A reasonable assumption.

We don't have any proof that the game won't be buggy to the point of unplayability either. But given that Bioware has taken plenty of time with this, it would make sense that it shouldn't be terribly buggy.

Given the backlash from the last event, and how they're actively trying to avoid such a circumstance, it would seem unlikely that they'd screw it up.

So active they're avoiding even saying the M-word.

It's not a major industry event, more like a public convention. But considering we don't know if BW will even be there this year, I'm not holding my breath.

BW won't be sending anyone there, it's in the middle of their final crunch apparently.

A few pages back someone posted a Destructoid article that mentioned a big announcement coming up later in the month.

I know I said this about Gamescom, but there's a fair chance that this announcement will be MP.

I don't know if this article has been referenced in this thread or not, but apparently there is still a "big announcement" coming at the end of the month. It could mean MP, or something entirely unrelated.

There's more Inquisition coverage on the way later this month, including a big announcement that I can't wait to share.

EDIT: Okay, already mentioned. Just disregard then. ^_^

Why? Since when is MP the glue that holds all games together? Will DA:I utterly fail without it? Hardly not. Dragon Age is a SP and its best as a SP game.

At this point does the game look good to you and are you enthused about it?  Will this all change in a matter of 2 seconds if a mp announcement comes out?

I will certainly become a lot more skeptical about the game, seeing as how MP would require different mechanics and implies a lot of potential overlap with SP. All of these are serious sources of concern.

It wasn't accidental, at least based on Chris Priestly saying they wanted to reward players who participated in the full ME3 experience, or something to that effect.

Which was since refuted by Alan Schumaker on here.  (sorry if I got the spelling wrong)

Or when the date of the Keep becoming publicly available?

The Keep is nowhere near a big enough announcement to warrant press interviews and an embargo, I reckon. They'll announce the release date on the Bioware blog, not through press previews.

IGN had someone there alongside Destructoid, and I'm willing to bet every outlet that did an article on the Fallow Marshes (was that the name?) also saw whatever it is that they're revealing later in August.

It was a long playtest, they got an hour with each of the ten environments. I think it's completely plausible that part of the playtest session was MP.

(And if it's any consolation to you, that journalist was excited about it.)

With there being timed missions involving your advisors, i feel like if there is a MP aspect to the game it will involve those. Like for example oh look your friend is currently doing a mission in orzammar, would you like to help them complete it quicker? This would be pretty much the same deal that occurred in AC4. Plus its something companies like to trot out to show how you can play such and such game via tablets and other mobile devices.

I hope not. There should be two options on the main screen:

Campaign (or whatever)

Multiplayer

And never the twain shall meet. I'm super pumped for MP but it needs to stay separate from SP.

A mutliplayer which only accidentally had a minor impact on one variation of the Mass Effect ending and which they both apologized and released a free DLC at their own expense to address? Odds are they wouldn't want to repeat that.

I think we'll just disagree that the only ending in which the main character of three games lives is not minor.

In that same post he mentions the IOS game, save imports, and multiplayer. I do be the original intent was not that you needed to do multiplayer, but you needed to do something beyond the base game (which includes a save import). I have always believed there was originally another mission in the base game to get to the point, but near the end of the game it was scrapped like what happens in a lot of game production and they didn't balance the numbers to accommodate that change.

I will keep holding out for some more amazing MP content from BIOWARE will be part of Dragon Age Inquisition until the bitter end.

For me, the bitter end is something from Bioware saying..."Hey guys, there is no MP being offered with this game Dragon Age Inquisition" or something similar.

Bioware keeps says that this game is pushing the boundaries on anything they have ever released previously, including all other Bioware games. So, as far as I am concerned, MP is on the table unless they say otherwise.

Have added Allan's clarification to the OP (other links) in the hope that it will help us to go past re-running the ME3 MP 'best ending' controversy here, recognising that it was a big deal at the time, but also that over 2 years have passed... http://forum.bioware.../#entry16889343

If there is a huge announcement later this month then it is either the date for the Keep to go live or the MP. I would say MP is looking more likely. If it turn out to be MP. I got mix feelings about MP in a DA game. I dunno to me DA and MP just never went together.

I just read that article and I do think it if was multiplayer they wouldn't have told anyone to avoid an early leak and from what I was reading at the end of that article he already knows.

That'd be nice, thanks. I definitely missed it, and recent clarification after a few years is nice to have.

I do agree it would be nice to get beyond that issue, but I think until Inquisition is released to the public it won't go away since it was BioWare's most recent release, I remember the same thing happening between Assassin's Creed 3 and Black Flag.

I think great games eventually turn people around, and it seems that players have relatively short memories if the next game in a series fixes what they found objectionable before. Quality eventually results in success, I feel.

(Speaking personally, I was tremendously critical of AC3 but loved AC4 to bits, and bad memories of one game didn't really influence my decision to buy the sequel once it looked like it would be fantastic.)

I sort of understand the skepticism, but there's definitely a point where it becomes irrational and maybe even paranoid.

Err, the Keep is going to be the link connecting all the games in the franchise going forward.  That's pretty big.

Hah-hah, sure it was "accidentally" promoting and forcing players to play multiplayer. EA is run by idealists too.
I also want to see where Bioware apologised for that? Link?

It would be interesting to see how many people gonna use the much hyped "Keep". Casuals will just use some presets - human male warrior(?). And Bioware care a LOT about casuals, ME3 showed that.

@In Exile: Just to throw this out there but if they announce MP it does NOT mean it has heavy overlap with SP and it does not mean new mechanics. It just means it has MP. You, personally, would 'assume' those 2 things but the inclusion does not mean that. I would 'hope' that it has no tie with the SP, other then maybe in theme or 'reason' for the MP stuff to be happening. Such as are characters having ties with the inquisition but not actually effecting SP.

As for the whole new mechanics, outside of PvP obviously needing something it would more likely mean mechanics present in SP not being there in MP. For instance tactical camera and pausing would more then likely not exist in MP. MP would not magically make those disappear from the SP component. Personally I'd love it if they just used the overmaps for SP and just deactivated all the quests for a MP-Free roam mode. Not all of the areas just the 8-10 large maps with dungeon's to explore with buddies. We could each have our own mounts, stuff like that.

If it exist I expect something closer to ME3 but it would be nice to get something grander. Hell I'd be happy with a 2 player co-op allowed in the story. Having a friend come into my SP game and take up 1 of the spots in the party but everything else stays as is, Tactical cam, pause/play, using team members and all that. And before anyone whines about that idea, it existed in their original games, BG, BG2 and NWN all had that. They haven't done it since cause they felt it would be boring to watch people have conversations as the 2nd person, but they have mechanics now that let you do conversations with out that whole view and, frankly, I'm willing to sit around while my buddy has those conversations if It means I get to tank for him in his game.
