This message reminds me of a joke where some driver pulls up next to someone on the road (with hood up) and says  "having engine problems?"   It is also on par with both IBM and Microsoft [Imbecile] message manuals that tell you "an error has occurred".  REALLY?  NO KIDDING?   How about giving us a SOLUTION?  Useful, like "JPG" format not allowed; only use BMP"  or “see URL for more doc”.

I've spent some hours researching others' problem with dropping an image into this text area.   Interesting how I can do this with NO problem:

·         Go to Google images, copy & paste (no problem)

·         Paste URL, and just about any text (no problem)

...but when it comes to other screenshots I get this message.  Aside from the Origin forums, it seems to be global with other forums also.   Perhaps they use the same packaged forum software.  They suggest:

  • Clicking the little toggle switch in the upper left corner (for folks that can't paste anything).
  • Others suggest switching browsers.

So I've used Microsoft Internet Explorer (latest),  Google Chrome (latest), and Firefox (latest).  I'm on W7.   I've fiddled with various "security" settings in each with no avail.

Yes, even rebooted in Mac (using Safari) so I’m convinced it is NOT a browser problem but a website parameter requirement.  Apparently this [useless] message implies only specific file extensions are allowed.

Thinking it doesn't like a [re-sized] SCREENSHOT, I have a photo editor (Photoshop) so I saved the screenshot (photo) in various extensions, then tried to copy-paste

BMP

GIF

JPG

PNG

PSD

TIF

Doesn't accept any of them. (same message).

If there is some official documentation on this, I'd appreciate the URL.

Thanks for your time & thoughts.

I haven't tried using the "my media" feature that was added to BSN so I don't know if there are any weird issues with that but the usual BBC code still works fine for me with externally hosted images.

If you are unfamiliar with that, here is how it works.

Lets say I want to post the following image that came from one of the multiplayer challenges the community put together:

http://i1287.photobu...zps1157d108.gif

To embedded it you use the following BBC code (asterisks must be removed):

[*img*]http://i1287.photobu...08.gif[*/img*l]

With asterisks removed:

ScionSyncSave2_zps1157d108.gif

Edit: It looks like the forum redesign added some auto code generation junk so things have changed slightly. It now replaces the BBC code automatically with something different (posting the format without an actual path to a hosted image gives the image extension error) and likes to automatically create unremovable hyperlinks. If you quote this post and toggle the switch to change to plain text view in the reply field you can see what code gets used in an image embed.
