I don't care about MP. Just please don't tie it into the SP game like in ME3

"The absent multiplayer"

Good. Let's keep it that way. The online connectivity requirement set by EA is fulfilled by the Keep. Let's leave it at that and have an incredible singleplayer RPG.

The vibes I've got all along, is that they don't want MP to muck about too much with their design of the SP game, and they also absolutely don't want MP to muck about too much with how people perceive the game.

What this will mean for MP, I have no idea.

But some points to keep in mind. DA is not an action game like ME. That ought to influence the MP design. And, there will be some kind of MP. Beyond that, I'll take D.G.'s advice and not panic until the information is released.

option -c- it's a marketing thing and will be announced soon (BioWare cleverly twirls its marketing moustache)

I think it is probably option -c- and they are hoping to make a big impact on sales with a late MP reveal.

Yeah, the Twitter account has been pretty inartfully dodging questions about multiplayer.  Suggests there's going to be something.  I'm not terribly fussed about MP, but I'd be happy if it made DA more successful.  As long as it ties into SP cosmetically only.  No gameplay and definitely no story changes.  It seems every game now is trying to cram in some way of forcing you to have 3 other idiots to ruin your experience.

If they do include multiplayer and it is anything like ME3 MP, then what is not to love. It was hardly required in the Me3 SP game. A similar model would be welcome by many players, internationally.

I hope there's a good (and separate/optionally integrated) MP experience, myself. Loved doing MP in both Baldur's Gate and ME3, two very different kinds of MP. So I have faith that it can be done, and that it can be done without copying either previous method - even though I honestly would be fine with either copy.

The idea that the Fade tear could lead to some Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma-like kind of experience is very interesting to me. But I'd also love to just assume direct control of a friend's Cassandra and sit back enjoying their dialogues as pure cutscenes. Or perhaps there could be flashpoints? There's so many possibilities =)

Of course, if the game ends up not having MP, I won't be cancelling my preorder or anything. But I prefer its existence over its absence. So for me, I'm hoping for option C.

I agree with the similar posts in this thread, that BioWare's lack of a direct answer about the inclusion of MP makes me think that there is something going on that the devs are keeping under wraps. Personally, I would love the presence of a co-operative MP mode, and I know that at least two of my friends will buy the game day one because of MP; rather than wait until I finish the campaign and then borrow my copy.

The three biggest things I would like to see out of a (co-op) MP mode would be:

  • Increased character customization, in terms of facial appearance, along with mix/matching armor (with varying stats), as well as talent and specialization choices. In essence, I would like to see a team of four warriors (for example) to have four different characters; maybe one is a Human Templar specced Sword and Board warrior, and another is a Dwarven two handed Reaver warrior. One could be a tank, an other a DPS, and still another could focus on supportive abilities, like shouts and buffs/de-buffs.

  • The option to play as the various fantasy creatures of the setting, like Golems, Giants/Trolls, Sylvans, Werewolves, Awakened, Mabari, Wyverns, etc. complete with their own form of limited customization (compared to the Humans/Dwarves/Elves/Quanari anyway) in terms of appearance, armor/inventory, and abilities. I like the 'alien' elements of fictional settings; being able to play as a tree ent in SP is (most likely) never going to happen, so I would like to experience the world through a Sylvan's eyes in MP.

  • An ability to 'promote' one's characters to their SP game, and have them actually show up as an agent of the Inquisition. Not in the sense that MP will give people additional agents, thereby giving an advantage to MP players, and not in the sense that a 'promoted' character is placed in a pool that all the SP saves draw from. Assuming that the agents are not a meaningless number or a form of 'not-gold' currency used to buy things, but are an actual NPC that the Inquisitor can see and visit, when they are deployed in the field, then I would like to see the imported MP character essentially "model swap" with one of the vanilla agents. No extra abilities or powers, just an optional form of customization for the game world; seeing my female Dwarf rogue in my male Qunari Mage's SP story will help lend an extra degree of personalization to the game, as well as add a 'face' to my agents. If this is a character that I made and worked at bringing into the game, I would think twice about sending her off on a dangerous mission where she could die. A list of one's SP saves would be available for selection when bringing your MP character into your SP game, allowing players to have more control over their level of SP/MP integration; you can have a SP save with no imported characters, one with one or two unique agents, and one with every vanilla agent replaced with your MP creations, above all, the choice would be in the players' hands.

I honestly wouldn't mind some sort of "Invasion" mechanic.  Sort of like Dark Souls or Watch Dogs (Neither of which I have played, so bear with me) the invading Inquisitor appears as a spirit that's crossed over from the Fade and attacks the player, with potential loot and/or gold rewards for the winner.  That'd be something players can turn off though.

Or, if we're going for ME3 style horde mode, the players could import their Inquisitors (Matched with players of similar level) into a horde type mode at a Fade tear, fighting onrushing demons or red templars or whatever.  Or they could be dedicated Multiplayer characters as agents of the Inquisition.

Perhaps the least likely option, I'd sort of like to see dedicated MP characters as agents of the Inquisition, with full character creator customization, lead through story dungeons in the style of SWTOR Flashpoints.  The dungeons would become their own ongoing story experience, with new dungeons released in the weeks and months following release.  I think it could be cool.

Quite happy with no multiplayer at all though.  ^_^

Yeah, that would be really cool. I never liked how you couldn't see and customise faces in ME3's MP. Would love to have that extra touch of customisation on my MP characters if MP characters are separate characters from my inquisitors.

I hope they don't go overboard on the single player game and thus rob resources from multiplayer.  I'm all in favour of a single player game as long as it does not foul up my mp experience.  I'd just as soon skip single player all together and use all those resources on multiplayer to make it as good as it can be.  I can see why some people like a single player game but I'd just as soon never see one and not put any restrictions on my mp experience.

never liked MP. not in ME3, nor in any other game. ever. I still didn't played a single time at Uncharted 2-3 MP, and ME3's only a few times to obtain the "better" (AH!) ending. and I hated it.

is a feature I really don't care about. I buy videogames to stay away from people and relax.

Videogames are, with reading, my most enjoyable thing to do in my "alone time". That's why I don't play MP. I don't need to met people when I'm playng. I don't like competition, and I hated being forced to play MP in ME3 to have the "a little less horrible ending".

I hope DAI doesn't have any MP. It already have the Keep as online requiremant, I hope is enought.

Am I the only person who has no preference whether or not the game has mp? like if it does, sweet I'll try it out but if it doesn't... well I am buying the game for the story anyway so whatever. I don't see why people are getting so aggressive about it.

There certainly is a "once bitten..." aspect to it. Personally I feel any MP should be free dlc, with no hooks into SP at all.

Very much this.

If I have to install MP to play SP, I don't think it's "optional" enough.

I don't care either.  I understand some people being cautious because they are still upset that one ending in Mass Effect 3 required multiplayer until The Extended Cut was released, my issue is that there is the assumption that it will be in the game because they aren't confirming that its not in the game.

they already do the same with promised "blood magic/being a blood mage", and "we are not related to the Chantry"...now we officially do not have a option to do blood magic and we forced to have members from Chantry as our companions and advisors

about multiplayer i hope that Bioware never spend their time and money for this sh*t and concentrate only on singleplayer

I think you're taking a pretty dubious definition of the word "promise" there, really.

Especially when said requirement was removed in later DLC  :?

One would think Bioware recognizes the issue multiplayer poses amongst the fans...
