Do all the mods on weapons carried by a character will apply all their effects--say, more melee damage from shotgun omni blade and extra power damage from pistol power amp--or is it only from the mods that the character currently uses?

Say for example, I carry a shotgun with omni blade and a pistol with power amp for my Shadow. Should I switch to Shotgun whenever I Shadow Strike and to Pistol for Electric Slash?

If all the effects are applied, do they stack? Example Pistol's stunner and Shotgun's Omni blade.

Curious about this, thanks for the answer.

Weapon effects only apply to the weapon currently in use.  If you are carrying two, then it's the weapon you are carrying at the moment.  I usually only carry one weapon; not sure it's efficient to be switching around just for the weapon mod boost?

The weapon will apply itself once the current weapon that is modded with that particular weapon is equipped. There is no stacking. Let's say, if I brought an SMG and a Pistol and both have power amplifiers on them, only one power amp will apply at one time. One can only be active at a time, and that is the currently equipped weapon applied with that weapon mod.

Ah I see. So damage wise in my Shadow scenario above it would be better to switch. Thanks for the answer.

Yes, the shotgun Omni-blade is better for the Shadow Strike besides the Power Amp since the Electric Slash will only benefit from the Power Amp and not the SG omni-blade.

Your question has been answered, but I can't imagine switching weapons on a regular basis like you're planning on doing.

Keep in mind that shadow strike is boosted by both melee and power amps. So pistol with melee stunner and power amp isn't a bad choice if you use a lot of ES.

I do prefer shotgun with omni blade, I don't ES much.

This is a prime example of min-maxing gone horribly wrong. I hope it's a purely theoretical question to satisfy curiosity, nothing else.

A bit off topic, but I really wouldn't recommend to stick more than one weapon on a power based class like the Shadow. Power Recharge Speed should stay above 150%.

Falcon + Omniblade + Geth Scanner + priming ammo (preferrably IA) makes ES very useful, without sacrificing too much SS damage.

By far my favorite weapon on her, I feel crowd control beats single target damage in 9 out of 10 cases and the Falcons stun is especially useful if you SS into a nasty surprise.

As for boosting SS, (Talon) + Melee Stunner + Pistol Power Magnifier + Strength Enhancer + Power Amplifier Module + Hydraulic Joints will deal insane single target damage.

That would only apply for a Melee/Shadow Strike N7 Shadow, and not as the class overall. She is either a weapon/melee/power. Can be mixed around. I play Sniper with her, and so, my cooldowns are in the negatives.

She's an Infiltrator... power recharge means squat.

She's an infiltrator, you can put Typhoon and Crusader on her and do just fine. In fact, you'll probably do much, much better than with Falcon.

Have fun taking out Atlases with that setup. And sorry, but crowd control never beats actually killing the enemies.

Don't get me wrong, there aren't right and wrong ways to play, but spamming ES instead of bringing decent weapons is a stupid way to play.

A Shadow who takes TC's bonus power evo so she can use SS twice each cloak cycle, does care about cooldown.

This. I take bonus power on TC and she's the only infiltrator where I'd like to have as light a loadout as possible.

It's worth pointing out that the "weight means nothing to Infiltrators" is not entirely accurate.

Yes, they care less about weight than the majority of kits in the game. That does not mean that running -200% weight has absolutely no down sides. TC's cooldown is calculated based on the % of the duration you've used up from the moment you take an action that would break the cloak. At -200% recharge with recharge evo at rank 5, that's only ~0.6 seconds before you're going above the 3 second minimum cooldown.

That said, you're typically perfectly fine with running one of the heavyweight weapons in the game such as the Crusader or Claymore.

Also as Fortack mentioned, a dual SS Shadow does care a lot more about weight and needs to be able to Shadow Strike twice in a single Tactical Cloak duration, which is going to use up the majority of the duration and get you near maximum cooldown.

Not to mention that someone who wants the full 80% damage boost from Tactical Cloak to use with their Shadow Strike need an almost 200% cool down bonus since they need to chain both Shadow Strikes right after one another. That's what I always did with my Shadow.

Or if you panic fire a power to make an enemy stagger/dodge. Or during Escorts. Weight is never completely inconsequential on Infiltrators.

Yes, weight matters to a degree even on infiltrators, I've never denied that. I was simply taking exception to the claim that Shadow is a "power based class" on which the recharge speed "should stay above 150%".

Shadow isn't any more power-based than, say, vanilla human soldier. Sure, you can focus on your powers instead of weapons, but that's true for almost every kit in the game. And while fast power recharge is indeed important if you want to go the double-SS route, that's hardly the only way to play the kit. And while SS is really nice for taking out Phantoms and Turrets and such, zipping around the map SSing everything in sight isn't particularly efficient way to kill the enemies (frankly I think that's boring, but... yeah, well, you know... that's just like... my opinion, man).

Like I said, she can do fine with a really heavy loadout. I'm not saying she should have a really heavy loadout. Just bring a good weapon. IMO a lot of people are spending way too much effort on getting the every shred of damage out of her SS and/or ES, ignoring every other aspect of the kit or gameplay in general.

You could, but I like taking advantage of the somewhat uniqueness of the N7 Shadow considering how little variety there is in the Infiltrator class. They can all do the weapon build of "Cloak -> Shoot -> Repeat Forever" and the Shadow is one of the weakest for doing that within the Infiltrator class(even if that is like winning bronze in the Olympics). Beyond that, there isn't really much else for the Shadow to do.

I would actually make the argument that at this point, any kit in the game can do just fine with a really heavy loadout(not necessarily optimal, but still do fine). Guns have become so absurdly powerful that they can completely replace powers for any kit.

I was just making note of some of the specifics about how recharge speed and Tactical Cloak interact. Especially since it was mentioned that "power recharge means squat" and a lot of BSNers like pretending that weight is completely meaningless to Infiltrators =P

I'd assume ULM is one that work on both the weapon you're holding at the time and your backup for an overall cooldown % calculated before the match even starts.

Just train yourself to cloak before using any power. Since cloak has no activation animation, the only time you lose by doing this is the time it takes to reach from key 1 to key x on the keyboard. Hardly relevant at all.

And during escorts you can just spam cloak without problems. Given that the drone's progress is calculated in steps, and not continuously, so long as you decloak right after you cloaked you're not likely to affect the speed of the escort in any way.

SS is indeed boosted by power amps.  However, power amps are additive whereas the melee mods are multiplicative.  The shotgun Omniblade is better as an extra 25% multiplier is better than an additive 50%.
