You don't even know that this is what they did.

Not saying they did, just that if I'm annoyed, it's because of any irrational downgrades that may be done to one platform to tone it down to the level of others. If the downgrade is simply "well we can't push out hi-res textures for PC on release date because of too much work" then I have no problem with that.

This might be a good Twitter question to bring up in the Twitter thread too, if you want a quicker developer response.

Cite the article Text equivalent of the steam emanating from a coiled turd on a cold morning and ask the all-important-question of "Are the screenshots and videos still representative of the final product visually on the highest (or lower) settings?"

Edited for Addiction21's delicate sensibilities.

Personally I think calling it a article is being generous.

Better?

Very much so and  I made a point to read it in Gathers voice.

Now I was not interested in Watchdogs at all and Ubisoft is no a PC friendly company. When I looked at what they cut back it is bs they did that but as a long time pc gamer of 30 years such things are not uncommon.

Before anyone bites my head of I am not talking about showing one thing and delivering something else.

What I am saying is that there being restrictions placed in code to how far a game can look have always been there. Be it resolutions or textures or whatever there have always been talented people that have dug into games code and explained how you can get around these bottlenecks.

Ramblings done sleepy time.

Not making an upgrade != a "downgrade".  And I've only heard of this actually being done ONCE . . . for Watchdogs, and the primary reason that was so bad was because they actually RELEASED the better version as advertisement for how awesome the game looked . . . then turned off the settings that made it possible.

So maybe you could find some other cause to be irritated about.  You know, something with actual precedents and factual support.  Flying off the handle at the merest suggestion of something is not very productive.

Really?  This is a thing now?  Didn't we already establish that there is quite a decent number of gaming "journalists" like to talk out of their rear end?  Like the OXM article in March?

How about we let the actual specs come out first?   Plus, as a PC user, some of the other "PC Mustard Race" users really need to get off of their high horses.   <_<

I just hope that BioWare hasn't lost the delusion that Dragon Age is somehow an appropriate video game franchise for console. This way, the graphics on PC won't be as bad as the idea of playing a slow-paced game (e.g. Dragon Age Origins) on a fast-paced video game platform such as the PS and Xbox.

If it's in 720px not 1080px (or whatever the pixel amounts are for video games), who cares? Why buy Blu-Ray, when DVD looks just as clear? It's almost the same, without the added expense of buying a new disc player and new versions of previously owned T.V. shows and movies.

As long as it's the same as PS4's and Xbox One's graphics, I really don't see the problem with a "downgrade" or whatever, for the PC.

If it is true, then I reckon BioWare is only doing it so that they can make it more accessible to prospective customers. I can't say I like that - toning the quality of something, down, just so the producers or whoever get more sales out if it - but if it's still very enjoyable, it's OK.

Even if the article is true, all that means is that the hi-res textures aren't ready, not that the aren't coming.

A hi-res texture pack is a fairly common occurence these days.  I'm not concerned.

And again, that assumes the article is more than just wild speculation.

If you think DVD looks just as clear, you might need corrective lenses.

Maybe he meant HD-DVD, cause dead formats are relevant.

Hey, I have a virtual HD-DVD drive on my PC.

I've used it once.

Wait, when did I say I considered not making an upgrade is a downgrade? Did you read my post at all? I said I have no problem with it if it's something like hi-res packs on being released on PC at launch. What most people are pissed about with Watchdogs was not about the disparity in quality between the E3 and post release versions. It was the crappy port and the mod that not only identified and unlocked the E3 settings, but also bettered the performance when activated.

Also Watchdogs isn't an isolated case. Apparently Ubisoft has been forcing it's other studios to do the same things with the Division and already promised the "console parity" for Far Cry 4. So you'll forgive me if I seem to be on alert regarding a senseless trend of locking down settings on PC be carried over to EA.

As a PC gamer: Only about .5% of me actually cares whether or not this clickbait is based in reality. I enjoy higher textures, but it's not something to whine about,

"Korean drama, movie and celebrity news"? Yup, that's where I go for gaming related info too!

That said, I absolutely have no problem with no special upgrades for the PC version of a game being made. If a dev does it anyway though I will take note and go out of my way to support them. Crap like Watch_Dogs just makes me vote with my wallet.

Explanations like "we were going for a filmic look" are hilarious though. Like falling down the stairs and then claiming it was intentional.

I hope you realise I didn't mean exactly the same, because I didn't. Obviously Blu-Ray is clearer, but the difference is so miniscule, there's no reason to waste money on buying a Blu-Ray player.

And I do have corrective lenses. Glasses and contacts.

how about just play the game?

i'm pretty sure the person saying they have to play in regular HD was being sarcastic lol hence the quote marks.

I'm a PC and a Console player, I played both DA's on the ps3 first and recently picked them up on pc becuase of sexy sales and interest in modding and of course the ability to increase graphical output. I can honestly say I can never play either DA games on the ps3 again after playing them on PC but I will still buy DAI for PS4, back on topic.

It's obvious that this is clickbait, nothing here seems credible, it reminds me of a couple of other jouranlist sites that literally divided one small bioware interview into 8 different articles updated in different days to attract more clickers. It just doens't seem realistic + hi res texture packs are a common thing now as someone said before. Take this with a grain of salt and don't flame until there is anything official. Then you have the right to flame if you aren't happy with the news.

Eh, if it works on my computer I probably wouldn't be able to play it on high graphics settings anyway.

Same.

Not that I pay all that much attention to graphics quality anyway.

I'd actually be happy if they made it more accessible to players who have lower end computers who'd like to play. I mean I can't even run the Witcher 2 on low settings without it being choppy. I know it's Frostbite 3 and all (DAI I mean), but still lol, DAO and DA2 weren't too graphically intensive.

I didn't realise that, because that's not what you said.

I refuse to by music from iTunes because they won't sell me lossless audio. Quality I might perceive is as important as quality I will.
