Will BioWare be visiting GamesCom 2014 with Dragon Age Inqusition? And if you do, what amount of new informations can we expect to be revealed (Keep, new gameplay footage, character details, etc.)?

I will be attending GamesCom 2014 and would love to see BioWare presenting their upcoming game.

If this isn't your first Gamescom disregard the whole post.

Honestly wouldn't advise going there anymore. Organisation is a mess, all halls are completely overburdened and they refuse to open up any more halls despite the Köllner Messe being the 5th biggest exhibition centre in the world.

Last year it was so bad they closed of the watch dogs booth like 10 minutes after the doors opened, for the whole day.

With perma tickets gone you won't even be able to leave and return for a lunch break anymore.

Take plenty of drinking water and a folding chair with you. The Gamescom tickets should still serve as tickets for public transport. Focus more on smaller titles as they have significantly shorter lines and get way less coverage.

Wargaming gave the best goodies last year but Razr offered you a chance at really highly priced ones by winning a match on their booth. The PC hall in general gifts the most and the most valuable stuff like gaming keyboards/mouse's, gpus, mainboards etc but you have to be lucky or tall to get them.

Oh and visit the retro section.

Not my first GamesCom, so I know the standard operating procedure. I also have my own little secret entrance point that got me into it ahead of scheduled opening up to an hour early, but without the permanent tickets, I don't know if that will work any longer (it was only possible for people with permanent tickets).

With GamesCom being closer to the release date, I hope they will show us more combat gameplay and that people present will actually get to play a demo. But I'm not holding my breath.

I don't expect much if they do show, either reused E3 footage or new version of the character trailer that show 3 other companions but little else. So you know....more tight lipped shenanigenas

Going to be my first visit to Gamescom... guess I'll prepare myself for the worst, as I don't like very crowded places. Is it correct that it is a bit better (or less bad) if you go on thursday and friday?

Strange that the messe would perform so badly... been there for a trade fair two years ago, and had no issues there at all.

I'll also be going this year.

I went on Thursday 2 years ago. I was there long before the doors opened and those first few hours it was very doable crowd wise but yeah it can get very busy at some stands. there was a new CoD launch that year and there was a 3-4 hr queue to get in...I can't understand how someone can queue that long for 1 game...I wouldn't even do that for DAI hehe

I'm going on thursday again this year. it's probably the least busy day.

I've also taken Friday off from work so if any BioWare devs wanna go out and get drunk i'm up for it. EA is buying, right??  :P

If you want to catch a day that's less populated, then Sunday is what you're looking. Thursday and Friday are usually manageable too, but still very much crowded. What you absolutely DON'T want is visiting on Saturday. That's when everyone who couldn't get leave from their job/school/whatever comes to GamesCom and easily the most populated day, pretty much always.

Also, if you want to check out specific games, find out where they are beforehand and then make a dash to their booths right after the doors open. Otherwise you have to calculate around an hour waiting time for the small booths and easily up to three-four hours waiting time for the blockbusters. So if you have say three big games you want to visit, it's not a bad idea to purchase three day tickets and just make a dash to a different at the start of every day.

And as others have said, pack lots of water, something to eat (you can buy all that at GamesCom but they ask horrendous prices for it) and if you have it, a small, foldable camping chair. It really helps if you have to wait some time in front of a booth (or if you just want to sit down).

Beware thiefs!!!

I wouldn't advise making a dash especially if no one else is doing so. If the crowd behaves going at a quick pace suffices, running only endangers people.

Rule of thumb:

The crowd won't behave.

Last year I was nearly trampled because everyone wanted to be first at the Call of Duty booth and once there, I got nearly crushed because nearly everyone in the line was pressing, shoving and whatnot, as if that would make everything go faster. People actually collapsed. All because you could win something.

And there's always something to win at GamesCom.

Besides, I don't mean anyone should break into a sprint. Just making a beeline to wherever you want to be is usually sufficient.

I know and the organizers were horrible. Letting both perma ticket and day ticket people in at the same time instead of batch-wise.

Heck they cooped perma ticket possessors into a hall with a total of 4 turnstiles. They didn't separate us into batches just let everyone crowd at the front, they didn't hand out water so the paramedics had to repeatedly wade through the crowd after being notified by concerned bystanders. It was a mess.

