Ummmmmmm, aren't lesbians homosexuals too?
Or some species from planet Aphrodite?
I think they just want to be specific since gay could mean happy, and everyone knows people choose to be gay because it's so fun.

Aphrodite lady, seashell bikini...
Obviously you care
but really
Who cares?
If that isn’t a joke then this has to be one of the most inane sentences i have heard all week, congratulations.

It would always get hectic, just less so if they went with "everyone is bi!" option...i would think they would want to save themselves the headache.
But as i said they are free to do as they will, and if they want to deal with an increased amount of excessive whining by taking the path of increased resistance then so be it, hope they packed a lot of aspirin.
Unless I completely misunderstood, it was mentioned in another thread that romances were also a product of budgetary concerns, so that may explain why they didn't go that route. I say, "In for a penny... In for a pound." If you're already investing millions of dollars in the production of a game, how much does it really matter? Of course, I'm on the outside looking in so my perspective is understandably skewered.
A lot of people, apparently. You cared enough to come by, post, and by doing that helped keep the thread at the top of the thread at the top of the page. So thank you.
They are from the planet Sapphos.

True they did say that their choice stemmed to an extent from budgetary concerns, even if you have 8 romances instead of say 6 if those 8 require a specific gender or race to unlock unlike said 6 which are open to all then people would view the "new and improved" 8 as them getting short changed.
Technically they would be right as each gender and orientation would receive less option so more becomes less and thus beings the a storm of whining.

"Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."
Sounds right up your alley ![]()

*Bingo!* But still... If, if, if. Just do it. People are going to whine either way, so err on the side of choice.
Release the chart BioWare!
Let us properly slay one another!
What I didn't like about DA2 in regards to males was that they practically threw Isabella in your lap and made (smarmy) Anders and moody Fenris just too easy. The only sure way to avoid romance options with either of the males was to make sure that you weren't too friendly. No small task with that paraphrasing dialogue wheel.
There was a giant glowing heart that let you know when you were being too friendly.
How exactly was it hard NOT to press the big glowing heart?

Indeed, never give yourself any more grief then you have to its just counterproductive.

It sounds so simple when you put it that way, yet I have still to get through a game of DA2 without having to shoo Merrill off the doorstop.
This is the second time you've used that gif and I still don't get it. I have to ask, what am I looking at? It's a guy wiping his nose, right? What does it mean?
CM Punk, former WWE Superstar who was dropping pipe bombs and speaking the truth.
In short, the poster is upset because they haven't revealed Cass yet, and he wants her for straight men only. Whereas I'm hoping both Cullen and Cassandra are bisexual, though I suspect it more for Cass.
Cullen is probably straight and I have a feeling Vivienne is bi and Cass is straight?

I have the opposite feeling about the ladies, but to each their own. ![]()
This is a video game, not a court of law.
Ok, so what if females only got 1 romance option? Would that be ok with you??

Elaborate why you think Cass is more likely to be bi than Viv please?

I've had the impression that she had a crush on a femHawke. I'm not taking Varric telling her that she has a case of hero worship as confirmation that she's straight. (Same with the kiss on the cheek from the anime.) Remember, she didn't say she had a case of hero worship, Varric did. And she still gets that wonderfully dopey look when she says, "It's just so...romantic."
I could see her easily falling in love with either gender, if they were noble, just and tried to do the honorable thing in all of their actions. I also think that she would be a bisexual LI in a small part because both men and women want a chance to romance Cassandra and she's our only female warrior in the party. I've seen plenty of folks of both genders that are tired of all the lady LIs either being mages or rogues. Especially the latter, but I digress.
With Vivienne, I wish I could put my finger on it, but she's straight to me. I wish I had a better answer than that, but I don't know quite as much about her. I don't take her country of origin as any "proof" that she's bisexual. That's about all I have to say about that. ![]()
Aveline was out female warrior in DA2 and she wasn't available to anyone so it'd be kind of funny/awesome if Cassandra turned out to be bi.

Merrill's the absolute worst example you could've picked. She doesn't even hit on MHawke first (not sure about FemHawke) only way to trigger her romance is to hit a heart with her. (That's true for everyone but every other LI at least hits on you, or does something that can be taken as a come on first). Not Merrill. If you never hit a heart with her the issue never comes up.
Same with Fenris. Pick the neutral option in his compliment conversation and that'd be the end of it.
Anders is the only one who forces you into a heart or heartbreak situation if you pick two diplo responses in a row. Everyone else Hawke hits on them first or there's always a neutral friendship out.
DA2 had many flaws. Forcing you into a romance was not one of them.
Merril??!?! I don't think of Merrill as someone who flirts. She is more of a Shrinking Violet than anything else.

Not sure if it's MHawke only but Merrill never initates any romance content for me til I hit a heart. Hell she has such a non reaction to the heart I always have to save and run to the manor to make sure I actually triggered the romance.

I did a male Hawke/Merrill romance too, and I ended up doing the exact same thing. That was the hardest romance to get going, and I had done the other three as FemHawkes prior to that point. Here soon I'll have to try it with a FemHawke Merrill romance instead, and see if there is any difference.
