No I am saying there might be influence good or bad which goes against what Bioware have said that MP will have no influence on the SP game what so ever and that the two teams are totally separate.

That's actually not what they said at all.

Was multiplayer (MP) mode created by the same team that made single-player (SP)?

·         MP and SP were developed side by side. The multiplayer environment gave us a perfect opportunity for testing combat, creatures, and encounter design, and since the two environments are near-identical, every improvement spread to both parts of the game.

I was playing ME3 MP two years after the game shipped. We believe co-op MP is fun!

If there is influence on the SP game which some of us don't like then MP has had a negative influence on the game which we said could happen with the inclusion of MP.

The problem is that in a lot of cases there wont be any proof that MP was the influence and people will just blame it anyway because they don't like it.

People have already begun doing that and the game isn't even out yet.

Basically every concern that people expressed in this thread about a possible multiplayer has been proven unfounded.

DAMP really is the least intrusive multiplayer mode they could've possibly made, while still actually existing.

Nothing's proven until the game is released. We have claims that those concerns are addressed. I for one believe them. If others wish to wait for reviews, I don't blame them.

I thought it was interesting how well BioWare has kept this quiet over two years:

How long has your team been working on MP?·

Over two years. After Mass Effect 3 MP's success, we created a special team with veterans from the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises. Our lead MP designer and lead online programmer have been on the Dragon Age franchise since Dragon Age: Origins. The addition of designers, programmers, artists, audio, QA, and production from Mass Effect 3 MP will help us ship a really fun co-op game that suits our franchise.

The only real clue was the lack of a confirmation or denial and that achievements leak.

How is iakus doing?

He's determined that SP is going to suck now because of MP. Nevermind that there are plenty of poor SP games without MP, MP is the reason he won't enjoy the SP.

People take skipping over menu options srsly.

I disagree with him since I love ME3, but to be fair, the one modern BioWare game to include it dropped the ball for him hard on multiple levels. Regardless, I would feel kind of "triggered" by its "sudden" announcement for Inquisition after an experience like that.

People will spin it however they want.

I've seen some people that rejoiced at announcements 2 months ago for the dedication to a great SP, now turning on those same announcements as "MP targeted drivel for buffoons!"

Meh. There is a different between hiding something for an announcement, and being sneaky.

I've seen a lot of people think that building a good SP and MP is mutually exclusive. Take Biower's statements of "commitment to the best SP experience possible" as an admission that this is tacked on or that they're ashamed of MP and thats why it sucks and has made the entire game suck.

If a dev made something so personally traumatic as to be triggerable, I have to think it would be really, really stupid to go back for another.

Has there been any word given yet as to the possibility of Tactical turn based co-op play being used?

I often skip m/p altogether, as my RL reflexes would be a detriment to most teams, though NWN1 is an exception due to the nature of combat. And it or XCOM like play might allow me to better participate on even footing, so to speak.

I can see one temporary hurdle...

I would like to experience environments in single-player first.

That might keep be away from multiplayer for a few days...

"I love the idea of only one spec! That makes it so much more important! And a more limited skill set is great because it becomes more tactical what I upgrade versus having all the power! Biower ur so luvlee!"

to

"THIS IS ****** BULLSHIT! THE ONE SPEC IS JUST SO THEY CAN BE LAZY AND TACK ON A MP MODE WITHOUT EXTRA WORK! BUNCH OF DICKS! AND THIS IS WHY SP SKILLS ARE LIMITED OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'D DO THIS TO ME!"

Which does make me sceptical, because I don't think good design for MP is the same as good design for SP.

It was in Mass Effect 3.

Nevertheless, I see little basis for the belief that MP is responsible for the removal of the radial menu, given that said menu still existed in ME3 SP while being removed in MP.

This was called out in June. Congrats to efd731.

@ehlien You feeling DAMP yet brah?!

@AarynFlynn soaked to the bone. Ordering more towels.

- I'm missing something here....... ???

Not gonna Lie, saw DAMP thought "Dragon Age MultiPlayer". Then immediately Facepalmed, too much time on the BSN.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Co-op MP for DA:I!

DA:I is not only going to supply me with the best SP, story driven campaign, but now I am going to be able to enjoy the game with my friends!  :D

I have read the FAQ and I am loving BioWare's approach to keeping the SP and MP completely separate; even if I would have been okay with a little cross over. Free MP DLC as well as no paywall is awesome news, and I am glad to see that the good micro-transaction system from ME 3 is making a return; with the added benefit of better player control with the crafting system. All in all I can't not wait to play the game and both SP and MP look to offer many hours of entertainment.

I do have a couple questions about clarification in MP if anyone has seen this, or if Allan (or some of the other Devs can fish my post out of the veritable sea of responses  :P).

I know that the FAQ says that new characters will be added later via DLC, but are these new characters going to include some of the various fantasy creatures alongside Humans, Dwarves, Elves and Quanri?

It might seem like a rather odd request, but I love to play as the non-human elements in various settings (and in this case I would consider Dwarves, Elves, and Qunari to be humans). I know that I would absolutely love to play as a Mabari war hound, or a Sylvan, or Golem, or Werewolf, or Wyvern, etc. alongside the SP races.

