The scene where Leliana sings to the warden in DAO could have been a great moment, but a few things ruined it for me. First and foremost, I wished they had used a raw recording of the singer's voice. All the effects, the over-dubbed voices and the instrumentation ruined it for me. Secondly the animation and lip syncing could have been much better. 

 

When I watched the scene for the first time it didn't feel like Leliana was singing the song. It felt like she was doing a very poor job of lip syncing to a boom box she had hidden in the bushes.

Hahah OP made me laugh, but I ceetainly agree. It probably came down to resources or whatever but I'm sure in this latest installment if they do include her singing in some way it'll be a raw recording of the singer, or even the VA herself is possible, that'd be awesome :3 I personally enjoyed the singing aspect of Leliana and wished it was more fleshed out in the first game. I always thought it was funny that whenever she "sang" a bard song it was her grunting and shouting out a purely unattractive battle cry, makes me laugh to no end.

 

However it's been said that Leliana is not the whimsical bard we once knew, ten years can do that to a person, so maybe if she sang it'll be even more somber, depressing and melancholic

huh, Yes, few flaws as far as lip movement with the music. I honestly didnt care, I loved it. I will like it again, and still do.   If she sings again, which I doubt she will, I would love it.

But I do want her to accompany the party with a lute at all times. Just have her slide into the camera and pluck a few strings for tension before sliding out again.

One of the most cringeworthy awkward moments I've ever experienced in a video game.  I skip that cut scene every time.  One thing I did like about the cut scene though was Sten shaking his head at the whole thing.  I was like "yes, I'm right there with you buddy!"

I admit the scene wasn't the most technically impressive or the most well played out in the game by any means, but the song itself was absolutely beautiful. That was enough for me. It captures Leliana's bard side appropriately.

Since I want to hear all the party banter I will always travel on foot so Leliana's job will be to follow the party and click two coconut shells together.

It's a nice song, but I wish they had used a raw recording of it. A raw recording with no vocal overdubs or instrumentation.

No I'm not exaggerating.  Along with romance scenes, the song cut scene was cringeworthy the way it was portrayed.  Leliana just stood there twirling her fingers and mermaided your warden from like 2 feet away while your Warden just watches her slowly trot around the camp.  It was really effing weird.  I'm not talking about the quality of the song even though i typically don't go for or praise ballads like that; I'd imagine many people would find the song itself lovely.

I have to agree. It's just her singing. For a long time. And you watching. For a long time.

I'd be down with bard songs, ala Skyrim (our hero, our hero, the Inquisitor comes...), but I'd pass on Leliana singing again.

I loved the song itself but it was obvious in many ways that it wasn't Leliana singing it. I think if they want to have a character sing in DA:I they should hire a VA that can actually sing and then have it a cappella (unless the cutscene involves instruments).

Leliana might not be in the mood to sing this time around, but it would be neat to catch her humming to herself when the Inquisitor came to her for advice. She seems like the sort who would daydream, even after all the s**t she's been through.

I find that scene amazing and touching. Seeing the whole camp captivated by her voice, even Sten felt some feelings! I hope she does again!

Mm, I loved the song, but I agree.  The execution was a bit off.  Like someone else said I'd love a Skyrim-esque bit from Leliana.  As long as they use Aubrey Ashburn, that is.
