Hey guys! There's definitely not enough cosplay love on the forums yet, so let's fix that! Origins, II, Inquisition, anything is fair game. Discuss tricks, tips, details, ask questions, share your in progress costumes, share your finished costumes, share other people's costumes!

I've only done one Dragon Age costume (Hawke's Rouge Champion) thus far, but I'm already planning two more (Orsino, because he is fabulous, plus the Staff of Violation just looks way too fun to make) / Leiliana's Inquisition version (keeping fingers crossed her character kit gets released soon) )

Anyone else planning some Dragon Age costumes? Show it off, DA cosplay is a beautiful, challenging, rewarding endeavor! :D

fantastic job! You look great!

Orsino would be awesome too, hope you do it.

Working on two - Cassandra for myself and Varric for the bf. Having trouble finding the right jacket for Varric. Hope to have done before the year is out. Will share pics once competed.

Very surprised to see there wasn't a thread already for this, there's so much cosplay love at the Bioware Bases at conventions!

This is my only Dragon Age costume so far - Warden (or Hawke, if I do my hair differently and let the face scruff grow out :P) Regalia of Weisshaupt, Rogue version. The sword is Vigilance. Yay, Vigilance!

There are hundreds of hand-fastened machine-pressed aluminum shield scales, and I was seeing them in my nightmares for weeks after finishing construction.

Something tells me I'll be cosplaying from Inquisition soon!

Awesome!

Working on my Grey warden cosplay (Regalia of Weisshaupt), but it will not be done until around September.

But I've managed to get some of the parts done and out of the way, but I haven't gotten around to posting/crappy phone photographing the others yet.

And then the studs.

My gawd....

This is my Mage Inquisitor that I debuted at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con last month. The first two pictures were taken by the amazing Jessica Merizan, whom it was freaking awesome to meet in person! After the con I finished up a staff to go along with it, but just haven't gotten around to taking any pictures yet.

Oh man, all of you guys look fantastic!

I never want to make leather straps ever again!

What did you make the straps out of?  Are they actual leather?

I'm working on a costume for Sera, but since it will be my second cosplay ever, and my first time attempting armor, I'm nervous.  So much left to do!

*A* Everyone's progress and/or completed costumes look so great!

There are a few straps here and there that are leftover actual leather from another costume, but the majority of them actually are pleather or upholstery vinyl, my bad, leather strap was a misleading term! The dark brown straps are all vinyl, and I really should have invested in a teflon foot for my sewing machine - a mistake I won't repeat next time (it was so hard to sew them straight since the vinyl stuck to the bottom of the regular foot).

Sera's costume is so adorable, armor is super fun to make once you get the hang of it! :D

Looking good so far! I'm always interested to see the different ways people go about tackling the Regalia of Weisshaupt armor pieces. Post more progress when you get a chance! :D

Yes the studs. Guh, all those studs...

I will!

I'm excited because it's the first time I've worked with Worbla to this extent.

You all look great! :D

For the moment I have just cosplayed as Flemeth, but I'd love to do more Dragon Age costumes. i love Leliana outfit from the promo art and I'd also love to cosplay as my first warden (a female Surana) with the tevinter mage robes. I hope I find time to do it soon.

Anyway, this is my Flemeth! (the wig was such a pain!!!)

Speaking of Dragon Age cosplay at cons, is anyone going to be at DragonCon next month?

Nah. Too far and I can't get the time off, unfortunately. :/

But I will be at the local ones in the fall and early/late spring if you find yourself in the Virginia area.

Sorry to sort of necro this topic, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a post of tutorials for making armor (or should it be in it's own thread?). I'm obviously new.

I know armor a big hangup for a lot of cosplayers because it can seem quite daunting. I recently decided to take the plunge and I found it wasn't so bad as long as you give yourself time and watch a lot of tutorials.

Here's what I was able to make!

Spoiler

The staff is a stand in because I didn't give myself enough time to make it properly. Oops... Also I'm going to repaint the armor to be more silver.

Does anyone have plans to cosplay from Inquisition? :)

Sure do! Very very interested in Sera the Wildcard :)
On a side note I might be the only one but I'm excited how humanlike the characters in Inquisition are. They're not barbie-pretty picture-perfect as people usually are in the games. Of course that is what everybody wants because "come on it's fantasy" but I find it so exciting that the characters look very natural, therefore I find them very inviting for cosplay :)

I agree. It's a lot easier to cosplay characters who have looks that are a bit more attainable for the average person. Don't get me wrong I like looking at really pretty characters, too. It's nice to see variety. :)

if you google "cosplayers in wheelchairs" you'll see that there's a lot of people who have done it! personally, i think if you're so inclined, you should try it and see how you feel, maybe find some friends to try it with you and get a group together (imo, cosplay is always more fun in a group).  :)

Cosplay is for every single person in the world, no exceptions :D It's all about love above all else, and it's something I genuinely feel that everyone should be included in. No matter your shape, size, background, abilities, dressing up as your favourite character is for anyone <3 You should definitely try it, something like "accuracy" is such a secondary thing, the most important aspect of making/wearing a costume is love and enthusiasm
