Deluxe bonus content:

So how about - a nice tinted helmet for your MP character and an inquisitors comfy chair for Skyhold?

lime.jpg

In all seriousness, whatever it is is likely to be a bit of a gimmick.

All the bonus content is gimmicky anyway.

I paid an extra 10 bucks just so I can ride a horse with a sword going through its head. The WWE couldn't come up with a gimmick that enticing if they tried.

Ah, regardless on my feelings towards it, I'm happy for all you guys who are super excited for it. :) I may eventually try it again and see if I have more fun with it than MEs. It's just hard when you don't know anyone to play with, cause random strangers can be really rude sometimes.

As long as it doesn't affect he SP game (which we've been told it doesn't) I'll try not to be too sour. XD I just have to stop my brain from wondering what they could have done with SP with the money used. But I know they have separate budgets. As long as SP is the main focus, I'll be happy!

I'd been pretty bummed the past three days upon the Varric announcement, and had commented that I wished they only announced positive things. This in my opinion is a positive thing! Looking forward to it. Congrats to everyone with the powers of prediction. I look forward to adventuring with you all. (:

You sound a lot like me. Kudos for staying positive about it. Let's let 'em be happy. Maybe somehow this'll work better for us. I actually had the great fortune to play exclusively with BSNers and it still didn't quite pan out for me because I found it all so trite what with going back to the same maps all the time and whatnot, so clearly it's not really geared toward folks with my mentality. But who knows, there's always a ghost of a chance with the next big thing. Best of luck to you.

Assuming the DAMP community ends up similar to the ME3MP community, the forums should be a great place to find pleasant people to play with.

To be honest I felt the same. I only played with randoms in ME3 and it worked great for me.

In any case, there's a group for matchmaking: http://forum.bioware...ge-multiplayer/

And just confirmed, you can always run solo:

Hi Mike. In the DA:I MP, do you HAVE to have 4 players? Or can the missions scale down for 2 or 3 players?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

You can run with less than 4, but it will be harder.

I'm a bit curious about that as well. I am on the other view though, I think it will be an endless leveling experience. It gives an incentive to keep improving your character which was lost in ME3 after you max your manifest, which in itself is nice. However I don't like promoting in ME3 so I am slightly negative about this and think it could have maybe been achieved in another way like gaining the point from crafting.

Well since I was able to enjoy a great system that didn't require me to level continuously in ME3, I won't be fussed if I don't get to have it my preferred way again.  Even so I really can't imagine endless attribute allocation because infinite power gains would definitely disrupt balance.  Enemy scaling would be a no-go.  So I can't see this as a thing unless there's some solution that I'm not thinking of atm.  Diminishing returns to the extent that extra points make no discernable difference? Eh, idk.

I imagine there would be an attribute cap per individual character.  Which is an acceptable compromise.  My hope is that the gain when capped will be noticeable but not so major that I feel gimped without the added points.  If my skill can make up for the lack of added points then I will be able to promote at my own pace rather than feeling it's a necessity.  Maker knows I have no patience for grinding.

We know the characters level up to 20, so the ME3 model pretty much applies I suspect but with spells/slashing instead of guns.

EDIT: And the development cycle of over two years puts this nicely against the launch success of ME3MP doesn't it...

Ditto that. I still hang with the same chums I met playing ME3 and it's been two and a half years almost.

Grats, MP fanatics. It seems you got it, and I got my only stipulation. I wish you many happy hours knocking mobs in the head.

Sooo am I reading it right that you can get loot for single player through multiplayer?

No, that is absolutely not correct. They are not connected in any gameplay formula.

Mm, I'm not sure what you mean since the ME3 model didn't have any gameplay effects (other than a respec) from promoting.  Sorry if I'm missing something.

Nope. The two game modes do not affect each other at all.  The only way they interact is by way of a concurrent story.

EDIT: woop, ninja'd

My BIG question:

As a mage (or any other class): Do we have access to the FULL skill trees of the  Single-Player classes or is it going to be a gimp version for the dudebros?

Thank you.

It is going to be a limited version of two trees, although I would hesitate to say it is for the sake of "the dudebros."

There will be different MP mage characters, each with its own specializations.  So there could be a Flame Mage with trees for fire elemental damage.  And a Winter Mage with trees focused on frost spells.  Or a single elemental mage with a tree for each.  Every character will be specialized somehow.

EDIT: Jeff'd again. He got this. I also just read that there will be two trees for each character.  20 skills each?  Yum.

In DAO, the level cap was 25, with the expiation it was bumped to 35. In dragon age 2 the most you can get to playing all the quest and dlcs normally is 29.

20 is normal for dragon age.

Also, since you're just "acting" out the missions you send your soldiers on, if they were level 25 and your Lord High Quizington capped at 25, then besides having gangrene in your hand it makes the Inquisimaster nothing special really as a fighter.

Oddly, I would be MORE interested in DAMP if it were integrated into the SP campaign. Mission completes that opened up new perks for the Inquisition or story/areas to explore, for example. That's how BioWare might win over this particular, overwhelmingly SP-focused gamer.

But as described, I can't say I see any real point. Even my fun needs a purpose (that is my issue, I'm aware).

Blame everyone who complained about me3mp integration. BW fans are picker then kids eating vegetables.

No, that is a completely wrong way to go with MP. People who bought a mostly SP game should not be punished if they don't play the MP aspect. I would be totally irate if this was the case and I was losing out on content from the SP campaign. This also would affect those without the means to play online with others.

I think Bioware learned a good lesson from ME, you can't force people to play part of the game they don't want to and expect them to be happy about it. Locking any content from SP in an attempt to give rewards to those who play MP is a terrible idea. I like the two play modes being as separate as possible, thank you.

If SP and MP are in a shared universe to play one mode exclusively is a deficit in content.
