Just because a character (which you don't know enough about) doesn't seem to whet your whistle... you are saying that the romances won't be as good because the character you know of don't have a personality you find attractive. Shallow.

I spent an ENTIRE game with Cassandra. DA2. I recommend playing it.

Vivienne is materialistic, and only cares about political power and her station. I dont like those characteristics.

I really really find it amusing that it is now shallow for me to not like someones personality.

I don't have any more patience for those people, furthermore, this falls under redundant topic and should be locked.

Then call them something else. Don't make blanket statements.

Seriously? How common is it for a BioWare character to be simple and one-dimensional? Not common at all.

Uh...Sure.

She was in the game for like five minutes at the most.

I appreciate the Input and again I never meant to offend anyone. I was just a little curious as to the opinions of my peers. I weigh romance in high regard in a bioware game so I want to be pleased. If I am wrong thank you for putting me in my place.

TBH, a lot of the reactions are probably due to this topic coming up again and again and again, thank you for not reacting badly to some of the responses. It's not unreasonable to want to have options, only to write your options off before getting all the information.

He's a straight man (or want to play as one) and is whinning, so what should I call him ? "happy gay woman praising Bioware" ?

Personally, I find all of the so-called Romance being discussed somewhat ridiculous. A great deal of the conversation is skipping the ideals of Romance, and simply bantering in the locker room about crude talks of sex. Nothing romantic about it, and seemingly something that could not be solved with a long cold shower.

Opinions can't be wrong - everyone has one (or several), and none are exactly the same. We're just an opinionated bunch.  :P

How did you spend an entire game with Cassandra in DA2?  I barely saw her at all.

In DA2, Cassandra only shows up in the narration, which is like, what, once or twice every beginning and end of an Act. A few little scenes like that does not FULLY reflect on her character.

Stop being delusional and think you know all about Cassandra's character when in reality you don't.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

How about just "Thread Whine #___"? Your comment seemed petty, much like this thread.

If we're sticking to the cake metaphor, I think it's more like paying for a surprise cake, and then being a little annoyed that your gamble didn't pay off.

But you'll probably still put your penis in the cake anyway, because why not?

Just so you know, I am NEVER throwing you a birthday party.

Well yeah, but no one wants to stick their penis in an ice cream cake, even if it was a surprise.

There has not yet been invented a cake that *someone* won't want to stick their penis in. You could make a razerwire and fireant cake and someone would run up and say, "I have been waiting all my life for this moment," before unzipping their fly.

I have been correct about literally every character i have done this with.

Whether or not you choose to believe me is irrelevant.

I can usually predict how much I will like a character as soon as i get some details from Bioware.

Yup my comment IS petty, this thread has no excuse for existing since other threads saying THE EXACT DAMN THING already clog up the DAI forum.

I'm pretty happy. I will romance Cullen, Cass and Dorian for sure. If Solas is romance I will romance him too. I guess it's easier for me though, since I tend to play character with different genders and sexualities. I'm just worried of race gating at the moment.

I wouldn't lose all hope for straight males though. There should be at least 2 option for them. Cass seems to be other but Vivi or Scribbles is going to be other :)

Please do not do that.

I don't think that's fair.

Or at least, I see it the same as "gay man whine" or "lesbian whine". Neither cool things to say either.

I think when it comes down to it, people who might whine about things are all in the same boat.. they feel limited.

Nothing people can do about it now though.

'Plays violin'

oh look, more whining from some straight, gay, lesbian, and bi people.

Really, if there is any group who deserves to whine it is the a-sexuals, we get nothing, so you can all stop your whinging and be grateful you get at least 1 companion of your orientation.

Based on the information we've got, people claim that they love these characters and want to do all sorts of naughty things to them, so surely someone can decide that they dislike a character based off that same information?

That's a fair point. I think it'd be best if these kinds of threads are not put in such terms, which is why people get tired and frustrated at that fact. I mean, every single companion has their flaws and I remember people complaining about similar things before the release of Origins and 2. It's exactly the same. Then no one complained after release because the romances were awesome despite appearance or personality (outline of personality) gripes.

Yes, the companion threads where people swoon and sigh over the sexy men and women can be seen as the same shallowness... but I disagree with that. They are more open to the possibilities rather than outright rejecting them, which is why I see them as different mindsets. Close-mindedness instead of open-mindedness. People see a character, go, "oh, they seem cool" and if they aren't interested, say why and go about their merry way.

Anyway, the OP has it's all sorted out. Our work here is done.
