Maybe whatever the default is for human. I always wanted to use the name Ronan for a Ferelden though (from Selkie myths).
Raina (f) or Auran (m) for an elf.

Elf Male: Rayce
Elf Female: Anya (a little tribute to my favorite Buffy character)
Human Male: Jaime, Gabriel or Graham
Human Female (mage): Maya, Nora or Scarlett
Qunari Female: Tempest
Dwarven Female: Jade or Ruby (I kinda liked the idea of dwarves naming the childe after gems)
I never really understood how the naming conventions in the DA world worked very well, but with games like DA I always do two main characters I tend to make in RPGs.
Male Elf Mage: Kopii
Female Qunari Rogue/Warrior: Runic
Male Elf Rogue: Rodrick
Kopii being a name of my main mage since the beginning of time when making characters who is always a small pointed ear mage (Generally Elf/half elf/something thin with pointed ears that does magic), it's a play on the word 'Copy'. Then Runic is just a word I've always liked, totally bummed it off of FFVI's Celes skill where you absorb magic, I figured since she was supposed to be everything that Kopii isn't why not have her name be the opposite of what he is. Then Rodrick is just a DnD/pathfnder elf I tend to play if I actually bother to play beyond the first two.
If warriors are actually fun for me to play in DAI, Runic will certainly be a warrior, but I always have issues with warriors in DA games so she may remain a rogue...
I'm awful at naming anything, so this is a really stressful question.
I'm thinking either Delphine or Amelie for my female rogue Trevelyan, but that'll probably change once I know what the backstories are. Right now, for some reason I have it in my head that my PC is from Orlais. ![]()
Arya Stark.
If I make a Male Inquisitor. Maybe Ned Stark.
Then a Joffery for my "Mad" playthrough
My first Inquisitor will shockingly have the same name my Warden and my Hawke had, oh and my Shepard! And my Skyrim and Oblivion heroes, as well as my Dark Souls character. I guess I use it a lot!
Dangmar. It was originally supposed to be silly, but I have grown fond of it over the years.
My second and subsequent playthroughs, I tend to roll female toons and give them terrible inappropriate names that I can't even share.
Ha
Lupus - Male Human (I think its going to take me a while to play through this games, so I've only planned one name out)
Elf Male: Breken
Elf Female: Arianne
Human Male: Ethorn
Human Female: Lily
Qunari Male: Venasheth
Qunari Female: Tendrashoth
Dwaven Male: Leonyden
Dwarven Female: Kyree
just a few i can think of

There aren't conventions as far as I can tell, except for humans. The nations tend to have corresponding nationalities in the real world. Ferelden is a mix of British and Celtic cultures, Orlais is French, etc.. Very rarely will you find an NPC with a name that departs from that.
Human Male - Ruadan (my "main" playthrough)
Human or Elf Female - Luna
Qunari Male - Ferdinand
Elf Ki'sa
Qunari: Fluffly
Human: Inqisitor
I'm very lazy thinking of names ( and unoriginal) so most of my names will be derivatives of my real first name.

I'll call my Inquisitor: "Inquisitor", To have the sensation that everyone calls him by his name and not by his title
Dwarven Female: Gyda (this will be my main playthrough)
Elven Female: Siggy
Human Female: Lagertha
While I have no idea for names my other inquisitors will have (probaply deciding during Character Creation), I have taken liking name Sirid Adaar for female qunari inquisitor.
I name my protagonists after my favourite characters in other fiction and use their personalities as a starting point to develop my own character.
Moiraine Trevelyan (Wheel of Time)
Stannis Trevelyan (ASOIAF)
Sheena Lavellan (Tales of Symphonia)
Kelsier Lavellan (Mistborn)
Wolf Adaar (The Wolf Among Us - I hate the name 'Bigby')
Bakara Adaar (Mass Effect)
Asha Cadash (ASOIAF)
Kili Cadash (The Hobbit - movie version)
Depends on the default surname or whatever. In Dragon Age I've been doing alliteration names, eg. Max Mahariel / Hazel Hawke. I don't always do alliteration however as in Mass Effect I made the default first names into two name names, eg. Mary Jane / John Henry.

No one's going for the obvious and naming their Male Human Inquisitor Alec?
I'm thinking possibly Acacia or Acantha for my female human rogue. It means sharp-pointed or thorn; she'll be fairly no-nosense and cantankerous.
