This idea came to me yesterday because I wanted to play the spanish version of DA:O to brush-up on my language skills. I imagine there are also a lot of expatriates who live outside their region of origin who would love to play your games in their mother tongues, and countless other reasons to desire access to other languages for the games.

I understand that there is only so much space on discs for physical editions, and that unlike Steam, Orgin (The EA client) does not support the downloading of language packs with a click.

How about putting out the language packs as free DLCs, so we can play in any language we fancy?

Dragon Age: Inquisition, as well as most past BioWare titles, support language selection depending on your gaming platform. For the most part, setting your console language will set the game language to match, so switching your console to Spanish will get you a Spanish game with English VO. In the past, the PC version would ask you to select your language during installation. Now with the Origin client, it is similar to consoles where the language installed is based off of your Origin language. Adding a feature like per-game language selection is something I am sure we would all like to see in the future. Language availability is also based on your region for consoles, especially for Sony. For example, in the Sony Japanese region, we only include English and Japanese text with English VO. We haven't had any demand for Spanish in that region. :)

We will have an English VO pack for both Xbox 360 and PC, for those customers in French and German language regions at no additional charge. The Xbox 360 disc version only has room for one VO language, so this makes it easier to get access to this option. For PC, since English text comes with French and German by default, the English VO pack allows for these customers to have this option without changing their Origin client language. For the other consoles, English VO will be available on the disc.

Now, on to your original question. Aside from the above English VO pack, we have no plans to do languages as DLC. Since their are functional workarounds for this feature request, the next thing we have to look at is the cost and the time. It takes time to make and manage all these different possible packs, on all 5 platforms, and it costs to put these into Sony and Microsoft. Charging for these packs feels wrong, and I could easily imagine the community outrage at the concept. Putting all these factors together, I cannot see us doing something like this unless something fundamental changes. Especially with the existing workaround, as inelegant as they may be.
