I won't know till I actually play the game, I find that pre-planning can be good and bad. I usually find myself going the diplomatic route, but not bending over backwards for a side quest. So, a good leader with a kind heart but willing to make hard decisions and being able to say No.

You know what they say in upper management; It's lonely at the top.
I feel like my charter needs to seize power, and break those who get I'm my way. A lot if ruthlessness is called for. That doesn't mean there won't be moments when I'm sympathetic to others, and heroic.

<something like this, plus I could not help but make the reference lol (green power ring and glowing hand scar) Basically I want to stand for justice and avenge those that were killed in the blast, and the countless after. I will "try" to be a paragon type of leader, but more then likely i will be kind of a Dr jeckyll and Mr. Hide kind of leader, in the sense that I can be forgiving and merciful and while at other times I will be ruthless and cold.

"You burn the present for a brighter future, then act surprised when all it holds is ash."
Lazlo will act as best he can for the greater good, but he won't turn a blind eye to someone in need right in front of him. His goal each day is to save everyone he possibly can, even those who count themselves his enemies. He will try to manipulate events however he needs to in order to achieve that outcome. He will never betray a friend, no matter how advantageous doing so might seem.

So there is a thread asking what type of character will you be playing upon the games release which mainly pertained to the player's class and race but my question for this thread is what type of leader will you be for the Inquisition?
Will you place the safety of your men above those of the common man to keep your forces strong?
Will you risk life a limb for every soul you encounter?
Will you be merciful or will you be pragmatic and ruthless if it mean achieving victory over your foes
It's hard to say right now, before game release. I will try to save as many common man as I will be able to, but if I will have to decide i.e between group of my troops/spies and a village...well I have war to win and I will needs the soldiers. About foes usually I don't want to have my enemies behind my back, so if I will not have place to lock them in some dark hole for the rest of the game, I will end the problem with my sword/dagger etc.

My canon play through will be as a pragmatic Dalish rogue. Honor and compassion are great things, but the most important thing is to close the D*** breach. And, to paraphrase Merril - she is pretty sure it's the humans' fault.

I'm planning on my first Inquisitor being a pissed off female Qunari mage who is utterly devoted to closing the breach. Everything else is secondary and important only as it relates to the breach, even the Mage/Templar war. She's not going to care about your past, or your future, just if you're on the team.

Good and Fair. Willing to help those in need. Unless it happens to be a mage, then I will slit their throat, or be as cruel as possible to them. I hate mages! Sodding whiny little pansies, the whole lot of them.

"You burn the present for a brighter future, then act surprised when all it holds is ash."
I see your Quote and raise you another:
"He would burn the Kingdom to the Ground as long as he could rule over the Ashes."
Isn't about Stannis, though. But from the same Universe.

I like to think i can get two sides of a conflict to reconcile and fight with me, i mean really you're gonna keep fighting against each other when demons are destroying your fighters at a faster rate than the war is? If i have to thin their ranks a little to get this point across then so be it. However, from what i understand is that we will have to choose a side of the mage v templar war and eradicate one side and absorb the other into the inquisition. That really is disappointing as im tired of choosing one side or the other when both sides should look at the bigger picture. So im going to try and get as many people on my side as possible, usually by playing nice, but im not afraid to bash in the skulls of some idiots to make them see reason.

I will try to be as fair as I can but I will be selfish when it comes to my companions (as in companions > everyone else).

Want to side with demons, but RPG games rarely give us oportunity to support evil, or being evil from the start.
I'm just tired of being good dude who save kittens and kill rats in grandma cute house.
Vilains - most of time, cunning, charismatic individuals with their own reasons and deep history.
My last wish to play someone like Maleficent, someone who is not totaly evil, but was betrayed or have a sad past, and do evil things because think it is what need to be done for now, or forced to do such a things. And may be later someone can warm cold black heart, or my vilian could die knowing no one can forse him / her to change mind.

I am thinking about bringing some change because change is sometimes necessary. But i prefer order. It is more...predictable.

Practicality is king. How strict i am will depend on exactly how dire the situation is. If i have to run around left, right and center closing tears while sending my armies to squish every little warlord wannabe that pops up then i will be expedient and merciless. If the situation allows time for diplomacy then i will use it simply to conserve troops.

I have 3 very different characters planned so they will be different leaders: Skye, Valpur and Tamarin.
Will you place the safety of your men above those of the common man to keep your forces strong? - Skye and Valpur will place safety of civils first. Tamarin his own troops.
Will you risk life a limb for every soul you encounter? -Skye will, Valpur with certain conditions and Tamarin looks his own benefit so no.
Will you be merciful or will you be pragmatic and ruthless if it mean achieving victory over your foes? -Skye will be merciful to point of naivety, Valpur is both pragmatic and merciful and Tamarin can be pretty ruthless (he's not very pragmatic though).

That will depend on the playthrough.
My human male will be the 'get acquainted with the game' guy, so he's going to make lots of mistakes. Basically: 'Noob with no idea what he's doing' type of leader.
My human female will be my 'fair and just' leader, trying to do what's best for everyone and probably dooming the world in the process. An idealist type of leader.
Anything else I play after that will be either a complete jackass for the heck of it or trying to be as efficient as possible. There could be some override there. We'll see.

-He'll make the inquisition a strong faction but also work to make it an independant one, if the game allows it. Not out of spite of the Chantry or any country, but because he feels that in order to perform my job that he can't have the worry of politically displeasing someone. I want the option to step on some toes if my characters feel the need for it.
-He'll fight his foes until they have the good sense to yield, if they are the yielding type. My first inquisitor will be head canonically the son of a former Ben-Hassrath mother, he was raised to not believe in wasting a potential resource, however he may loathe said resource. So whenever there is the chance of siring a former enemy to fight for his cause, he'll take it.
-He'll accept that he can't save everyone, he'll help/save those he can as long as it doesn't foolishly jeopardizes the safety of the men and women under his command, he won't launch suicide rescue missions.
-Probably he'll end up having the same trait that all my characters always have in common: he'll accept the burden of leadership early on. Sure, it's definetely not the life he had planned or that he wished to have, but it's the life he has now and wishing otherwise will only cause unnecessary pain (damn your influence Wynne
