If SP and MP are in a shared universe to play one mode exclusively is a deficit in content.

But they are separate contents, each it's own game if you will. I'm talking about having some parts of one game taken away because you won't play the other game. If..the analogy works. ;;

No, it isn't.

I've been playing Pokémon since it came out, and I refuse to join in the MP aspects. I assure you, I am not missing any content (I am, however, missing a fair bit of money from my wallet...)

That being said, death to MP.

Afraid to tell you, but you are, by definition, missing content when you don't play multiplayer content.

Multiplayer content is a type of content, as are things like exploring or romances. A player who doesn't do romances is missing out on content. It is their prerogative to do so, and of course some types of content may not be pleasant for them to play through, so they simply do not(I'm probably lazy enough to do "exploration" content with a guide).

*Sigh*

MP 'content', if we can call it that, has no effect on the actual game. That I do not battle other people in Pokémon or TW, or engage in re-hashed co-op missions does not mean I'm missing out on the actual content of the game: story, quests, character development, world conquest, whatever.

If you choose to skip romances or exploration, you are choosing to miss out on actual game content. Which is fine; I hate exploration and pretty consistently skip it. If you choose to avoid MP, all you're missing out on is the maps from SP being played out with four players instead of one.

EDIT: and again: DEATH TO MP

I just (finally) saw the MP vid on IGN. First off, grats, OP. Points for persistence and all that. lol

Second, multiplayer looks really fun. I might actually play it at this rate. I never touched the ME3 stuff, but sword and magic is my mmo of choice. Might like the MP, too.  Only deciding factor is whether we'll have to pay extra for it. I assume so. So I'm still on the fence.

Grats to those who were hoping for it, though! :)

You're defining what is and what isn't content by your preferences. If multiplayer and gameplay were not content, Titanfall would be a content-less game.

Although, to be fair, people do this all the time. Used to see it happen all the time in SWTOR forums, but eventually PvPers were convinced that operations were in fact a type of content, and PvErs were convinced that warzones were also a type of content.

Titanfall *is* a content-less game. As are ninety-percent of all MMO's.

Bringing pretty pictures and cheap gameplay in does not a game make.

No, that is a completely wrong way to go with MP. People who bought a mostly SP game should not be punished if they don't play the MP aspect. I would be totally irate if this was the case and I was losing out on content from the SP campaign. This also would affect those without the means to play online with others.

...of course this so dead wrong. I know the SP zealots keep saying this and it has become a mantra but sadly not true. You aren't being punished someone else is being rewarded. Do you think Senior Citizen discounts are punishing you for not being old? Have a philosophical issue with Teacher Discounts since you are punished with full price? I won't even go into Happy Hour......the horror! Additional content is just that, additional, it isn't a punishment for you but a reward for the MP players. Players BTW, who are much more valuable than you since they can be monetized via the microtransactions so it seems like they should get a little lagniappe for their efforts.

Plenty of parts of the game might not appeal to all players - exploration and crafting are things I hate. Am I "punished" by missing out on items and XP because I chose to do the bare minimum in those areas to get by or are you rewarded for doing boring things?

So the "actual game" is whatever falconlord5 likes? You seem to be embracing Vandicus' point rather than disagreeing with it.

I swear to pizza, it's like pulling teeth with you guys...

I mean, you'd think the DEATH TO MP would clue you in that I'm less than objective about the subject, but apparently not.

And skipping out on re-hashed SP content does not mean I'm missing out on content.

I would have liked if we could just use our SP hero or build a MP specific hero.

Full talent trees of SP, full character creation (face/race). Missed opportunity imo.

Boooo.  This multiplaying is not to my liking.  I want something like a survival type multiplayer online in a large open world to roam around in.  Find new places.  Collect items and resources.  Buy or build a home in location of your choices.  Go out and battle the baddies with your mates/companions and keep the baddies from over taking your world.  If you don't keep your baddies in their places you will lose your home.  I preferred something like that.  A survival type multiplayer.  It would be like a place to visit and kinda like retirement for my character after finishing the SP in DAI.  I just want a place I can live in.  Like a Minecraft DAI world.

The tweets outright confirm that MP will impact SP (though not necessarily at release).

Is it me or are the graphics horrendous in MP?

The SP demos we have seen have been pretty swell.

Actually later tweets indicated they were talking about future games, not necessarily dlc or patches for DAI itself.

I think it's IGN's video service. It never seems to give me as good quality as other sites.

What I'm not missing are parts of the SP campaign that could only be unlocked via MP. There's a huge difference between this scenario, and choosing not to play MP. In the latter case, I am choosing to lock myself out of content, that's nobody's fault but my own, in the former case, the developer is locking me out of content because I didn't play MP. If it had gone down that way, here's one sale they wouldn't have had. Just say no to repeats of similar circumstances to ME 3's Galactic Readiness, which is what they have done; they elected to not lock people out of stuff in the SP campaign because they can't or don't want to play MP. The reward for MP is what everyone was harping on: the ability to play online in the DA setting with other people.

I know that multiplayer was obviously forced on DA becuase EA strikes again, but from what I've seen and read, this sounds pretty awesome! It's exactly the incentive I needed to get more of my real life friends into DA at all. Whether people like to admit it or not, mainstream gamers like games with multiplayer and something like a 30minute dungeon crawl investing in a character of our choosing that we level up with skill trees and find equipment for. It vaguely reminds me of a MOBA in the sense we can choose "champions" to play and grow upon for half hour bursts with friends. And the devs have explicitly stated that the MP will have absolutely zero effect on the Single Player mode so just ignore it if you truly hate it.

And I'm of the opinion that even though people think "Oh, the assets put into MP could've been put to more use to make SP better" Is a copout argument because honestly, nobody has any idea what assets could've been better used with what they had than the developers. I'm not trying to be a Biodrone, but MP is shaping out to look really awesome and addicting and would be a nice break from exploring the world of Thedas by myself. Plus like I said, incentive to get more of my friends into DA *i'm the only one in my real life friend group who even cares what DA is :( * So yeah, definitely looking forward to what more this game has in store.

1: What does "D A M P" stand for? Sorry for noob question... Edit: NEVERMIND. I'm stupid.

2: What I really want to know is how extensive the character appearance customization is going to be. I saw player characters in the trailer without helmets at all (which is how ME3 was able to do things simply), so I'm wondering how much aside from the armor we can control the look of the "head." This is probably going to be the deciding factor in how much I play the multiplayer aspect, if at all.

3: While they said the two campaigns don't affect each other inventory-wise, perhaps the single-player campaign could benefit from an "achievements" system, whereby slightly different cosmetic crafting looks are unlocked by completing certain objectives in the multiplayer. Not anything stat-superior mind, but stuff that just affects the appearance of your gear.

That last bit is just my opinion, however. I wouldn't trust EA not to screw it up.

I like stuff like that. Stuff where the game goes "oh you did really well in that last encounter, here have a new skin for your mount or here have a new throne design for skyhold"

Cosmetics FTW!!

2. I don't know if there will even be that much character customization concerning their heads considering that these characters are meant to be their own "npcs" like minifollowers with small plots and backgrounds but they still have banter, so if at all, I hope there will be some customization options aside from armor but I doubt it, but I don't mind at the same time.

3. As much as I'd love this, something even as small as this would be whined and vomitted upon people who don't care for MP and crying "Wow, MP has such an effect on SP" and what not, and I'm sure bioware would like to avoid any sort of action like that.
