Elves have city and dalish origin,

Dwarves have noble and commoner origin,

but human only has one origin, noble.

Granted, mage origin can have human, but elves can also be mages.

I'm just wondering why there isn't seventh and extra origin that is human exclusive

I thought I remembered a human barbarian (Chasind?) planned at one point, as well. It's been a while, that might not be correct on my part.

They intended to do an Avvar barbarian origin, but it got cut because it required too many resources.

Avvar, I think, not Chasind. And the other non-noble, non-mage human origin that was considered was a farmer from Redcliffe, IIRC. (Sorry, I cannae find the cite for that info in my bookmarks.)

You are right on both counts. The other planned human origins were an Avvar barbarian and a farmer from Redcliffe. IIRC the Avvar barbarian was cut because of resources limitations, and the Redcliffe farmer because they though it was a bit boring.

There was a post for this previously and I thought it would be sweet for a Robin Hood kind of story with commoner human.

Thread was human commoner scenario I thought of  - by SGY0003

Humans have two origins, the noble and the mage.

Early in production, they were going to have an Avvar fighter who I believe came from the Kocari Wilds, or the Winterlands, or one of those deep south areas around Ostagar. They cut it due to the time and budget difficulty in coming up with creative designs, and I think integrating it into the plot.

They were also going to have a human commoner origin, where you were raised in Redcliffe, had to sell your sister into marriage to make money for the family, and were in hot water with Dwyn. He would have been the villain for your origin as Vaughan is the city elf, Baraht is to the dwarf commoner, etc. However, again, they had to cut it due to time and budget, and I think because they felt it was already too similar to the city elf and dwarf commoner. (The whole "poor family forced to sell the sister to a guy with money and being pushed around by a greedy loanshark dwarf with a mean streak" is pretty much the exact same story as the dwarf commoner origin, just a different setting.) It got cut later in production, so there's still scraps in the toolset and so forth, and obviously leftover characters like Dwyn being the town jerkwad with the greatest means to fight and biggest refusal to help.

I saw a video of cut content. They planned a human commoner from Redcliff/Renisfere. The video I saw was him arriving at Ostagar and Cailan acknowledging it.

They had to cut it due to time constraints.

I honestly would have made a Human Female (or Male if main) Commoner Rogue (Bard/Duelist) as my 2nd character TBH. If that was available. I didn't want to go for a Noble story.

I settled for Human Male Mage (Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior), which I'm okay with because yay magic.

Found it! This is where David Gaider discusses both the abandoned Human Commoner and Human Barbarian origins (and the reasons they were dropped). /ewwww Tumblr *shudder*

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing! Great to get

I have to agree with Gaider. The Avvar would have been VERY interesting. I'm NOT a fan of playing humans in fantasy games, but I might have made an exception just for them. I'm also sad the devs haven't found time or opportunity to involve the Avvar or Chasind more in the stories since then.

I totally would have played a human commoner origin, heck, being a chasind sounds cool....reminds of GoT's wildlings

the human noble origin is almost too perfect...perfect parents, perfect brother, you get Dog, freakin' second only to the royal family....can become royal....now a grey warden.......that's a lot of power

... I'm so glad you said that, because I was starting to think I was the only one who felt that way.  :?

LOL. Thanks.

I'm running two vastly different dwarf nobles- the noble prince, and the pragmatic princess lol....and I think the dwarf noble scheming far, outweighs the noble

I mean the comments and the level of backstabbing just in the first few minutes of the prologue, are amazing

I wish to know more about a lot of dragon age races, origins, clans, interesting people, etc. Wiki doesn't hold a lot of information and during my play through I feel that I missed a lot of valuable information overlooked. I've always been a human in Dragon age and might consider runs as a elf or dwarf. Any recommendations as to where I can look?

Since you seem to like playing mages, an elf mage is a lot of fun to play. I personally like it because you have the double stigma of being an elf as well as a mage, and people comment on both. Plus, if you like or ever wanted to try out the Arcane Warrior specialization, the elf gets personal significance since it's an ancient elven magic technique.

Any recommendations as to where I can look?

What do you mean? Look for information on websites? Look for race-specific content in the game? What are you looking for?

They intended to have a human commoner (it was supposed to be somewhat Luke Skywalkerish). They didn't like the story idea after awhile though.. that and the quest they had in mind was hard to execute (something about rescuing people on a farmland or something). Then they ran out of the time to tweak it.

edit: my bad. looks like someone already mentioned it.

I want to know more about the Tevinter Imperium. They seem like a mage hierarchy society.

Me too. I think people/wiki/etc have more or less pointed out that the Imperium is basically Rome with magic.....

and that would be awesome to be a character as...... I mean think of the roleplay options

* do you believe in the Divine or the Black Divine

* Blood Magic

* Slavery....

*How you look at other races, etc....

I don't really consider magic to be the standout quality of Tevinter. Mages kill mages all the time there. It doesn't mean anything in itself. I think the competiveness is what stands out. And the lengths they go to just stay on top. Seems like an arms race of magic. That's also why there are many blood mages. Simply because you'll lose if you don't join in the game.

It's already been pretty strongly hinted at by the devs that we'll explore the barbarian races (I think Avvar was mentioned specifically) in Inquisition.

Why is the mage origin so "unnerved' compared to the other origins? I keep thinking there is something out of place about the Circle of Magi in Ferelden. That the real tragedy of the mage origin is hidden or very subtle where as the others are in your face about it.

Human has 2 Origins, Cousland being probably the best and Mage being good.

Dwarf has 2 Origins.

Elf has 3.

Elves are awesome.
