(Disclaimer: I've only played Silver for approximately four months, and Gold for two months so my experience is still rather... limited in terms of flexible playstyle.)

Also, what was the character you originally disliked but now are fairly comfortable with?

Likewise, what character did you think you were getting good with but later discovered it doesn't fit your playstyle or that it wasn't the bee's knees you thought it would be (for you)?

The first non-vanilla character I unlocked was the N7 Shadow Infiltrator. I thought she was funky as hell with Tactical Cloak, ability to sweep shields and barriers with Electric Slash and sneak it to cut the throats of Banshees everywhere with Shadow Strike.

... unfortunately, I can't use her on Gold anymore. It doesn't seem to fit me these days. I can never pinpoint the enemy I actually want to strike (well, even when I can, my teammates end up zipping over to the allies even before her animation is done...), Electric Slash doesn't chip away at health fast enough and the melee attack puts me at constant risk of being sync-killed. It's too bad, because I miss using her. I mostly do it during PUG Silvers just to see how fast I can rack up points against a bunch of tank DPS players xD

When I was still figuring out which Biotic characters fit me, I finally came across the Asari Justicar. I could not figure her out and it disappointed me because none of the other Biotics seemed to mesh with my style. The Biotic Sphere was confusing, I couldn't make sense of Reave and Pull just seemed like a waste of a Primer. I had my friend set up a private lobby on Silver and I just sat there for six waves hitting Reave/Pull/Biotic Sphere over and over again until it clicked.

I love playing as the Justicar on Gold. I prime everything, save teammates by using Pull and it is glorious.

(On the other hand, I tried using the original Asari Drell and thought if I played her on Gold like I do my Justicar, I'd be golden. Boy was I wrong. I can't get the hang of Stasis.)

I also tried about the N7 Huntress Infiltrator, hoping she would be my biotic character. Unfortunately, she hasn't been and that was a disappointment as she seems like a really cool character to use, but maybe that's fortunate because every time I step foot into a Biotic team everyone and their mother already has Warp so it becomes a snooze-fest at tapping Dark Channel just for everyone to detonate using Warp. How boring.

My main characters are the Asari Justicar, the N7 Paladin, Volus Vanguard (if necessary), and vanilla Human Adept.

My first non Vanilla kit that I got comfortable with.. probably the Vorcha Soldier.

Character I disliked but got good with.. Drell Vanguard.

Character I thought I was good with but ultimately changed my mind to think they're not all that.. Quarian Female Engineer.

First non-vanilla: Turian Soldier

Used to dislike but am now comfortable with: Collector Adept, I guess

Can't think of any that fit the category... mostly because I don't even play classes that I think I'd dislike. I have to like what a class is doing to like it.

First non-vanilla: Turian Soldier

I thought that counted as a vanilla character bc it was there at launch. If so then.. I'd change my first answer to Salarian Engineer bc FBW/G/G..

First was the BatSol, and he's still my favourite.

Hold up, I'm sure I just read Asari Drell, where the f@ck did you find that beauty?

"Vanilla" is generally used to refer to the 12 (6 x 2 genders) basic human kits, but I think everyone gets a kit unlock in the starter pack. Did you mean DLC kit or something...?

I got FQE from my demo starter pack. One of my favourite kits ever since.

I really can't remember which one was my first DLC kit though. GE is my favourite from the Resurgence Pack. It could've been the first.

I never disliked turians, but for a very long time I wasn't able to play them effectively, as I always depended heavily on mobility and dodging. Turian sentinel (and soldier, to a lesser extent) is among my favourite kits these days.

No idea, whenever I read "vanilla" I automatically connect that with vanilla human classes. If that's not the case, then the answer is probably GI.

First ever non-vanilla I unlocked was the salarian engineer from the starter pack, and got pretty comfortable with it, for better or worse, because it was during the heyday of white geth gold farming for easy credits, like mega said.

Disliked at first but got good with: asari vanguard. Completely hooked on it now.

No idea about the last one

The vanilla humans are the best characters, though

Sorry, I thought the Asari Drell was the one with Stasis, Warp and Throw. Or is that just the Drell Adept?

(Everyone keeps mentioning an "original" Asari and that it has Stasis so I've been assuming that was the character they were referring to. Damnit, I can't boot up the game until later tonight so I can't check which character I'm trying to think of. Oh lord now my secret is out, you can probably all tell I didn't play the campaign x_x)

ETA: It can't be the Drell Adept because this is the gameplay video I looked up for quick reference and this Drell has Cluster Grenades on the Right Bumper... is there more than just two Drell?

The Drell I'm thinking of has Throw mapped to the Right Bumper.

ETA: Yep, I stand corrected. Thanks Sket XD Just Youtubed the Asari Adept. Stasis, Warp and Throw XD

Asari and Drell are types of aliens, so you're talking bout the Asari adept...

Human Sentinel, 'cause I played a Sentinel in Single Player.

For non-vanilla: umm... I think it was the Asari Justicar.

You can post now Iggy?

That's great! ^_^

On topic, I think it was a TSol, if memory serves.

He didn't really impress me at the time, since this was pre-buff, but he was OK.

He might have impressed me more if I hadn't been using him with a vindicator! :pinched:

Novaguard!

I found it.

I kind of liked Novaguard but I don't find it to be all that it's cracked up to be anymore.

Strike that, the first non-vanilla character I used was the Drellguard. It didn't go very well.

Kits that I was bad with, then later learned to like? Drellguard, GI, Asari Adept, Justicar.

Seconding the Novaguard for kits that don't fit my playstyle. Loved it when I first started, but now I can think of at least 10 kit's I'd rather use.

I remember that I wasn't a fan of the Tsol and Tsent at the beginning. I guess that their amazing passives aren't so impressive when your best weapon is an Avenger.

It just needs a team of primers.. then it's glorious. But yeah.. without a bunch of primers backing him up.. he's basically a much better Juggernaut.. tanking, staggering, detonating and doing average damage on his own. Taking down an Atlas solo with a Novaguard is pretty time consuming.

First non-vanilla character: Drell adept

Originally disliked, but fairly comfortable now: Phoenix Adept

(Used to dislike the character but now I love this character. I also like to think that I play that character fairly proficiently)

Character that I was getting good with but discovered it didn't fit my play style: Destroyer (weapon platform)

(No other character screamed 'I am boring' as much as the destroyer. I used him to try out a few weapons but the more I played, the more I found out that it wasn't my playstyle)

My first non vanilla kit was the Asari Valkyrie, my first unlockable however was the Talon Merc which is ironic because I didn't like engineers at the time so I totally skipped using engineers and infiltrators in the beginning of my me3 career.

Now with my new manifest I can't seem to get the Talon Merc. :/
