Being a long time lover and player of RPG's, I've seen my fair share of swords, armors and monsters and prior to Dragon Age: Origins, I thought I had seen all there was to see when it came to fashionable, yet incredibly protective armor wear. When I took my first look at the Massive Armor template in Origins for the first time, my jaw dropped and my breath had been taken away. It was the most spectacular thing I had ever seen.

The Armor set, and it's corresponding companions is what I had always imagined Knights looking like when marching off into battle and yet, no team of artists had managed to grasp the concept for their games. I eagerly awaited their return in Dragon Age 2, but was left wanting. I would love to see an Armor Set like this return in Dragon Age: Inquisition, if not as it's own tier of armor, than as a Specific armor all in it's own right, as sort of a nod to it's fabled predecessor.

What are your thoughts?

I always thought Massive Armor looked silly and somewhat foreign on any character in Origins even Sten and those helmets yuck

But to each his own, I'm glad armor is looking more flexible and less clunky in Inquisition

I think the Massive Armor might have gotten an overhaul in design

It is a tad more uniform isn't it? I'm pretty darn excited to lay my eyes on it myself in October, even if that Beefy Shoulder Pauldron from Origins was part of the magic for me, I'm curious to see how it will flow on different Character models!

Edit 1: I found this on the Dragon Age Wikia Website. It could be that we're getting the best of both worlds in inquisition.

Combat is also expected to differ somewhat from its predecessors and focus more on a player's ability to prepare, position and form a cohesive team with his or her party members, requiring fewer repetitive finger strikes but better thinking.  The armor customization will differ from both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II, in that each party member will have interchangeable armor pieces that will customize the look according to its specification and class.[9] They will also refrain from reusing environments, a common criticism of Dragon Age II.  Cinematic designer Jon Perry said that "one level in Dragon Age 3 is as big as all of the levels in Dragon Age 2."[

personally i like both of those designs, i love the model from origins, and if it isnt present, there will be a mod for it in no time im sure... once the modding is available of course

Absolutely! I'm sure people will be planning mod projects right from the games release, if not before then. There are some pretty crafty folks out there and a lot of them put in some really amazing work. I can only imagine the time and effort that goes into it!

I never really liked the "fridge with legs" look of the massive armor. Those loud SPACE MARINE PAULDRONS, the infuriating asymmetrical ****, the helmet that turns your head into a pair of eyeballs floating in a black void... I prefer the sleeker stuff, but I guess it would be cool to see a set of it as a homage.

I see what you mean, the eyes of the black abyss can be pretty frightening! But I think the whole asymmetrical look really brought it all together, I figured that if those giant pauldrons were symmetrical than the Character would have no way of turning their head, but if the lesser pauldron were Symmertrical, than it would take away from some of the glory. When I ran into Cailen for the very first time, all I could think of was how freaking cool I thought it looked! The only armor that ever really irked me was the Heavy Chainmail armor, It's one thing to be asymmetrical, but the Heavy Chainmail just seemed to have a lot of proportional issues.

Though things like leather and medium armors also looked pretty darn neat. I think I was just taken back by the massive armors because I had never seen anything like it before.

But I agree with you! Seeing even just one armor set in their as sort of a tribute would be pretty fantastic.

tbh i like the new design, it is sleaker and looks like it fits better, but i would like to see alistair still in his in the game at least, and i want this style of armour to be present in the game, since to me, massive armor is the best armor to have on a warrior... come on bioware... make it happen :P

I just recently watched the Post E3 video here when I saw the armor that Mike Laidlaw put on Ironbull (Something along the lines of Superior Beastmans Armor) I distinctly saw some of the greatest parts of the Massive Armor that I remember from Origins re-appear in Inquisition. Needless to say, it looks incredible! I'm very excited for October :)

My female mage swordspell or whatever it was called.  She wore that armor then faded so it was all glowie like a ghost affect, and trailed. It looked awesome. I do like the champion armor and the Warden armors in DA2 myself.

The Spirit Warrior Specialization had a similar effect with "Into The Fade" activated. I agree, it's a pretty rad transformation! I liked the Champions Armor in DA2, but always thought I was going to poke someones eye out. :P

When talking about Massive Armour, there's only one guy who's got it.
