

I'm pretty sure he didn't join the rest of the templars. I don't think he'd be a pillar/general of the Inquisition if he did.

So it would make sense for Conjurers and spellbinders to use books lol :P

Perfectly normal Templars, no Red Lyrium in sight.
