This is a thread in two parts: Up to PAGE 62, this was a thread discussing the possibility of an undiscussed multiplayer.
From this post onwards on PAGE 62 it became a discussion of the announced multiplayer.
When the forum opened a multiplayer sub-section the work of this
scuttlebutt section is done - it is being allowed to drift into obscurity.
The OP references are first to the announced features of the multiplayer:

MULTIPLAYER:
Official DAMP trailer:
IGN reveal:
Multiplayer FAQ: http://www.dragonage...multiplayer-faq
Overview
- DAMP (Dragon Age Multi-Player has 4-player co-op campaigns separate from the Single Player game.
- Campaigns are designed to take somewhere around 20-30 minutes to complete.
- The SP campaign is separate from MP. MP does not affect endings in SP.
Development and technical
- MP and SP were developed side by side.
- It has been in development for over two years by a special team with veterans from DA and ME.
- The MP installation is part of the game file. It is not a separate install.
- No cross-platform play
- ** Server information as yet tbc. **
- ** Is there mic support? **
Loot and economy
- There are micro transactions to get stuff faster but you can buy anything with normal dungeon-crawling.
- You purchase a currency called Platinum with real money if you don't want to or don't have the time to grind through dungeons for gold to purchase chests
- When you pick up Gold, it's picked up for everyone in the party so that everyone reaps the rewards (to be verified)
- No DAMP content is behind a pay wall.
- There is no connection between SP items and MP items on purpose. The two economies are separate.
- No ability to trade/auction house.
Achievements and rewards
- No exclusive MP achievements. Achievements are one way to keep players engaged, but with Dragon Age multiplayer, we have other ways to improve
- Full challenge system implemented at launch, to pursue and track challenges.
- Weekly operations for a reward. Operations work globally, with the entire Inquisition player-base working toward a communal goal, such as slaying 1 million demons by a deadline.
Combat mechanics
- There will be no pausing time or paused tactical view like in single player, players will have to deal with threats and use abilities in real time.
- You can pitch your view (in real time) to view above the battlefield.
Characters
- You play as an Agent of the Inquisition, the missions structured to be like the tasks that the Inquisitor sends his or her Agents on. At the beginning of a mission, you will be briefed by one of the Inquisitor's advisors: Cullen, Josephine, or Leliana.
- Crafting is a key element of MP progression.
- 130 weapons customisations
- 80 armour customisations
- In MP you salvage gold coins and items (not potions). Gold coins buy chests. (weapons, weapon mods, potions, runes, armor, etc.).
- Unlock new characters by crafting their armor.
- Characters are defined, i.e. you don't make up your own.
- Twelve characters at launch, four for each class (warrior, rogue, and mage). Each will have their own personality and banter with other party members, likely similar to how companions interact in SP
- Two character classes we know the name of: Legionnaire and Reaver, both warriors, Legionnaire is a dwarf male that uses sword/shield with a more defensive playstyle, Reaver is a female (race unknown) that uses two-handed swords to deal massive damage
- The level cap for Dragon Age multiplayer is 20. Then you can promote them, which resets the class and apparently grants an additional attribute bonus.
- More new characters and maps after launch as DLC, all of which will be free
- No mounts.
- Characters banter between themselves.
- ** Can you have multiples of the same class playing? tbc **
Specific characters:
- Reaver
- Necomancer
- Alchemist
- Keeper
- Elementalist
- Archer
- Assassin
- Katari
- Legionaire
- 3 unspecified, may include Arcane Warrior
Foes
- Demons,
- Venatori,
- Red Templars
Campaign design
- There will be areas and items only reachable by having a Rogue, Mage, or Warrior. Example given was a type of wall that only a Warrior could knock down
- There will be campaign components 'Locate the target enemy', 'Defend the inquisition informant'.
- You can kill streak
- 5 zones to progress through which mix up (each map has 10 zones, 5 of which are randomly pieced together to add variety to each mission)
- There are 3 campaign maps
- The map previewed is called Elven Ruins
- There will be a map set in the Tevinter Imperium and a map set in an Orlesian Palace
- ** You may be able to solo, but it's harder! Depends on particular class skills to access areas? tbc **
Matchmaking
- Can invite friends
- Can quick match (randoms presumably)
Online apps
- 'Inquisition HQ', likely a similar, but largely expanded counterpart to Mass Effect 3's N7 HQ, gives access to all of your MP characters and their inventory, on PCs, tablets, and smartphones.
Thanks to Tarkov33 for a pile of extra stuff in there.

Hot answers:
Will playing MP be required to get the full-game experience?·
No. The SP campaign is separate from MP.
Is MP going to affect my endings in SP?
No. Absolutely not. Our goal with Dragon Age multiplayer is not to affect your SP campaign.
Do I get to transfer items from SP to MP? Or vice versa?
There is no connection between SP items and MP items on purpose.
We wanted to make sure that the two economies are separate, which will allow a stronger progression in both SP and MP.

Why has it not been announced either way, not definitively anyway? No Sten-like 'no'.
I think it could be:
option -a- announcing something isn't in your game is not a strong marketing message. It's not there but let's not make it a big deal.
option -b- it's been or is being built and actually it's not great and it will either be fixed maybe, or abandoned.
option -c- it's a marketing thing and will be announced soon (BioWare cleverly twirls its marketing moustache)
option -d- so as not to disrupt the SP game it will be a massive DLC release in around February 2015 (more twirling)
I hope it's -c- or -d-... what's your choice?
