Sounds very similar to ME3MP. 4 person, "pre built" characters, there is a currency to buy better things, level cap at 20 and promote. Nervous because while I loved ME3MP that combat system seems to lend itself better to MP like this than DA.
Sad that there won't be a lot of whining and simpering about how it "affects" single player though...that would have brightened my day.

From the multiplayer FAQ
Will playing MP be required to get the full-game experience?·
No. The SP campaign is separate from MP.
Is MP going to affect my endings in SP?
No. Absolutely not. Our goal with Dragon Age multiplayer is not to affect your SP campaign.
Do I get to transfer items from SP to MP? Or vice versa?
There is no connection between SP items and MP items on purpose.
We wanted to make sure that the two economies are separate, which will allow a stronger progression in both SP and MP.
About as good as could reasonably be expected, I suppose.

I knew Bioware was clowning, by saying we cannot confirm nor deny multiplayer. They always kenw there was going to be multiplayer in the game.

If anything, Inquisition's multiplayer sounds a lot like the flashpoints from SWOTOR.
Kind of. It's more like the 'new model' of SWTOR flashpoints, the variable class-neutral kind. Think Kuat Drive Yards, Story Mode Czerka, and the "invasion" FPs. It especially reminds me of KDY due to the promise of variability in the dungeons instead of a single repetitive scripted track for each.

I just wonder if we're limited to our console, or our platform, ie. Can PS4 players play with PS3? and XboxOne with Xbox360? Or is it all universal? (which I highly doubt)

Welp, that's that. Preorder goes bye-bye.
We can't have:
- Weapon placement that makes sense: (Floating back daggers)
- Decent weapon selection for rogues (Hope you like daggers, and maybe that one DLC axe)
- Dual-weilding warriors, bow warriors, or armored mages
- More than two armor slots
- More than eight slots for skills
But we can have an MP mode? OH YAY. Why would I want things like player options and enhanced classed and enhanced re-playability when I can have an MP mode? I knew this thing was going to be gimped for an MP mode as soon as that damned Combat Q&A came out. All because of a multplayer mode. What a surprise.
The SP campaign for this had better be perfect, because otherwise it's the same marketing techniques that stuffed DA2 and ME3 firmly into a "trying way too hard to please everyone and coming off ingeniune" box.

How is iakus doing?
Iakus is fine. I don't know about Lion-O, though. Haven't read one of his posts yet.

I think technical reasons mean it'll be limited to the same console.
Destiny recently talked about this problem and the issue is that the resolution on the PS4 and PS3 versions are different, so players would literally be seeing two sizes of the same enemies. It's basically unworkable.

IGN said there was no conversation or any real story though. They are also randomly generated so a bit like Kuat Drive Yards. But yeah, there is a bit of similarity. I think it was a good way to go.

"Multiplayer runs sort of parallel to the Inquisitor’s story -- you’re working for the Inquisitor, running behind-the-scenes Operations with a squad. “One of the things that came out of early explorations is that we wanted the multiplayer characters to be characters,” Laidlaw said. BioWare didn’t want templatized, boring heroes lacking personalities. “They’re kind of like mini followers, and they banter among themselves.”" x
So at first I was "meh" but this... So they have banter and unique personalities? I hope we get to learn more about them cause I really like this idea and am now excited to see who our lil Agents are. ![]()
Also interesting the IGN article mentions 9 MP chars, while the FAQ on the site says 12.

About as good as could reasonably be expected, I suppose.
There were many concerns from those not wanting multiplayer, many very reasonable.
It looks to me that BioWare have worked hard to address those so people who don't like it don't have it impacting them.
I'm pleased that those people have been duly considered.

That's something I've never understood. If you are at your own screen, looking at the same content as your squadmate, why does it matter if one or more players are seeing that content in different resolutions?
If two people were playing on PC, couldn't one set the resolution 1920x1080 and the other have 1600x900, or 1920x1200?

Basically every concern that people expressed in this thread about a possible multiplayer has been proven unfounded.
DAMP really is the least intrusive multiplayer mode they could've possibly made, while still actually existing.

i personally dont care much about the floating daggers. i dont need realism, i just need stuff thats fun to play. would've loved more armor slots, dual wielding warrios etc.
however i've always wanted an multiplayer in both mass effect and dragon age. not the MP that we're getting but story co-op to be exact. your friend could be just another 'companion' you pick up. but he/she can also make some choices concerning answers/events he/she is like your right hand. and he/she can also get into an romance. although it would lock that character out for you then. it shouldn't be to hard to implement. reason why i did so many replays of halo, swtor and alot of other games was because i could play through the story again with a friend.
about da2&me3 trying to please everyone. i prefer da2 over da:o. dont lynch me please. sure, rehashed area's sucked, story was not as good as that of da:o but i enjoyed the gameplay(combat) that much more. the gameplay/ui in da:o was just irritating. made me unable to go through it more then once. and me3 was good (except for the initial pre-patch ending) i think most people hated me3 because you lost so many amazing characters(depending on the choice). man, i miss legion. i want a legion spin-off!
edit: and i especially would've loved more then 8 skills.

Not every concern, we still don't know if the control schemes have been designed around MP with less options then before. we don't know if certain factions were designed with MP in mind instead of what's best for SP. We don't know if the skills have been affected because of the inclusion of MP. Or if tactical camera was designed like it was because of MP.
We wont know until the SP game is released how much of an effect the MP game has had on the single player game.

Let me guess everything good about the game will be an SP "influence" and everything wrong will be an MP "influence"?

For some it won't be proved even now. I hope they choose to give it a try post-review, but that will be up to them.

No I am saying there might be influence good or bad which goes against what Bioware have said that MP will have no influence on the SP game what so ever and that the two teams are totally separate.
If there is influence on the SP game which some of us don't like then MP has had a negative influence on the game which we said could happen with the inclusion of MP.

Sooo, MP you don't ssaaaayy. Semi-disappointed we don't get to actually make the characters but I do like that apparently there is banter between the characters. Really hope (and apparently it's not the case) we could pick gender at least. Oh well - random dungeon adventure's goooo!

Oh right and Crafting in MP?

I was one of the people who was very against the idea of MP, and hated how it was done in ME. It felt like I was missing out on SP stuff because I had zero interest in MP (even if that wasn't actually true, it still felt true and that was sort of discouraging.)
Having said that, I have absolutely zero problem with DAMP if this is what it's going to be. I might even actually try it for myself. So that's probably a victory.

The FAQ made it very much seem like SP combat design has been influenced by MP.
The multiplayer environment gave us a perfect opportunity for testing combat, creatures, and encounter design, and since the two environments are near-identical, every improvement spread to both parts of the game.
Which does make me sceptical, because I don't think good design for MP is the same as good design for SP.