Please BioWare, don't be afraid to expand the roster with unique characters and gameplay mechanics, I loved the variation with the Volus and Geth Juggernauts kits in ME 3 I would like to see even more variation in DA:I. It's obvious that the DA:I MP team has built off of the foundation that the ME 3 MP team laid down; please bring that expansion of ideas to the non-human characters.

Regarding the crafting system and weapons and  armor building/upgrading, are we going to be able to mix and match our armor pieces and customize their individual appearances?

I know that the FAQ mentioned that new armor wouldn't have differing stats ( :() but that we could construct specific sets to unlock specific characters; thereby giving players more control over their unlocks ( :)), and that we can make alternate armor sets for new looks for our characters, but are we going to see the option of mixing and matching our unlocked/created armor pieces?

I would love to see some extra customization for our characters.

Lastly I had a question on the MP characters in general, are they pre-set characters (i.e. the Two Handed Warrior is a human male only) or are we going to be able to create a character within the Two Handed Warrior 'kit'?

While I am not a super big fan of the 'kit' system, I can understand the logic behind it. With the division of the character options into specific classes BioWare can expand the roster as well as focusing on only a small part of the class in question; balancing just the Two Handed Warrior tree with the other classes and abilities is a lot easier than trying to balance the entire Warrior skill tree. What I am curious about though, is are we going to see only specific kits being specific races and genders?

Personally, I hope that the various options are not broken down via racial choices as well as genders. Can BioWare provide clarification on this?

I wouldn't mind either way, since we have tactical - but I could've sworn they've shown the radial menu at some point.  Maybe I'm just remembering things wrong.

So, there's no way I could dig through the many threads and tons of pages that have popped up, which means I just have to ask.

Has it been said if multiplayer will be cross-play across different generation consoles? I know it most likely won't be cross-play in the PC/PS3/360 way, but what I'm wondering is if at least PS3/PS4 can play together, or 360/XBO play together. Because if we had 5 different multiplayers instead of three, it'd be a bit much, and it'd be a shame that PS4 players couldn't play with their friends on PS3.

Sorry, I skipped over some importants words. They've removed using abilities from the radial menu. The menu is still there, but it's missing the options to access and use your abilities in battle.

On console, at least. Hasn't been confirmed one way or another on PC.

Ah, gotcha.  Well that's a shame, hopefully PC has the spell bar like it did back in Origins (idk if it had it in 2, since I haven't played 2 on PC)

Wondering about this myself, actually. A lot of my friends haven't jumped to the newer consoles yet so I'm probably going to have to buy the game twice (once on the 360, once on the ps4) to play with people I know. Considering a few of them jumped ship to the PS3 from the 360, I'm hoping it's at least cross-gen compatible.

Why wouldn't there be?

The Q&A referred to a female reaver. I think there was a tweet confirming that there are multiple sexes but not for each specialization.

Some of the recent tweets, to save that thread getting spammed:  :D

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

I'm really delighted to have multiplayer announced. It's a fun, co-op dungeon crawl with your friends.

Barrett Rodych ‏@ForgedPixels

I've actually playtested more DAI MP than SP. Having been one of the primary QA on ME3MP, I gotta say I really like where DAI MP is going.

Blair Brown ‏@blairkerrbrown

#DAI Multiplayer Announced! Not connected to the SP game (ala galactic readiness), Free DLC, enjoy!

User: Does affect any of the single player story? I.e. Strength of the Inquisition to get better outcomes for ending/or other plots

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

Nope. No story impact, aside from themes.

John Epler ‏@eplerjc

To clarify, playing MP vs. not playing MP will have no impact on your SP experience.

User @AarynFlynn  count for SP so my question is, IS the MP going to have ANY effect on the SP at all?

@User  No gated content. But we do have some cool ideas for the future, even as we keep the experiences distinct

Dragon Age Inquisition's multiplayer has been IMMENSELY fun to play. Can't wait to join you.  :) http://ca.ign.com/ar...ll-about-loot …

Ability Drain ‏@AbilityDrain

Since the characters work for our Inquisitor, will some of the items we unlock in multiplayer become available in story mode?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

No, they're separate modes.

Ability Drain ‏@AbilityDrain 5

Thanks for replying. Ok, one more: will we get to meet some of those characters in single player? Or are they strictly MP only

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

More details later.

I hope we pleasantly surprised folks with ME3 MP. DAI is looking to do exactly that. Try it, and you'll see.

Pretty excited for DAI's multiplayer. It's a rad experience from what I've played and seen. (I also helped a little bit on it last year)

@axl99 The best one I've seen today is Multiplayer Only Inquisition Saturday Tournaments #MOIST

User: Question: Are MP characters' genders fixed, or are there male/female options for each character?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

They are characters, so their genders are fixed, but there are men and women warriors, for instance.

User: MP doesnt have an impact on SP but does SP have an impact on MP? Like you can only play a mission once youve 'unlocked' in SP?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

Nope. Consider them separate.
