I never played Hawke, so I don't care.
I'm thinking of clicking a "Mage Hawke who sided with Mages" history button, so I doubt they'll be on different sides.
Stabbing Anders was pretty unsatisfying for me. It didn't really feel like I gave him quite what he deserved and Hawke never really expresses any emotion when he or she does it. Tell him to leave and then siding with the mages, actually feels like the scene where Hawke is most able to spit his contempt at him.
Well, my main Warden was a bit of a selfless hero that did everything to save Ferelden while surrendering as little moral ground as possible. Then my main Hawke, she was a completely vicious and self-serving cow who had gone through so much that she was little more than a sociopath in the end.
My Inquisitor will probably be a dutiful soldier somewhere in the middle ground, I don't know. That might put her - or maybe him - at odds with my Hawke? Who knows.
I'd prefer Hawke just stay disappeared.
I'd prefer closure for the Warden and Hawke. Bioware is the one that keeps dragging them back in and now they're currently MIA for whatever reason. It would be highly OOC for their friends, and those that met and worked closely with them, not to be concerned about the Warden and/or Hawke and wanting to find them.

Yeah, I was really annoyed that a Hawke that romanced Anders didn't show sadness or even rage over what Anders did. The lack of emotion really hurt the scene.
How are they supposed to be given closure? Both are prominent figures that'd get drawn into action no matter what they wanted. Hawke on Isabelas ship is probably the closest to being low profile s/he could accomplish.I'd prefer closure for the Warden and Hawke. With the Warden it's even worse as s/he is bound through the taint.
Simple, give them an ending that puts an end to their chapter completely. As of right now neither have closure because Bioware has dragged them off somewhere else and continues to bring back those that know and possibly have strong emotional connections to them. Furthermore, they're MIA under mysterious reasons, no matter what you did, and I highly doubt that Leliana wouldn't ask Hawke's LI, if Hawke has one still, about Hawke's whereabouts. Varric also didn't seem all that happy about not knowing where Hawke is either.
This is especially telling that even if the Warden romanced Leliana they're still MIA and nowhere to be found. That's troubling and it isn't a coincidence that the Warden and Hawke are suddenly MIA when they're needed most and hopefully this is addressed in DAI.
