I've been looking at Cameron Lee's interview today with IGN.

( and I have to say it must be hard in the days of recorded media to say anything without being scrutinised !! These comments are simply my interpretation of what Cameron said. You will need to come to your own conclusions),

Cameron and Daemon from IGN said:

  • IGN: It’s [DAI] actually also part of the new EA Access...
  • CL: Yes
  • IGN: …plan that was just announced, right?
  • CL: That’s right. That’s right. Yep.
  • IGN: That means if you subscribe to EA Access you get early access to the game.
  • CL: Yeah, you’ll get access to a part of the game which we’ll talk about at a later point.
  • IGN: But then you’re like you can start playing the game and then your save file can carry over?
  • CL: Absolutely, that’s right.
  • IGN: That’s very cool.

I'm also going to show a nice picture of Cameron's face when he spoke about that undiscussed part of the game.

In my opinion only, that's a knowing smile about a part of the game that has not yet been discussed.
And again, in my opinion, Cameron is very pleased about whatever it is. Cheshire cat right there  :)

To save your MP character info, I'd suppose.

I think I really love Cameron Lee. His interviews are always awesome.

Without going over the whole thing, from all the dev comments I've read, that's about right. Maybe something that generated some EMS was removed late in development or the EMS gate wasn't working as intended. As I read it the intent was that 50% EMS - i.e. without multiplayer was intended to trigger it. Hence it was both a bug and a mistake. The statements about MP not being required were honestly made as far as I'm concerned but the outcome turned out not to be as intended. I can understand the developers sensitivity - it's tough to make a mistake which becomes such an issue and which for years afterwards has them cast as the spawn of beelzebub... I think it's time to let that one rest, and judge this next game on its merits (though this is the BioWare forum so discussions about ME3 endings and boobies are pretty much hard wired...).

Trust is a currency that's hard to earn, yet easily spent.

Yeah, maybe it was a mistake, but it was one they assured us would not, could not happen.  And yet it did .

As Gandalf put it: "The burned hand teaches best.  After that advice about fire goes to the heart"

Can you blame people for being suspicious, even hostile to sticking their hand in there again?

Wouldn't that just go to your profile, though?  I mean, I've deleted ME3 and all saves, but all my GAW stuff stuck around online.

I do appreciate that they try. Allan Schumacher was earlier in this thread trying to tease out the real issues with the MP which is what a good developer does. We don't always know what we actually want or what actually bothers us. Like extra credits says, maybe you think want more power ups for your weapon but the answer could simply be a stronger weapon or at least stronger feeling weapon.

I suppose its conceivable to design a multiplayer that even I would enjoy but it would probably be something radically different from what they're considering and something that wouldn't be fun for most players who are not me. So the easier answer is don't make a guy like me play it.

No I really can't blame them because trust is a very personal commodity.

It's a perfectly rational view held, as are other more trusting interpretations.

I hope that if MP is in the game then then it will allow burnt hands not be inserted at all,

or for those who do that it offers hand cream and a kiss better.

There are two possibilities:

  • It is an undiscussed single player component
  • It is an undiscussed multiplayer component

If it is an undiscussed single player component, the save game comment would apply

completely but what could that be that we haven't seen? We know it's not day-one dlc.

If it is an undiscussed multiplayer component, the save game comment would apply

generally, a multiplayer state would be saved, but Cameron would hardly be in a position

to clarify that it would be an online save vs. an in-game save, so a 'yes that's right'

reflects that your state is saved (unlike Destiny beta players who had their 'saves' wiped).

The save comment answer doesn't prove anything either way in my opinion.

I drop in/drop out multiplay could be cool which would mean a save game would make sense.

Explore the huge world with other co-operatively, do some quests designed for co-op, it could have its own separate story line.

If there is multiplay, and it's simply a repeat of ME3's hoard mode, I'll be 1 and done. If it's there and something new and innovative however, yeah, why not.

Going by previous demos, it could be the start of the game, which we haven't seen and atm has people wondering how all the different races/classes of the Inquisitor could be justified as being at this event.

Certainly possible. Though I think it was said the origins stories would be less complex than DAO.

With the latest trailer showing the Temple of Andraste going up in smoke makes me question how much such a demo if it precedes that plot point, would constitute a big announcement not yet discussed.

And if that was the truth of it, then all EA access would give you is an exclusive demo 5 days before launch not available to anyone else, and actually, past demos (such as ME3 demo sections) - did not have save files.

Thinking on my last post "what would make me play multiplayer" I hit upon something that, again, extra credits brought up (I swear I follow other game commentators).

We're used to the four roles in an MMO game but at the end of the day, you're still all ground assault. What about allowing different players to adopt entirely different modes of play? If we use ME3 as an example (because this is what immediately comes to mind) What if I could play mission control while you're on the ground? What if I was driving the vehicle or providing air cover? Maybe I'm manning a turret keeping a different wave of enemies from slipping into the mission zone to bother you. You'll still have monsters to kill but if I do my job, the monsters will be kept to a minimum?

EC mentioned something like Farmville allowing casuals to produce supplies for people playing a strategy game as a general sending different waves of troops into areas where people who want to play multiplayer ground assaults can take on the role of individual squad mates. Has potential I think.

Why would a MP demo have a save file?

The things you unlock in MP, and your character upgrades/xp, are carried over to the full game if you buy it after the five day trial.

Well good to see someone is trying it. If only I had even the slightest desire to play a shooter set anywhere near the modern era. (or really anything more or less set in the modern world) (I mean whats the point? Real life is much higher fidelity, just go do that, and let us simulate things we really can't experience in real life).

Would be cool to see a fantasy or sci fi game tackle this.

EDIT: The above is somewhat tongue in cheek. I don't need an explanation of why the Modern Military Shooter exists. I just want to poke at it because it looks incredibly boring.

I wasn't aware I could call down an orbital strike in the real world. I'll need to try that next time someone cuts me off in traffic.

I tried the orbital strike several times this week. It didn't take.

But to be sort of on topic. If the MP (that may or may not exist) is as enjoyable as ME3's MP, I will be happy. I'm curious to see what it would be like in a fantasy setting.

I imagine it would be very similar in its idea. You could be inquisition agents and its more or less the same as me3 accept maybe instead of a survival mode you take part in co-op missions or both! I wouldn't mind this, however I wouldn't want to be forced to play it or I miss out on content. Also no multiplayer achievements.

I thought the same thing until I actually tried it with a few friends. Games can surprise you...which seems relevant to this thread. :)
