If you take Anders into the Fade with you during Feynriel's quest, Justice takes control and he's actually pretty reasonable.  The fact that he's not too keen on talking and that your character can't push for a conversation always seemed like a wasted opportunity.

It's been a while since I've done that quest.... I wonder if being in the fade relieved Justice from anger and corruption somewhat? It was his home for who knows how long.
I often blame wasted opportunities or bad story point in DA2 on the lack of development time. I hate EA....

Am I the only one who immediately thought of Samara from Mass Effect when they read this? Just want to point out that she's a very popular character, and yet what she does could be perceived as the same thing. Don't want to derail the thread by starting a debate over her character (who I also love), it's just interesting to think about the fine line where justice ends and something more sinister takes its place.

You know, that's a bit like saying most people only like Merrill because she's cute, or that they like Isabela because she's got big boobs and tells sex jokes and will sleep with you right away... or Fenris because he's hot and has that broody/'emo' thing going on, or, whatever... Sure, there's a few that might be like that, but to say 'most' is insulting to the majority of fans, who I think look deeper than that when they decide they love these characters. Also, I want to point out that few of Anders' fans 'defend' his actions... most condemn them. Explaining why his actions don't make you hate his character is not the same as condoning them.

Actually the samara comparison is pretty apt, but hers is a side affect of extreme devotion and constant effort, anders justice combo is more like a volatile mix of chemicals.....and no one knows exactly what they react with. But the effect is usually deadly within 25 meters :P

Also, I never said they don't condemn his actions, I just listed the two major archetypes of people who seem to support him. As in support/like the character in general. But for the people who support him regardless of his actions(or condone the bombing an such), I have yet to meet a single person who isn't deeply in one of those two categories(views mages as a collective self insert or views anders as their true wuv fowever)

Oh uh, after catching up on the thread.

Why does everyone think that Wynne is entirely complacent to the circle? She says that she believes that change is needed, but doesn't think there shouldn't be a circle. In Asunder she basically tells Rhys what her plan was for the change and he was kinda like, "damn that was actually a good idea, but too late now."

I disagreed with Wynne (as did my Surana Warden), but I wouldn't view her as complacent. In Amaranthine, Wynne says she opposes the emancipation of the Circle because the Chantry would kill all the mages if the Circle became independent.

I don't hate Anders for what he did in DA 2 per se ....

It has more to do with the evolutuon of his character. In Awakening he was a pleasant, generally affable dude with a funny sense of humor. It was enjoyable to have him in the party.

When DA 2 rolled around, he was melancholy and preoccupied with the mage-templar conflict. The changes make sense given that he merged with Justice, but that doesn't mean I have to like them.

Also, I didn't appreciate the fact that, regardless of what dialogue options I selected, they almost invariably sent me down the romance path. Not my cup of tea, since I usually play male PC's.

Oh that "irreparably of the dialogue options I selected" lie again.

Protip: Don't pick the two diplomacy options in a row. Voila~

1. "Irreparably of the dialogue options I selected" - Learn English.

2. Two diplomacy options in a row = romance? Yeah, that makes sense.

Irreparably: not reparable; incapable of being rectified, remedied, or made good: an irreparable mistake.

Maybe you should?

You could just pick the big red broken heart icon.  I mean...yes how very hard it is to reject someone. Ra forbid you have to do it once and let the matter end. I had to reject Morrigan. Twice. It takes one dialogue choice.

Edit: I will forever be baffled as to this whining over Anders. You can reject him. Your character isn't forced to grin at him like an idiot or encourage his attentions. There's several big glowing broken hearts that let you turn him down early hell there's one at the very beginning of that conversation! There's absolutely no excuse for the whining about being forced into a romance. He hit on you, you turned him down. People do that every day. He doesn't try to force himself on you after you say no. He's also one of the easiest characters to max friendship/rivalry with making that little rivalry gain pathetic.

In a debate regarding the nature of the Circle?

If you're Dalish and you believe magic is a gift of the Creators, I can see the elven Inquisitor having an opinion on the matter, so she has a point.

The definition that you gave for the word "irreparably" comes from the adjective irreparable. Irreparably is an adverb, and you used it incorrectly within the sentence.

"Oh that 'irreparably of the dialogue options I selected' lie again."

Enough said.

Alright my english was bad. You got that.

That doesn't make that pile of BS you claimed it was any less BS. There's nothing forced about Anders' romance. You get a hit on if you pick two specific dialogue options in a row (which is completely avoidable even beforehand by picking the damn heartbreak at the beginning of the conversation) and even then you have a clear broken heart option to his flirt in response. Claiming there was nothing you could do about the romance is a flat out lie. Especially using that laughable picture to prove a point where the only way you're getting into bed with Anders is constantly hitting big bright pink hearts since he won't even kiss you (much less go to bed with you) without you clicking at least 2.

Not when you've seen it 20+ times by what's almost always the same bellyaching males that probably hit on females that don't want it and if you told them "well why are you hitting on her before she hits on you." their response would be "to see if she's interested duh." Then it's just aggravating.

And no I'm not saying anyone in specific. This is a general trend I noticed and it's annoying.

........"literally everyone who posts that comic is an overly aggressive ******* who doesn't respect women.....but I'm not being specific" lol no you are being extremely general.
Also, it's a bit irritating because if you persue friendship with anders regardless of Hawke's gender, boom there he goes. It's not even so much about the fact that he propositions you as it is the fact that you suffer a massive drop in relations by telling
Him no. Also, what's wrong with a funny comic?
Edit: yes I'm calling you a bigot Ry. But it's okay, almost everyone is
Edit #2: and if those guys hitting on women (In your strange ass scenario)is bad, why is what anders does ok?

I've never seen it before so I didn't care and thought it was funny :]

It's too bad that men who are upset over the Anders come on bother you.

I really don't care when men rant about the Anders come on. Men aren't used to being objectified or anything of the sort so most don't deal with it very well.

At the same time though, it's not like it's hard to get the friendship points back xD
