Just found this post on valves forum:
There's a new Steam Beta client available. To access the Beta, go to File -> Settings. On the Account tab press the Change... button to open the Beta Participation dialog. Then Select Steam Client Beta, and allow Steam to restart itself. Here are the specific changes:
- Fixed issue preventing preloading for Mass Effect 2
This pretty much confirm preload, but not the date.

Valve then goes on to say: This will hopefully be a quick beta. Unless any new bugs turn up, we'll release the new client and then turn on preloading for Mass Effect 2 to North America users. Users elsewhere will get to preload 48-hours before the official release of the game.

I believe it was suppose to be preloaded yesterday but as stated there was an issue that prevented ME2 from preloading yesterday which has now been fixed.

Must be fake. No Valve employee have ever worked in a weekend. Joking of course, it just seems that no matter how big something is, they go complete silent in the weekends. Which of course is okay, but one would just assume that on certain deadlines they would put some extra hours in it. But now I think of it, that's actually good, as many other companies disregard the personal time of their employees. Disregard this.
