Oh dear.

I'm sure this is a whole pile of 'who cares'

but for the record all my male characters are: Armadillo

and all my female characters are: Pandora, or maybe Eleanor

And so has my naming strategy been for going on 30 years...

oh...

and my Qunari Inquisitor's name will be:

Inquisitor (naturally)

About the elves being Gaelic: the Dalish elves in DA2 have Irish and Welsh accents. "Gaelic" usually refers to Scottish Gaelic. In Europe "Irish Gaelic" is usually referred to as "Irish" (sometimes it is called "Gaelic" or "Irish Gaelic" tho). idk which language people are referring to when they're saying "Gaelic"? or is it both?

Both for me. Though I know that their are differences. Merrill defiantly sounded more Welsh though.

I was looking forward to calling my Elf Inquisitor, "Kyra". Later I learned that supposedly elves don't use hard consonants in their language. Now I'm stumped. :(

Qunari Female: Anjali, Kseniya, Kivran, Malikou

Dwarf Female: Nico, Asha, Raelyn, Kale, Monica, Clementine

Merrill is Welsh - her VA is Eve Myles who you might recognise from Torchwood

Spoiler

The other Dalish have Irish accents, rather authentic ones. Kate Binchy voiced a few of them including Keeper Marethari

I use Carthac for a lot of my fantasy characters, based off my last name of McCarty.

I also love the name Aldan as it mixes my dad, bro and my name.

I have a hard time coming up with names I like so I just use the same name I've used for every female character I've ever made.

The Inquisitor will be a female elf named Eilora.  The funny thing is I named both the Warden and Hawke the same name.

I like to use Caprice for my first character since  She is usually how I explore the world, story and game mechanics and her story does not usually make any sort of unified sense.

Calli or Cali is my destroyer of worlds She does bad stuff for shits and giggles.

Justine or Justice is my heroic character.  and Killian or Tempest is my Irish character.  Usually pretty good but with a really bad temper.

JD is my pragmatist she makes the hard decisions because no one else can but she wants to be heroic the universe just doesn't allow it.

After playing through multiple times and getting to know the story well enough I create my canon run as Mia or Adora the canon's I create are my self inserts, the choices I would make were I in the world but having the foreknowledge of the game resulting from all my prior playthrus.

I also do a Neurisse because I like the name.

I generally make up the names on the spot but when I make a qunari inquisitor I think I'll call her Ketojan cuz I thought it was a pretty name. I know it's not really qunari but eh.

I've actually liked pretty much all the default names in DA, so chances I'll just go with that.

Right now I only have two characters that I really want to play. A female Qunari and a male human. I'm pretty bad with names.

Raina is in the lead right now for my fem qunariquisitor.

Zazu likewise for my male humanquisitor

I did too, but I avoid defaults on principle.

Fair enough.  I usually like to keep my names lore accurate but without repeating a name from a previous game.  So in Origins I just when with the defaults since they were pretty good.  Otherwise I spend WAY too much time trying to come up with a good one.  Because I don't spend enough time in the character creator without having to come up with a name I wont hate.

I DO spend far too much time in the Character Creator.  I feel like I have to use something else so that my character truly feels my own.  Its the same reason I never use a preset face. (Though I do make slight alterations to them and call them original, otherwise they'd probably all turn out hideous!)  :)

What are you going to call your Inquisitors?

I'm glad that the racial options are back, but I'm uncertain about the name I will use for my Dwarven and Vashoth protagonist. I'm awaiting a bit more information about their background, so I have a better idea on who the person will be, and what name seems right for them. I might have a better idea on how I will approach both backgrounds once I've played Inquisition, and therefore I'll know what kind of name I want the characters to have.

My notion of who I want my elven Inquisitor to be is much more established, since I've been giving the idea of a Dalish mage some thought since Origins, and I'm likely going to choose Revas as his first name; it's elven for freedom.
