This recent playthrough wasn't my canon Warden as in the one I imported into DA2, but it did involve decisions never made before. For one it's the first time I didn't play a mage. He was a human noble named Jaime Cousland who looked and fought like the character Jaime Lannister of A Song of Ice and Fire. He wore Cailan's golden armor and fought with sword and shield; born in nobility who would eventually rise to be king. Oh, and he hated the Grey Wardens. The way Duncan forces the rite of conscription on the human noble who just lost their family is a huge douchebag move. Considering the warden death sentence, it's close to regicide. Jaime was care-free, flirtatious, amoral, had a low cunning, was an opportunist, relished violence, and was a bit psychopathic.

1. Connor was killed.

2. Stopped short of killing Wynne on their first encounter but put her down and wiped the Circle at Cullen's insistence.

3. Abandoned Redcliffe; leading to some of the funniest scenes in the game. After leaving Redcliffe following a mild killing spree among other things Alistair confronted Jaime at camp about shaming the wardens because of his (-100 disapproval).

4. Helped the werewolves kill the elves and gained a werewolf army.

5. Bhelen

6. Preserved the Anvil.

7. Defiled the ashes. They're just pottery, right?

8. Loghain was spared to gain Anora's favor.

9, Anora became queen with Jaime as king. Alistair was executed.

10. He romanced anyone he could. He slept with Iona in the origin; then Morrigan, Zevran, and Leliana. He juggled those 3 for a time and even had a foursome with Isabela, Zevran, and Leliana until Leliana confronted him about Zevran and Morrigan. She was fooled once but later forced him to choose. Jaime chose Morrigan but later slept with the dalish elf Ghenna ...before killing her.

11. Sex tonight and not dying by the archdemon tomorrow? Jaime couldn't pass up Morrigan's ritual. He didn't think long-term about the consequences nor cared  for warden integrity.

These are the decisions my canon Amell warden made, but I have other playthroughs that aren't as sunny. In fact, I plan on doing a playthrough of DA:O and DA2 where I make the most terrible decisions possible that leave Thedas in the bleakest state.

Canon Amell

1. Connor was saved by procuring the help of the Circle mages.

2. Mages

3. No. Redcliffe was saved.

4. Broke the werewolf curse.

5. Harrowmont

6. Anvil was destroyed.

7. Preserved the Ashes.

8. Loghain executed.

9. Alistair became king.

10. Alistair

11. Yes. Persuaded Alistair to do the DR.

My (canon #1) Dwarf Commoner, Sangiban Brosca:

1) Saved Connor, with Isolde's death (When an option for her to die appeared on screen I hit that button so fast)

2) Sided with the mages since annuling the Circle doesn't make sense when we have mages alive & innocent. Killing them all seems wasteful.

3) I helped Redcliffe

4) I broke the curse

5) I put Bhelen on the throne. Though he's a bit of a tyrant, he ultimately moves Orzammar forward. And he's kind of your brother-in-law as the DC, so there really is no reason to turn against him.

6) The anvil was saved. Considering how my Brosca lives in the nice parts of Orzammar, securing the creation of golems to defend his home is pretty important.

7) Sacred Ashes were saved

8) Loghain was killed

9) Alistair (hardened) rules alone

10) I went with the Leliana romance

11) Morrigan's offer was accepted

DLC choices:

1) Cailan was burned

2) Morrigan was let go

3) Amaranthine was saved

4) The Architect was spared (no way I'm letting that plot thread die there, it's too fascinating)

I really struggle with the whole "canon playthrough" thing. I did every option at least once for the achievements, but my story decisions tend to be pretty consistent through most games:

Origins:

  •     Connor saved with the help of the Circle.
  •     Sided with the mages cos Templars are crap in the final battle.
  •     Saved Redcliffe cos I didn't know you couldn't (going to have to try that one...)
  •     Ended the werewolf curse because Zathrian is a jerk.
  •     Made Bhelen king despite him being a nasty little git.
  •     Destroyed the Anvil because Branka is a whackjob.
  •     Saved the ashes because because Kolgrim is a whackjob.
  •     Killed the High Dragon because loot.
  •     Killed the hell out of Loghain because screw that guy.
  •     Mostly romanced Alistair if female or Morrigan if male.
  •     I waxed and waned about what to do about the Crown, so I tended to go different ways with different wardens. Generally I made Alistair King solo, but sometimes I married him to Anora, FHN obviously became Queen.
  •     Did the Dark Ritual

DLC:

  •     Burned Cailan's remains
  •     Killed Sophia Dryden
  •     Told Avernus to behave himself
  •     Let Morrigan go

Awakening:

  •     Recruited Everyone
  •     Saved Amaranthine
  •     Went 50/50 on the Architect

This then, is the whackjob justification? I like your reasoning :D

I have a low tolerance for crazy people with power. I always take Meredith down for the same reason. Meredith = whackjob. Anders, also a whackjob. Dragon Age:  filled with whackjobs.

Oh, we're including DLC and DA:A now? Well then, ...

-- Agreed to Sophia's deal, then betrayed her.

-- Allowed Avernus to have fun.

-- Fed Cailan to the wolves.

-- Followed Morrigan through the Eluvian.

-- Conscripted everyone.

-- Purged the Darkspawn with flame while they were all conveniently concentrated in one place... a place called "Amaranthine."

-- Spared the Architect. Killed Sigrun and "Justice"-nonsense in the ensuing scene. Later replayed to avoid this and talk them down, but decided I liked the drama added to the story with the Warden being forced to fight/slay his own companions (one of whom he adored) over this decision.

Ready for DA:I!

  • Allowed Avernus to live, but commanded he pursue only ethical research
  • Gave Cailan's body a funeral pyre

Decided I would take my recent ruthless Dwarf Noble, Revik Aeducan through DA:2 and onward to DA:I.

1) Connor killed - took no pride in this, but having experienced the Fade for the first time in the Circle Tower, could not warrant the risk of sending a necessary companion back into it.

2) Sided with Templars - did not support Annulment, but suggested the Tower be further investigated.

3) Saved Redcliffe - cared little for the lives in a human settlement, but could could not turn away from the glory of battle.

4) Sided with Werewolves in killing the Dalish - Neither side seemed incredibly willing to help unless their backs were scratched first, regardless of existing treaties. At least the wolves seemed to possess some warrior spirit.

5) Harrowmont - Revik believed his brother to the better king in spite of their past, but worried for the safety of his child should he be left alive, let alone in charge.

6) Saved the Anvil - Army of giant steel men? 'nuff said.

7) Sacred Ashes defiled - The Ancestors would not frown at pissing on the ancient remains of a woman that serves as justification for human oppression.

8) Loghain spared - A savvy military leader (that could later be thrown at Archy)

9) Anora rules alone, Alistair spared and exiled. (ruthless, not heartless)

10) No romance - Nobody's got time for that.

11) Dark Ritual refused - Thanks but no thanks, witch..
