...which looks like this:

Is this a screenshot from the PS1? Or is this a temp mesh?

I really hope it's the latter.

Usually site screens and demos look even better that real in-game renders.

They often do, don't they.

We could show nothing at all (that leads people to draw conclusions)

We could show the game as it is (that leads people to draw conclusions)

We could touch things up and make sure they're extra nice for marketing purposes (that also leads people to draw conclusions).

Which would people prefer we do?

Yeah, as the overall polygon counts increase, so can the quality. And don't get me wrong, the mesh of that shoulder piece is pretty rough (the texture with all straight lines probably makes it look worse, since the edges become more obvious) I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually lower level of detail model, intended for standard game views (where the characters are like, 10m or more away from the camera) than for the kind of close ups they used here.

I guess we'll find out in just 3 months now ;)

If I wasn't damned busy I'd take a peek to see if they were using a different LOD setting for some reason for that particular piece of armor.

Though perhaps appropriately, I'm currently working on an app that will expedite QA testing of all of the armor meshes (because doing it manually with a keyboard would take way too long) so once I'm done that, in theory it'd be faster to do this! XD
