I have killed the dryad and have a mithril ring.
I haven't met the druids though.
Do I have to keep Xzar in the party all the time now or can I drop him off until I have to go to Baldur's Gate?

I have read the walkthrough and I am supposed to take a ring and some ichor to sorcerous sundries.
I decided to let Xzar rejoin the party and we were duly ambushed by druids. Xzar got killed and I raised him.
Everything going according to the script so will now have to wait until I cann get to Sorcerous Sundries. I will post what I get when I do so.
Apparently another ring plus ichor from Schlumpp gets another item.
Both are supposedly only useable by Xzar, but I am hoping that my Xzar duplicate will also be able to use them. Time to wait and see as the walkthrough deliberately avoids spoilers..
I even called my character Xzar in case that is important.

Cool. Let me know. That would be a new twist. I'm headed into Durlag's Tower so I may well find one in there since I have Randomizer installed. I've sold two, maybe three since I started this run. CKT

I have at last done Xzar's quest. A few things that you need to know.
There is a bug and if you do not have Montaron in your party when you get Xzar's ring, you will have problems.
I would strongly advise you not to have Jaheira in your party. (Just advice, you don't have to follow it.)
When you kill the revenant I would wait for a while after picking up the ring.
I didn't and I think it was a mistake.
I haven't played the game to the end as my curiosity regarding Blackguard and Xzar was satisfied. Last potion from Schlumpsa is for use on Sarevok. Don't know whether it kills him or makes him immortal. Both are feasible.
The ring is X#ZRING if you want to look at its properties.
The vial of vial extract is X#ZSLIM.
