So we all know mages can't be near raw lyrium as it outright kills them but once it's processed it becomes an incredibly useful item, capable of fuelling powerful spells/rituals. Do you think it might be possible that at some point one ambitious Magister will try to get the Dwarves to start processing red lyrium. If successful it could be a far more potent form but we've already seen the side affects.

Going by some screenshot for DAI, Red Lyrium is everywhere on the surface and used by the bad guys (Venatori and Red Templars)...

So far, red lyrium seems to have be little more than a poorly justified plot device. It's supposed to be so much rarer and more powerful than standard lyrium but then... why is it so common amongst the Templars now and why does it do little more than turn them into mindless monsters for us to kill without any guilt or shame?

Really, there's no logic behind it. It's just a "turn-this-faction-irredeemably-evil" switch, just like Reaper technology was in Mass Effect.

Perhaps someone is supplying the red lyrium
