Don't kill me for this but - same difference.

Absolutely, without a doubt untrue.  Bisexual =/= playersexual.

Bisexual = attracted to both males and females

Playersexual = sexuality is determined by player gender (i.e. straight with a female PC and gay with a male PC)

Not the same at all.

No confirmation on anyone, but I'd guess the LI's race gated are ones who were added in when Bioware got the extra year of time.

Wait, they did add race gating?  Hahahaha, I was told they wouldn't ever dare! Baldur's Gate strikes again. :bandit:

Okay, okay, putting aside the guillotine. I can see where you're coming from in that the effect on who they are available to romance is the same. But the difference is in their sexuality being an actual aspect of the character if they are bisexual rather than something that is not defined if they are playersexual. They seem to be clearly making sexuality an aspect of the character for this game.

Yeah, they confirmed race-gating, but we don't know how it will work.  All we know is that some gender/race/sexuality combinations will have more options than others.  I tend to suspect that they used the extra dev time to add in an extra LI or two and that those will be race-gated (such as Iron Bull, who probably had some animation issues).  I tend to think that there will be two un-gated (by race) options for every gender/sexuality/race combination and that a few others will get one or two more depending on race.

On the plus side Race gating probably means more LIs in general so that's good news for those of us who like to relay as different races 7 or 8 times

I sincerely hope that there are not gay people on the forums who want straight men to get less options as payback.  I'm sure that there are some, but they certainly aren't the majority.

However, it seems that many (myself included) gay people and straight gals kind of have a "suck it up" attitude about this because the reaction from straight guys who are very, very vocal about the possibility of getting less romance options seems odd given that very few of those same posters were upset when DA: O came out (or BG 2 or JE or ME 1 or ME 2 or ME 3 or NWN or SWTOR or KOTOR) and the exact same thing was happening to other people (straight women, gay men, and gay women).

I'm certainly not saying that it's fair or that I want it to be this way.  If I had my way, we would all get two options and that would be that.  Equal, fair, perfect.  But I do kind of think, "Yeah, it sucks, but you'll get through it.  The rest of us did when it happened to us."  At least that's my thoughts on it.

Very true your right i just wish bioware would give out some options for others people.

For characterization they're different and matter to a small dull point.

Mechanically speaking making a character bi or "playersexual'' kinda do actually Work the same.

The player can only choose between two genders and I'm not to sure if they'll actually make Qunarisexual a thing.

And anyway no character in Any Dragon Age game has been playsersexual(I wont argue for or against Merrill) So theres not really any context to how it would be done in any of these gamess..

Agreed on both points.  Mechanically, they work the same.  Plotwise, totally different.

And, also agreed that there hasn't even been playersexual characters in any Bioware game, so it's really a bit of a Chicken Little thing, in my opinion.

I feel you. I know what you're saying. And for all intents and purposes, I agree with you. But my question about Cass and Cullen's sexualities is asked mainly to find out which genders can romance either of them. In that sense, I lumped playersexual in with bisexual. I am lazy and didn't see a point in differentiating since I really don't care if the character explains that he/she is bi, or just robotically becomes gay or straight depending on the PC's gender.

If it's true that BioWare was not concerned with fairness in regards to romances and the game is all about choice, they should have just made every romance option bi. Then, threads like this wouldn't exist, fans could moan about how too many choices is being unfair (to this group or that) and BioWare could shrug it's shoulders and say, "Hey, the player is free to romance whomever they want." Everyone wins!

Here's to courting controversy... Real or contrived!

They tried that with DA2.  It went over like the Hindenburg for some people.

Maybe in their next game series they should just say that 99% of the population is bi, like the 51st century in Doctor Who. Then you could romance whoever and no one could say anything.

Well this thread doesn't have to be volatile or anything. I just want to know what Cass and Cullen are since they were confirmed LI's. I don't even plan on romancing either of them.

Of course it did, there would always be people who for a lack of a better term whine, it is coded within the psyche of most 21th adults to act like a petulant children when they don’t get their way, its a sickness really.

However making every romance option bi would cause a lot less mayhem in the long run, less of a reason to whine so to say.

Oh and Tremere, love the gif "Hunt or be hunted..." ...i love that line.

Bioware is adding set sexualities because it's what they wanted to do

What I didn't like about DA2 in regards to males was that they practically threw Isabella in your lap and made (smarmy) Anders and moody Fenris just too easy. The only sure way to avoid romance options with either of the males was to make sure that you weren't too friendly. No small task with that paraphrasing dialogue wheel.  <_<

That was not the debate Tremere was just pointing out how choosing to make everyone bi would make things less hectic around here.

Bioware can do whatever they want…Hell they can set themselves on fire that does not mean its a good idea <--- (this is meant as an exaggeration and as a touch of sarcasm, so please no idiotic responses).

I'm pretty sure that the only sure way to avoid romance options is to not click the heart option......?  Yeah, Anders will flirt with you, but you can reject him and move on.  You can't get ninjamanced in DA 2 unless you click the heart, in which case, not really a ninjamance.

I get that, but I'm sure Bioware already it would get hectic regardless so they probably don't care about that all that much anymore

A lot of people, apparently.  You cared enough to come by, post, and by doing that helped keep the thread at the top of the thread at the top of the page.   So thank you.   ;)

It would always get hectic, just less so if they went with "everyone is bi!" option...i would think they would want to save themselves the headache.

But as i said they are free to do as they will, and if they want to deal with an increased amount of excessive whining by taking the path of increased resistance then so be it, hope they packed a lot of aspirin.
