I'd rather have ME style MP rather than co-op questing, I think.

i agree.. the latter would lead to some major trolling i believe. On the off topic of MMO's and specifically a dragon age themed one, i think if Bioware looked at what was done in TESO and did the opposite then it could be awesome.

Anywho back to how the non announced/non existent DA multiplayer is going to cause the end of the world as we know it......

Now I'm confused.  How would co-op (which I thought was getting a group of friends together playing in set 'arena' or playing out the combat while the main character went through the narrative) lead to more trolling than ME3MP?  In fact, how would either of them create trolling, if, as I'm led to believe, you could create your on areas that were effectively invite only?

Nothing wrong with the base game design of TESO, in fact the lvl 1-50 questing is better than any other recent MMO including swtor. It fell down with the endgame, performance issues and issues with grouping.

@DragonKingReborn : Well you'll always have trolling, to some extent even from your friends. Well, at least from MY friends, but we're all dicks to each other for are mutual amusement. But that is more in talking not actually screwing up each others games so even there I dunno. Now, if a story co-op had some kinda match making I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. Screw trying to play my story campaign with a random.

I want both styles to be honest. I'd love campaign to allow me to bring in a buddy or 2 (or more likely me join my friends game to tank for him). But for general co-op with matchmaking I'd prefer randomized (enemies) dungeon crawlers, or arena wave stuff or whatever. But I'll be happy with either, but the latter would ultimately get more play time out of an online community then pure campaign co-op, but I don't think that means it shouldn't exist. Both should, far as Im concerned.

Course, I'm ultimately here for the single player story so no MP is a shrug from me. I don't 'really' care if its not there, I just would play the crap outa it if it does exist.

I haven't met a new MMO that fell down there. NO UO, EQ1 or 2, and WoW had some spectacular failures in that department *cough* molten core.

I feel bad SWtoR has a bad rap (I would of loved a KoToR 3) because it really did strive to put some good story to a MMO but that genre itself makes it a uphill battle.

As far as DAI and what form MP would take (if it is even there) I am indifferent. At this point I am about sold on the game and I might pre-order. Thank goodness I still have a few months to decide on that.

Yeah I'm back playing swtor now and enjoying it a lot. There's a lot of endgame now and the combat system is actually pretty good. Its just a pity the engine still runs like a dog.

Ya when I was playing it my PC was about 10 years old (upgraded the best I could but still just couldn't do it) but I did the endgame at the end. Its your typical MMO endgame but I did like the fights in the Vault because they threw a lot of environmental situations in there.

It gets thrown under the bus because its a MMO but a lot of the individual class stories are great but they do get drowned out in having to go thru the same MMO style level grinding to get to the next point.

Hate MMO, MP or SWtoR all you want but it strove to bring story and personal choice to the forefront in a medium that it is difficult to do that and if you think that sort of grinding is bad try the FinalFantasy MMO's that have a interesting story but you better be on board day one to see it.

And given everything shown about FAI if there is some MP part I am not worried because the single player looks awesome.

AusGamers: You’ve got the party system, and you’ve got the tactical mode where you can freeze time and get your party members to do things, in my mind, it lends itself really easily towards co-op. Is that something you have considered for this, or is this a purely single-player-driven experience?

Cameron: We’ve looked at co-op and stuff like that, in the past, and Mass Effect has done amazing stuff with their multiplayer, so we’ve looked at stuff, but at this point, there’s nothing fixed.

I don't think it would cause trolling at all, but the player base would be much smaller imo than the ME style of mp.

I hope they don't reveal Multiplayer at ALL, rather when you buy the game, install it, and registered the game, then get to the title screen BAM! Multiplayer right there under load game. HAHA! EAT IT SUCKA WE GOT YOUR MONEY NOW! I would fall out my chair laughing so hard, then continue to play multiplayer until i beat the game at least once before playing multiplayer until the end of time.

Taken literally, that would almost have to mean no MP at release, because they can't magic together MP in a few weeks.

Though the interviewer immediately interpreted it as "nothing to announce"

"Nothing fixed" is just "we have nothing to announce at this time". It's far more ambiguous than denying it outright - which, remember, they've never done yet.

It's basically word games. Nothing is fixed right up to the point where it is fixed.

(I assume that they can't even hint about the existence of something under NDA.)

Yep. Nothing's fixed probably means "we're working on it but we won't say anything until the work goes one way or the other". Hopefully, they will get MP to work and not let the effort go to waste.

'nothing fixed'.

Feels stronger that 'not discussing it' to me...

If we go past Pax with no news, then as far as I'm concerned I'm dropping the speculation for this launch

and will fix my awesomeness stare firmly on single player.

Yeah. "Not discussing it" often means, "I'm PRing my a$$ out of this one". "Nothing's fixed" - "We might surprise you with a co-op or another form of multiplayer cause we never said DA:I is strictly SP, so watch out".

There's still bonus content for Deluxe (tba).

Exclusive content for Xbox (tba) and

'big announcement' according to Destructoid

It will just be nice to get those out of embargo so we can discuss what's there rather than what might be there.

88 days to go...

Yeah the tone of the answer to me seemed more that it is not going to be announced any time soon and if at all will be later on as a dlc down the road.  The anti MP crowd may have their win.

I didn't say it was dishonest. I said it feels dishonest.

How does that make any sense at all?

the same way "it's technically legal" or Exact Words  makes sense.

It may be okay in a strictly literal interpretation.  But it feels quite off.

As i've said befire, their cutting it really close if they're still working on it.

This interview is dated yesterday.

The phrase "nothing is fixed", held strictly to its meaning, would indicate multiplayer could be in or out at this point(assuming its not just PR misdirection).

In order for MP to be in or out at this point, they would've needed to put in quite a bit of work, but it would need to be in an incomplete state.

Or it could just be usual PR misdirection and mean nothing.

At this stage I would doubt multiplayer is in but if it is it'll be the ME3 style me thinks

I'm all about the literal interpretation.

I'm wondering how something can feel dishonest if it isn't? What is the basis for the feeling, then?

Exclusive content for Xbox (tba)

They've clarified that the exclusive content is the first singleplayer DLC.

Xbox owners get it early.

Spending over a year plugging a game, then not mention MP's existence until the closing weeks.

Technically, yeah it's their perogative on how to market their game.  But waiting so long to confirm what is a highly aqnticipated/feared aspect of the game would strike me as not entirely on the level.  So let's just say it would not fill this consumer with confidence.
