Why would he be interested in arguing a two-month forgotten difference of opinion? This post was dead, gone and consigned to the garbage bin of "not page 1" until it was dragged back out for no real reason.

Then why did he came back if it was a two-month forgotten argument ? just to say "you're ridiculous" ?

Because it's ridiculous?

Because it ended up back on page 1, obviously. And because someone liked a post of a topic I didn't even remember posting in.

I thought it was just a sense of de ja vu, since Lobsel's been using the same arguments and making the same sorts of threads for a few years now, until I say some of my own posts. Then I looked at the date of the posts, and was curious as to who would bother necroing a thread and why, then bam. There was Lobsel. Kid's obsessed with the topic, but I'd never seen him resort to thread necromancy just becuase he didn't have the last word before.

Pathetic, actually. In the first form of the Merriam-Webster dictionary, of 'having a capacity to move one to either compassionate or contemptuous pity.'

I wonder what happens to elves in the Dalish community that lose faith in the Dalish religion and convert to another religion or become atheists.

You would be better served not attempting to make claims about my intentions or pretending as though you have any degree of insight into my character, given that we're addressing how you claimed that the Dalish were comparable to the Taliban, and I think most would find that initial claim ludicrous enough to warrant a response.

Pathetic, actually. In the first form of the Merriam-Webster dictionary, of 'having a capacity to move one to either compassionate or contemptuous pity.'

I find it disappointing that instead of addressing any points I brought up, you've instead decided to transparently bait me, since you substituted any effort at constructing arguments by tossing around petty insults.

Oh look, a Dalish thread is infested with Dalish-bashing trolls that disrupt constructive discussions and derail the thread with meaningless chatter while the mods do absolutely nothing.

Honestly I'm seeing more surprise at the necromancy of a months old thread than out and out trolling.

This topic was started by Mister JB and it was mostly distrustful of the Dalish than anything.  You most likely associate him with "Dalish-bashing trolls", and you're ignoring that any discussion died a while ago.  If you would like to make a topic about the Dalish, please do; a fresh start would be much preferred than dealing with what's going on here. :)

Lobsel... let it go. You're embarrassing yourself.

It's not an important conversation. It was never an important conversation. It was never even an important topic, and your attempted rebuttal even less so.

As charming as it is that you felt compelled to revisit a dead thread on your favorite topic lest you alone remember that someone disagreed last... it's not charming at all. It's mis-aimed, misused, and more than a little obsessive to the point of being creepy. Even without missing the basis of the Taliban comparison, which rendered a great deal of passion on your part moot, because no one else cares.

If you wanted to somehow continue this line of discussion at such a belated date, you should simply have PM'd me and requested to pursue it privately. That would have been something respectable, rather than pathetic, and I would have given you the courtesy such an action warrants. Sure, it wouldn't have resolved anything between us... but then, that's not what this necro was about, was it?

It was about you, and putting on a show of theater to disprove such a unsightly thing such as comparing xenophobic religiously homogenous tribals willing to condone racial murder over cultural ethnocentricism with... well, xenophobic religiously homogenous tribals willing to condone racial murder over cultural ethnocentricism. But hey, modern buzzwords. Bad! Enter the White Knight, the defender of the unfairly compared oppressed!

Except... no one else cared. No one else cares. They did't care about about a two-month gone topic. They did't care about an unflattering comparison. They didn't even remember until you brought it up again... and they aren't going to remember it a week after this dips off of the front page again.

Resurrecting the topic wasn't going to change anyone's minds on this topic. A two-month late attempt at a counter-argument isn't going to awe anyone into agreeing with you. The people with the intelligence to appreciate an argument that they don't already agree with are going to be intelligent enough to spot your logical errors, recognize your historic tenacity on this topic, and write it off as yet another expression Lobsel's thing with the elves. Those less inclined to analyze to that degree will see, hey, two month necro, that kid's obsessed. And the people who agree with you... well, they already agree with you. No change.

It wasn't going to change the views on the topic. Necroing the thread could give you the pleasure of the last word. It's almost certainly given you some sympathy from people who already disliked me, or who took offense of my incredulous contempt that you did this. Consider those new fans a freebie- you're welcome to them, but as a word of advice don't expect them to stick if they didn't already sympathize with your position. But past the self-satisfaction of being the virtuous defender of the Dalish and the sympathy of being mocked... there was no real point to resurrecting this thread.

You may have realized that in advance, and chose to go forward with it in the knowledge of the possible results. Or you may not have, and did it out of ignorance of how little anyone else cared and out of devotion to your pet topic. Either path to your personal sense of validation elicits pity.

And that, by definition, is pathetic.

If no one cares about LobselVith's opinion on this Dalish argument, why are they likely to care more about your screed on his alleged personal failings? There's no logical reason to not have this be a PM if you truly feel he needs to know, unless you, in fact, also have a desperate urge to have the last word.

They don't do anything because disagreeing with someone in a non-constructive discussion about a non-issue that's been repeated ad-nauseam isn't trolling.

Any constructive criticism or random "negative" remarks are considered trolling. Unless you shower them with grandiose words of how better than everyone they are or how bad they have it because humans, then you're against them and a troll.

Oh these poor Dalish, not even on the internet can they get a break from being harassed.

I don't see comparing the Dalish to the Taliban as "constructive criticism". However, I addressed every point that was brought up to explain why I felt the comparison was invalid. And the response to this was snide remarks and petty insults.

You also seem to be confusing this specific conversation with how some people address that recent elven threads have gotten hijacked with off-topic commentary from people who dislike the elves, like the thread that was mean to discuss the hypothetical prospects of an elven homeland veering off into off-topic commentary about how some people hated the elves... which had nothing to do with the actual topic at hand. No need to make a disparaging comments about people who are interested in civilly speaking about topics that interest them as fans of this franchise.

True enough. Couldn't we talk about Dalish foklore, for once? I'm a bit surprised (and disappointed) that this thread was resurrected to talk about the "necro-debate" again, instead of talking about the new elven names we have:

-Valya for the female Dalish Inquisitor. Many will notice that it's the same as the name of the protagonist of Last Flight, an elven mage that joins the Grey Wardens. It sounds similar to tha case of Neria being used for the default female elf mage in DA:O and the Keeper character in DA:I multiplayer. It means that there are some names that are common among elves, City or Dalish.

-Istimaethoriel (that sounds lenghty) for the Keeper of the Lavellan Clan. Also, according to the letter sent to the Inquisition, it seems that they do use their clan's name as the family name. Makes sense, like the gens.
