I am an avid supporter for the Orlesian Inquisitor, especially after rereading the Three Musketeers. I plan on modelling after their nemesis Cardinal Richelieu. I can imagine it now.
'His Eminence, the Lord Inquisitor, Richelieu Trevelyan.' If not I will be content with my Dalish Mage Inquisitor.

We get N. American or English voice sets. So no Orlesians.

Our Dalish Inquisitor also has a N. American or English voice set.

So I wouldn't take the lack of an Orlesian accent as an indication of anything.

No Orlesian protagonists for me please. After Stolen Throne I hate everything that has to do with the Orlesian Empire (with exception of a character or two). If I had the choice in DA:O I'd join Loghain and allow him to remain as Regent. That's how much I hate this fictional culture. You know why they where masks? Because they're self-conscious of their own wickedness. They hide their faces from themselves out of shame.

You... really shouldn't feel that strongly about a fictional culture. I'd hate to hear what you think about the Tevinter Imperium in that case.

You should just praise the writers for being able to make you feel that strongly about something that doesn't exist!

The best kind of writing is the writing that makes people feel very strong emotions.

Totally. Although in this case, I find the very strong emotions to be an irrational response rather than the product of good writing bbbut... who knows?

I love everything about Orlais... from a writting point of view. And I do hope that I can play an Orlesian inquisitor, I'd LOVE that.

I'm a fan of Tevinter actually. And Ferelden. And the Qunari. And the Rivaini. Orlais is probably the only group that pushes me into making 'meta-gamey' decisions.

Can you say why? I mean, I love all of the nations in their own little way but what about Orlais makes you hate it more than say, the Tevinter Imperium with its dedication to blood magic and slavery, or the Qunari with its single-minded servitude to a terrifying philosophy?

clearly the x accent fits with y culture thing's already been chucked out the window if they're letting a human inquisitor have an american accent, so unless the origin story says otherwise I suppose you could just say your inquisitor's orlesian if you want. plus trevelyan is a brythonic surname, so you could just say your inquisitor's from the Thedas equivalent of brittany.

Very true, we don't want it to become an irrational hatred, that's investing too much in a work of fiction that is over all meant for entertainment. I always tend to love the things that inspire hatred in me, for example Joffrey from asoif, hate hate hate him, but I love his character because he inspires such an emotion in me and tend to deem those characters that do that as my favorites.

Do I sound messed up?

Whoop whoop! :D when it comes to my protagonist I really don't mind what culture they are from because they will be molded into what I want them to be. Where they are from would have no affect on the choices I make for them, though I suppose you'd be treated differently depending on where your protagonist is from, just like different races/classes will get treated differently in some situations

If we can't have an orlesian, I hope we can have something else than Ferelden at least :/

I thought Joffery was underdeveloped in the novel. I was glad he died because I found his characterization so poor.

But yes, he's clearly there for you to hate.

True, that was a very basic example. I think it would have been better to use Cersei. I really don't like her.... At all. She pisses me off and puts me in a foul mood but she is one of my favorite characters.

The thing I like most about the Qunari is the Qun. Sten drops a couple of gems in form of parables in DA:O that are hard to argue with. I'm pretty sure the way Tevinter's been depicted thus far is 3/5's propaganda. Slavery and blood magic are a thing in Tevinter, but it's probably no where near as described in southern Thedas. The Chantry censors any and everything that comes out of the Imperium.

From the way Fenris described it as well as what I got from Dorian's Q&A, I think it is that bad in Tevinter. And that's coming from two characters at the opposite ends of the spectrum. But that's what makes it so freaking interesting in my opinion. Same as Orlais in its own respect.
