I was just thinking that when the Keep comes out, I would purposefully choose a side in the Mage-Templar war I wouldn't usually do, just so I could oppose Hawke. A prominent antagonist like that to the inquisition's goals is super interesting to me. Whether the mages have a badass fighter like him/her on their side or one of the biggest targets on their hit list. Have you guys thought about this, or do you want all your protagonists to be on the same side.
Opposing Hawke

My protag's would never be opposed, personally I liked Hawke slightly more then The Warden(being a silent person always niggled me made The Warden seem a bit Wooden y'know).
Even My Mage Hawke's sided with the templar's in the end, after what Anders did

I intend to see how it goes, and I intend to set up worlds that have different states in them. If that means my Hawke falls out on the wrong side of history, so be it. Most of my Hawkes tend to side with the mages, but I was playing one that was going to side with the Templars. We'll just have to see ...

Usually when it comes down to it, everything gets decided in the last minute. So when I've got my hands on the game, I'll know for sure. But they'll probably be on the same side.

I could never oppose Hawke. Between his brother/sister dying and Leandra being murdered, that poor bastard has been through enough already.
In my head canon, he will spend the rest of his days on a beach relaxing with Merrill.

No, my protagonists will not be enemies. Unless something happens that directly makes them an enemy but I seriously doubt it.

The only downside I'm seeing is that Varric might have a slight bias towards whatever side Hawke chose and might not like what I'm going to do

I'd prefer Hawke just stay disappeared.

Uh Anders had nothing to do with the mages you could choose the mages and still execute Anders. I didn't because I think he deserves worse than simple execution and wanted Sebastian to leave, I don't like idealists very much and how he always talked about justice when he just wanted revenge. Good riddance. My protag's would never be opposed, personally I liked Hawke slightly more then The Warden(being a silent person always niggled me made The Warden seem a bit Wooden y'know).

Basically what I did in every playthrough, You can disagree with someone all you want but outright killing innocent people is never a solution

Majority of my play thru's were executing Anders, either side of the conflict. Only twice kept him. Murdering innocents wasn't necessary.
I wouldn't oppose Hawke either.

Stabbing Anders, best part of DA2.

RE:Murdering Anders, was I the only guy who didn't do it?
Mostly due to needing a healer, but I usually don't kill my team members either....plus it got rid of Sebastien.

I didn't either. Really, there's no need.

I am SERIOUSLY conflicted on the subject. I don't want to kill him and make him a martyr to the cause (much as I agree with his philosophy, just not quite so pleased about his timing or the fact that there's some serious collateral damage doing it here and now) but I also find many of my Hawkes are, in that moment, overcome with anger and end up killing him specifically because he's done this terrible deed and NEEDS some kind of punishment, and death is the only option available - if he's told to run, he just ends up joining up with the Circle mages anyway.
It's a choice I have to think about every time I get there, and I kinda like it that way.

I don't care for Hawke much, but I could never oppose him because Varric would probably take his old bro over his boss.

I can't picture Hawke fighting the Inquisitor.
Mostly because I keep picturing Hawke being best friends with the Warden and the Inquisitor.

This
But I'm also curious about Bethany if she joined the Circle. Is she going to be fighting with the other mages?
Oh god, what if she's going to be at the peace summit. My Hawke pretty much sided with the mages just so he could personally protect his sister. I don't think he's going to take it well if his sis lived through Kirkwall just to die later.

Didn't kill him either mostly though to get rid of Sebastian and his annoying faux justice blabber. I wish I could have screamed at him that if you are out for blood it's petty revenge not justice.

I used to kill him every time.
Now I rival him all the way, then make him help me annul the Circle.

To be honest, I'd kind of prefer it if Hawke doesn't get directly involved in the mage templar conflict. Same goes for Bethany and Carver. Saving Bethany was the only thing that made the whole experience of DA 2 worth it in my main Hawke's story. I'd kind of prefer she be safely off to the side while the Inquisitor concludes the war.

things have changed considerably since da2, so im assuming the circumstances we had in kirkwall for da2 will be much different now that the war has escalated.
as for opposing hawke, my hawke played both sides up until the last mission. You cant really oppose someone who is on both sides, but if possible, i would like to follow the same route and push for peace between the 2 as much as possible (until they make you pick one or the other). If hawke had been directly involved in the process, like being a mage of the circle in kirkwall or being a templar, i could see the justification on one side or the other... but looking from the outside in just made me view with a little more common sense. It boiled down to a he said she said kind of thing and the whole thing if looking at it with a clear mind should have been a lets all agree to disagree and tell them to go sit in the corners unless they want a fist full of champion.

All my characters so far have been rather neutral about mage vs templar debate. Some doesn't just care and some want compromise. In other hand they have different kind of approaches and would totally clash if they met each other ^^; Actually idea of fighting against my Hawke or Warden in the DAI doesn't sound bad for me at all, I'd be sad if they died but otherwise it'd be cool.

Not at all. My apostate Champion didn't kill Anders. He recruited him to help protect the mages from Meredith's Right of Annulment, and Anders even told him my protagonist that he truly was the leader who mages had waited centuries for. I'd like to think that, afterwards, Anders went to the kingdom of Rivain to gain a better understand of his symbiosis with Justice from the seers.
If my Champion and Merrill are leading mages and elves against the Chantry and the templars (given his involvement with the mage underground and his stance that the templars needed to be "overthrown"), I doubt my Dalish Inquisitor would oppose them.

Why would Hawke oppose the Inquisitor? He'd be like...
"No thanks, I'd rather rob some merchant ships or 'duel' Isabela on a beach somewhere. Maybe drink myself blind or conquer a small kingdom in Antiva. Then there's the old favorite of conjuring mabari manure into Carver's boots. That one never gets old. No more ancient evils and power-mad politicians with freakish abilities for me though. I've heard the Hero of Ferelden is in Orlais with Morrigan. Go fight him."