We should mention though that this was a rather standout occasion. For one it was a big giveaway (free 200$ game collector's edition of an upcoming blockbuster game (CoD Ghosts) for the first 500 people) and secondly, even though I really don't want to generalize like that and want to emphasize that this is not representative, it were arguably the worst of the already infamous CoD community who tried the hardest to get there first, with all the pressing, shoving, bad temper, cutting in line you'd expect.

It was not pretty, but the exception. Usually the worst you get at GamesCom is very long waiting times in very densely populated lines. Hence why you'd better cover those things early in the morning before the line gets too long.

I didn't even know they gave something away at the COD booth as I didn't even try to go through that hall once, way too crowded. Razr, ESO, Watch Dogs were also were very fought over.

We ran as well and a friend of mine managed to get into Watchdogs only for the demo not to work and only being showed a video instead.

Well, that's the other side of the medal for being there early. Sometimes you're beta testing their setups.

Thanks all! I guess I'll make a run for the Bioware stand first in that case... Mostly interested in that one anyway... And now I'm extra happy to be wearing a plate armor: people can shove as much as they want, I won't feel it :P

It will be less crowded on Thursdays and Fridays (haven't tried out the Sunday yet). Sometimes companies give away goody bags and if you go on Sunday I presume that they they are out of stock because it's the last day. But whatever you do, don't go on Saturday. I completely agree with Fidite Neminie on this. My advice is: Be there early (before the gates open) and go to the BioWare booth first if this is the thing that you are most interested in. And keep in mind that it could be quite hot in August especially inside the exhibition hall. So, if you are really going to wear a plate armor take a good deodorant with you ;).

I'm pretty sure BW will be at GC with Inquisition. If so, I'd expect some of the already available trailers with German audio, possibly a short playable demo. In terms of reveals I'd say they'll talk about the crafting system and possibly the Keep in more detail than before. This is all just speculation on my part, though, of course.

As for the convention itself, yes it's crowded, but if you're there early you have a good chance to get a look at a few games. I always have fun at GC, but then again I'm mostly there to meet the devs and fellow gamers/fans and I'm usually not interested in the "blockbusters" like CoD. :-)

I booked early and managed to get a hotel room near the messe, so even easier to be there on time. What's a good time: an hour before opening? I'm not really into blockbusters either, so I can skip things like CoD, LoL, etc. Would just love to meet some devs and other fans :)

If I find out that the plate is really too much, I'll wear something else on Friday... I heard that the current tickets do not allow you to go outside and come back later, right? That sucks... then I can't get back to the hotel to change clothes. Well, worst case I'll have to hire a closet to stuff my armor in (if it fits...).

Hmm... I hope that they will also have trailers with English audio... It's not that I don't understand German, but... My English is waaaaay better. I wonder if they'll have goodies at the bioware stand? I assume they'll be at the EA stand, as I could not find Bioware on the list?

Sorry for throwing out that many questions at you lot... I just want to prepare myself as good as possible, as I'll probably be there without company and it's my first convention ever (not including trade fairs)

Thursday and Friday I'd say an hour early is a good time, because those with Press and Trade Visitor tickets will be able to go in at that time. So even if it seems crowded at that time, which it usually doesn't, several people will go in and you'll have plenty of room to get in front for the actual entrance time.

The previous tickets for specific dates didn't allow you to go back in after you've left. This year you can only get the daily tickets, except if you're with the Press or a Trade Visitor. So I think people just assume you won't be allowed back in this time, as well. It could be different, but I'm not sure. I haven't looked into this problem, since I have a Trade Visitor ticket and this won't affect me. If all else fails, ask at the info booth and bring drinks and food with you, because it's rather expensive there.

Trailer in German was, as I said in the previous post, just speculation on my part. It might as well be the English trailer with German subtitles...or no trailer at all. ^^

When they were at GC with DA:O and DA2 they had goodies at their booth, like t-shirts(I think), inflatable swords, being able to take a picture with the DA2 background. Maybe they'll have something similar again this year. We'll have to wait and see. :-)
